I love the fact that the nn of the person who said this to me is @chocolateisavegetable - very apt!

In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Can anyone recommend small card/board games for a 6 year old? We love UNO and have loved orchard games but feel hes too old for those now. He cant read yet so struggling to find anything that isnt reliant on that

We like no more llamas, exploding kittens, dobble, snap, memory games. Can he recognise numbers?

Not card games but we liked connect 4, jenga, guess who, bugs in the kitchen, snakes & ladders, pictureka, hungry hippos, junior monopoly/game of life (I just read the cards but they soon recognised the pictures and knew what they meant), 5 second Rule Jr, headbandz.

Big potato games do some good family games we enjoy playing together - herd mentality (he wouldn't need to read the questions or could play on a team), OK play, disney colour brain.

Also bop it, silly sausage and Simon Air have been popular here.

Also we enjoy rush hour, I think they do a junior version.

Taco, cat, gift, pizza is great!

I Have this ready for this year :)

Smileatthesmallthings · 15/11/2023 16:21

@redjoker for bigger games my 6yo loves Carcassonne, Labyrinth, draughts, junior monopoly and junior cluedo. Dobble, Uno Flip, old maid and a travel chess are the smaller faves. Oh, and battleships and top trumps. And there's a game called Set which can be a bit tricky to get your head round but if he's good at finding patterns we like that to either play collaboratively or competitively. And some of the smart games like Down the Rabbit Hole that is magnetic and independent so really good for car journeys.

Rainbow1612 · 15/11/2023 16:25

My son really wants an Air up bottle, any idea if they'll be black Friday deals? I didn't take any notice last year!

I just begrudge paying so much money for a bottle!

MadeForThis · 15/11/2023 15:52

Looking a Yeti rambler. Do they ever do discounts?

Have you looked on Vinted? I know I've mentioned it on here a few times (sorry), but I know that I myself sold two YETI cups on there after Christmas last year. They were gifted but passed the return window. I wanted smaller ones so I sold the two gifted ones and used the money to buy the new smaller ones. They were brand new and unopened and I ended up selling them for a third of the price. There's definitely still sellers on there with YETI so you can have a look and make some offers.

Alternatively if you are unsure of Vinted, Amazon definitely do some styles/colours on offer. I actually got another rambler with a straw lid from there as an early Xmas gift this year.

BeaLola · 15/11/2023 16:25

Apologies if already mentioned but I can't keep up with you all

Escentual.con (make up and aftershaves , perfumes etc ) have 25% off most things with code Escentual25

I think it's up to Friday and if over £40 free p&p

Just got sone Armani and Tom Ford sorted for DS

BeaLola · 15/11/2023 16:26

It's Escentual.com

GoatsareGOAT · 15/11/2023 16:29

@redjoker
Sleeping Queens
Rhino Hero
How Many Monkeys
Animal upon Animal (I know it looks young but my teens are still delighted to play it with my wee ones!)
Set
Kingdomino

EekGoesTheBaby · 15/11/2023 16:30

@redjoker Magic Maze Kids is great. It's a cooperative game, and there are several boards so lots of replayability. No reading (but you do "read" symbols to know what to do).

This is not physically small, about slim-standard board game sized, but doesn't require reading on his part: Enchanted Forest.

Restlessinthenorth · 15/11/2023 08:25

Thank you for this! Both my son and daughter love this brand, and with the code I got them each a hoody working out at £25 each. Total bargain and a lovely surprise that doesn't brake the bank!

Hi,

How have you managed this? The cheapest hoodie I could see for teen DS is £73, with 1/3rd off that's still £51. I wouldn't mind that, but i only need one. Curious how you've got for £25?

STom2 · 15/11/2023 16:46

First time asking for guidance. If any of you lovely mumsnetters know where I mind find a bargain on a Gore-tex mens jacket please do let me know. Ideally don't want to go over £100. Equally, I'm looking for mens welly boot recommendations!

Restlessinthenorth · 15/11/2023 16:48

@Puffalicious here is a screenshot of the two I got. Using the code VIP30 brought it right down

Double, Cat, goat, pizza

BlackJumpsuit · 15/11/2023 16:58

@WidowedMum I'll send you an o2 code, how does it work? When I've had a look it says use within 90 mins so I'm afraid of getting it and wasting it 😂

Raindancer411 · 15/11/2023 17:09

Any offers on posca pens this year? I was debating them for my son but don't want to spend too much in case he doesn't use them.

Do you need special paper for them too?

TreesandRug · 15/11/2023 17:12

Pass the bomb junior might be good for the six year Old?

Whilst everyone is thinking about games, does anyone have any recommendations for older kids?

Rymans still have their offers on Posca pens. To my knowledge, you don’t need special paper.
