What would you put in a box of Christmas Cheer?

I have a relative who is a bit of a Grinch. Despite having children, in previous years, she either hasn’t bothered to put up a tree or does it on Christmas Eve. There are no special traditions or special food etc. The day is spent mostly on iPads and in bed. The kids split Christmas between her and their Dad.

I want to send a box of Christmas goodies to get them in the spirit of Christmas. The kids are 7, 10, and 13.

So far:
santa hats
a tree to stick on the wall
crackers
a book of Christmas themed stories
Christmassy chocolate and sweets

What would you suggest? (The box has to be posted and I want everything to arrive at the same time so I’m not going to order things to be delivered directly to them).

You sound like a person who's done something similar and feels a bit exposed 🙄

🤣🤣No. I'm just a person reading your batshit rant.

I bought a Christmas paperchain making kit from Amazon for me and DS (more for myself) I'm 51 and he's 21 🤣 A really nice Christmas activity for any age!

Are you attempting to use poor mental health as an insult and laughing at somebody who you think is suffering with a cognitive disability or mental illness@Desecratedcoconut? I'm embarrassed for you - do better.

StarlightLime · 28/11/2023 12:32

What the hell are you on about, @Pandajane ? You're sounding weirder with every post.

Pandajane · 28/11/2023 13:38

So you think that attempting to insult people by saying that they have a mental illness is a good thing too @StarlightLime ? Okay, good to know - I hope you're proud of yourself. Smh honestly.

I'm laughing at you and your unhinged rant. I haven't mentioned mental illness, or are you suggesting only mentally ill or cognitively impaired people can be unhinged, perhaps you should ... Do better?

TraceyHyde · 28/11/2023 14:27

Whoa! You’re mother shaming her now.
how about you stay in your lane and mind your own business.

Edited

You are literally calling me 'unhinged' and 'batshit' (the missing word here being 'crazy') which are slurs that people (notably you) use against people with mental illness and cognitive impairment which is rude and bigoted. Further to that, I have yet to see you provide any talking points regarding what I have said in these comments - is that because you don't have any and you just get your jollies trolling people who state their opinion of a public post? By the way, if you're trying to troll me, it isn't working hun 😙

🤣🤣

Op, I hope you nephews and nieces love the box. Obviously this thread is dying a death under the weight of engineered outrage but have a lovely Christmas, you've done a really kind thing.

Christmas is ridiculously out of all proportion to the rest of life. Its a Christian religious festival - the vast majority in the uk have no religion, let alone a Christian one. Even if you are Christian and want to celebrate it, it lasts 12 days, from Christmas day to the 12th January. Its only very recently that the stupid and vastly expensive custom of celebrating something - anything, but not the birth of Christ - has stretched into November. Even when my kids were growing up it was traditional to decorate, make the mince pies etc on Christmas Eve, no earlier. The relative you describe is the sensible one, keeping away from the commercial, obviously competitive, spending spree that so many are indulging in - and in many cases, can't even afford
Good for her. Leave her alone, let her prepare for Christmas if she believes in it in her own way - if she doesn't or doesn't want her kids involved in all the commercialism that has completely taken the place of the former religious festival, that's her affair. Many would think she's the one who's got it right
