@Flubadubba @redjoker do they make a noise as they race? Son is asd and really likes lights but cant tolerate loud or high pitched sounds.

The noise of them comes from the surface they are on. On my wooden floor they are fast so make a noise. But less when we race them on the lino floor. But they don't actually have a sound built in. You can just buy one and try? I got a single one for a few quid but this year am buying a big set

@LemonFrosting agree with @redjoker . IME, they don't really work on carpet, and if you have loads running around then the vibrations against a wooden floor can be a little noisy. Against other surfaces, not so much.

The only downside we have found is trying to find the bloody things if they escape (ie the playground isn't connected to keep them in)...especially the bigger, faster ones!

One of mine disappeared in the hole between the kitchen baseboards. Had to take the whole thing apart. They are so fast!!!

Pandemic is good & very replayable.
Magic Maze is brilliant but utterly frustrating (you are each responsible for different things in navigating a maze but can't talk to each other)
Forbidden Island/Desert are good but never get played as often here.
D&D adventure begins isn't my cup of tea but my D&D fans enjoyed when younger.

We really enjoy the escape games you play as a group, not replayable unfortunately but the Cluedo ones can be passed on to someone else afterwards.

My daughter has asked for one too... I'm reluctant to pay full price for something which seems like a fad and will probably get lost at school.

There are various copies available on amazon /Ebay so I may go for one of those instead.
