What do you wear on Christmas Day?!

I was chatting with my coworkers earlier about what they wear on Christmas Day and it got pretty heated!

I personally enjoy wearing PJs for pretty much the whole day, even if people are coming round. I appreciate the stretchy waist band (more room for treats) and I'd rather be comfortable when there's so much going on.

I'm really intrigued to know what everyone else does and what's normal in your house

Depends. If it's just me, husband and daughter having a quiet one, we just do PJs all day. If I'm hosting family/friends I'll go for something comfy, leggings and a Christmas jumper. If we're going to one of my family's enormous Christmas bashes we'll all dress up quite smartly. I've got a sparkly emerald green dress for this year which I'm looking forward to wearing!

Leggings and a soft jumper and slippers!

Peridot1 · 01/12/2023 14:13

Pjs first thing but then I like to get dressed up. Even when it’s just me, DH and DS. It feels more special that way.

This year I think it will be wide legged green velvet trousers and a black jumper. Comfy but dressy.

MikeRafone · 01/12/2023 14:14

I go for a 5km run and then shower and put on brand new pjs for the day. We have a roast and chilli with champagne & a box set.

I have all year to see relatives so we stay home and have a quiet xmas

justalittlesnoel · 01/12/2023 14:15

Pjs first thing (fresh Christmas ones!) then either a nice jumper and leggings or a cute dress and tights. I really enjoy then getting into Christmas pjs again in the evening!

mamatoTails · 01/12/2023 14:21

Leggings, a christmas jumper, and fluffy socks! Nothing fancy, we only have my parents over.
Pyjamas on once they've left and we've walked the dog and tidied up.

FijiSea · 01/12/2023 14:50

We go to family for a big dinner so we all get dressed up , sparkly party dresses for the girls and smart shirts or outfits for the boys.
Even the years we have had it just us , I’ve worn sequin blouse type tops with coated leggings.
I think it’s nice to be dressed up on Christmas Day.
When I was a child we always went visiting to relatives / grandparents houses and we wore our party dresses that we wore to the school discos to go visiting. ( 80’s ra ra velvet with gold foil )

Hollietingle · 01/12/2023 14:58

I like wearing something comfy too but with having family here I tend to wear leggings and a long Christmas top, same as Boxing day

Work2live · 01/12/2023 15:00

Something comfortable but relatively festive, usually. We spend the day with either of our parents and nobody really 'dresses up'.

Usually a Christmas jumper of some sort and leggings or nice joggers/trousers (with plenty of give in the waistband).

Screamingabdabz · 01/12/2023 15:03

God I love that. Wish I’d seen this before I bought a peacocks effort now!

I will be wearing a ‘nice’ dress on Christmas day - probably one of my loose ones to allow for the podge factor.

whatsthesenseinsharing · 01/12/2023 15:05

Love this! Stealing the idea.. and a great ethos behind company

RigorMortisRadio · 01/12/2023 15:08

PJ's until the food is nearly ready then I will change into leggings and a Xmas jumper

newnamechangeforthisone · 01/12/2023 15:12

This year it will be PJs but having our dinner on Christmas Eve so Christmas Day is all about just chilling out and relaxing. For us though I have children with disabilities, my husband works two jobs, I own my own business and we only have Christmas Eve, day and Boxing Day. So we just want to relax as much as possible as we are so exhausted all the time!

fourelementary · 01/12/2023 15:13

This year it will be Christmas PJs on til lunchtime, uniform (nurse) on for the afternoon as am working- will make sure I have some tinsel in my hair though or a Santa scrunchie, then either into Christmas jumper and my new black velvet feel jeans or maybe pjs depending on where I end up after work…

LongAndWindingRoads · 01/12/2023 15:14

A nice casual dress, with tights and cosy hoody.

Vicliz24 · 01/12/2023 15:19

Christmas jumpers and pj bottoms usually tartan. Only have family here and we all prefer to be comfy .

mondaytosunday · 01/12/2023 15:21

We make an effort - it's one day a year and after putting so much in to the decorations and cooking it would seem odd to just conecto the table in joggers! Plus if having guests they will certainly be in their finery so nice to make a proper occasion out of it!

honeylulu · 01/12/2023 15:46

I wear a party dress. Not sure why. When I lived with my parents we all dressed semi-smart because we went to church in the morning but nothing out of the ordinary and certainly not glamorous.

My daughter used to wear a party dress too until a couple of years ago when she declared it "stupid" (she's probably right) and now sticks to her usual tops and leggings. Adult son stayed in ojs the last couple of years. Anything goes!

I do change into something warm and comfy for the evening.

LubaLuca · 01/12/2023 15:49

A comfy dress and tights which is what I wear most days. We don't dress up, but we never stay in pyjamas either (or on any day except sick days).

TheChosenTwo · 01/12/2023 15:49

Joggers or leggings with a tshirt. We don’t dress up! Have a house full,
22 this year, but I’m running about all day looking after sorting drinks and food and cleaning up before the evening guests so I’m not getting dressed up for that, I want to be comfortable!!

Sundaefraise · 01/12/2023 15:55

I have a dress that comes out every Christmas. It’s dark green with bronze stars. It also has a very forgiving waistband…

housethatbuiltme · 01/12/2023 15:58

Kid wear their xmas eve PJs.

DH wears his normal everyday clothes.

I usually wear something nicer like a dress or playsuit but I don't 'dress up' (no hair or make up etc...) as we are just at home.

MammaTo · 01/12/2023 16:02

Christmas Eve pj’s, then smart Christmas clothes (usually something new) and then into comfies in the night. Then Boxing Day clothes which is usually more casual/lounge wear type stuff.
