I have asked my secret Santa in DHs family for a cross body handbag. I have asked DH for new runners and DS (he's 1 so DH again!) for silver ball stud earrings. My DM said she will pay for a night away for DH and me

I do LOVE surprises but DH really isn't great for thinking of stuff like that. Last year I got 2 'I love you mum' sort of gifts from DS 1 of them is ok so I keep in my office (WFH) so I had to say I love those two but no more please and just say what I'd like.

What have you asked for?

I want new units for our bathroom and under cabinet lights for our kitchen lol. Everyone says that's not for me but it bothers me the most so technically it is for me.

I’m a shoe fiend so a few new trainers and fancy slippers, some new earrings and a new ring (just one of the nice ones from Pandora), have listed a few specific make up and skincare products as again I’m a fiend in this arena! After that I struggle to think of what I want. DP usually offers to pay for me to get something done at the salon too. I love beauty treatments but they can add up, so for Xmas and bdays he gives me cash or a voucher to get hair dyed or nails done. Quite happy with stocking filler gifts like sheet masks, nice chocolates, fluffy socks, etc!

@slipperypenguin Fair enough! What sort of things does your wife like? For me you couldn't go wrong with cosy PJs, nicer slippers that I would pay out for myself, a voucher for the beauticians or the hairdresser.

I normally don't ask for jewellery, I like it but don't wear much.

I have been eying up an at home nail set for doing gels myself.

For DH I have bought flights and tickets to a show for him and his dad. Is there anything/ anywhere your wife would like to see/go?

Probably more chocolate and maybe an couple of LP's seeing as I am getting a record player, I have loads of vinyl from the past so I will see as records got expensive in recent years! I usually get lots of books but I got a kobo libra for my birthday recently so I have plenty of books on that I haven't read yet.

My DH is great but he hates shopping and so I just buy what I want and he pays for it! We don't spend lots on stuff for ourselves throughout the year so we are generous at Christmas.

I want a specific handbag, boots and perfume. I won't get them as I wouldn't ask anyone to spend huge amounts of money on me - and to be fair, it's basically coming from the same pot if it's DP buying it.

I never really want anything so it's unusual that I reeeeally want these things. I will probably buy them myself.

I’m going to be the biggest downer at this party and say my almost 4yo ASD DS to talk!!

DH and I were saying the other day it’s the first year we’ve both so desperately wanted something we can’t actually buy or get for ourselves. It sucks. Literally all we want in life.

I’ve asked for a Chilly’s cutlery set for when I go backpacking and a Snoopy waterproof watch.

I’ve bought us both a holiday in the new year, so that’s it.

I would love any of these:

Don't really want anything, but I like events rather than stuff. So promise of dinner in a really good restaurant (eg Claridge's). Annual membership for somewhere like the V&A or Royal Academy.

If "stuff", I would quite like a pair of purple leather gloves.
And the new Judi Dench book on Shakespeare.
Pyjamas are good, providing they are long sleeved (& legged!), and plain colours, no ghastly stars/rainbows etc.

Definitely no hand cream/scented candles/pot plants/cheap toiletries or any of the other things routinely trotted out for women "of a certain age"!

@MammaWeasel why won't you get them? Do you not get given gifts or do you get given other random stuff? Why don't they get you what you would like?
I have already got a Lego set (it was reduced at a good price) and there's a couple more on my wish list.
