What are you getting your husbands/male partner?

Need some inspiration. We have only been married 16 years.

So fair I have him a Lego technic helicopter. I have never gotten him Lego before, he has it on his amazon wish list and it's an extremely Lego heavily year for the kids so that makes sense. Christmas Day will be spent building.

Anyway, other than that, I've come up with nothing. He's 43! Looking for some inspiration. Thanks.

Mines asked for a new PlayStation and a house with a log burner. 🤦‍♀️

He's getting pants, socks, a couple of books and a weekend away in a cottage with a log burner. I'm making him a stocking (as in I'm embroidering onto felt and making it all myself) and will probably just fill it with sweeties, crisps and chocolate. Also making a hamper of pickles and chutneys for him as he loves cheese and crackers with all those bits.

Sauerkrautsandwich · 15/11/2023 14:28

Mine spends lots of time on his feet and we found out by a chance running shoes are realky good for him. So Goka trainers. I pick which design 😁, I know which firmness he likes.
Bunch of nice cotton undies and tshirts he likes.
Some small bits. Probably a weekend away for us somewhere by the sea to clear our lungs.
And my goose or duck roast😂

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 15/11/2023 14:31

DH and I agreed our Christmas presents to each other this year would be upgrading our phones.

BeanyBops · 15/11/2023 14:44

The weather station is such a good idea!

I'm quite optimistic about my gifts for DH thjs year. He has a stocking with dog shaped cable holders, a wine thermometer thing and a wonky table keyring. Also a choc coins and a lush shower gel.

Main gifts are amazon gift card to spend on kindle books, cabin socks, a chillys coffee mug (there was a pretty new Emma Bridgwater design with dogs in the woods, and he loves to take our dog to the woods!), a lemax Xmas tree for his collection, a Swiss card (idea from mumsnet), a whippet shaped bottle opener, tickets for a local food tour, and a wine taster kit which is a box with lots of different types of wine and it comes with a card with notes to take you through trying all the wines and figuring out what your preference is and what upu don't like! Thought that would be fun and you get a lot of wine!

Absolutely nothing. We have tried over the years to get our grown up children and now the grandkids not to get us anything but they take no notice. Christmas puts such a pressure on families to spend money needlessly.

I much prefer to buy DH things when I see something that I know he will like than buy something just because it is Christmas.

We were watching the office earlier in the year and Dwight gets a bobble head of himself as a gift. DP saw it and said "that's well cool I want one" he's forgotten all about it now but I made a mental note. So I'm getting a personalised bobblehead of himself so he can put it on his desk at work 😂 I'll also be getting him tickets to a comedy show, and then just a bottle of whisky and a new ring that he's been on the lookout for (and I've found it but not told him)

@RamseyGordon The bobblehead sounds amazing! Do you have a link?

Cuppa2sugars · 15/11/2023 15:14

Mine chose a picture to hang on the wall, it was quite expensive but he’s bought me some lovely china and a statue i wanted for the garden.

MammaGnomes · 15/11/2023 15:14

Mine has a birthday next week so this is all split between the two

A watch (not super pricey but still a nice one, I think he likes the idea of building up a collection)
Waterproof coat for dog walking
New board game
Bottle of baileys ( this is for birthday to get him in the Xmas mood)

Watch box
Wine tasting tour
Aftershave (one off his pricey wish list that I managed to find)
New shirt/jumper
New pjs
New dressing gown

AutumnBride · 15/11/2023 15:54

DP is difficult to buy for so I tend to stick to useful and practical stuff. So far he's having a new bag for work (his current one is knackered) aftershave, the usual boxers and PJ bottoms. Some shorts and a set of smellies themed on his favourite sport.

I'll probably get some nice chutneys/pickles when I see some interesting ones.

@GingerLiberalFeminist
Where did you find the Tolkien gifts? 🙏

PieonaBarm · 15/11/2023 17:11

My Dad got my chilli obsessed DH these last year from Tebay services. I've since ordered him the half gallon jar. He loves them.

https://auntiecaroline.co.uk/shop/ols/products/cheek-burning-chillies

I've also bought him this which you need literally one or two drops of. If you've a DH/DP/DB/BIL/DS that can manage heat it's worth it!!

Psycho Juice Extreme Ghost Pepper... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008CRSEUG?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

londonmummy1966 · 15/11/2023 17:16

This year DH is getting a voucher for a local wine shop - he can use it to attend/take a friend to tastings as well as buying booze plus an uberstar wine chiller stick that will take up next to no room in the freezer.

A couple of years ago I bought a racing track experience day for him and a friend which went down very well...

One of our friends who is very hard to buy for loved a grow your own chilli plant from Boots and a library of make your own cheese kits.

Hibernatalie · 15/11/2023 17:35

A few smaller bits this year. Aftershave, book set, t-shirts, pants, socks, periodic table ornament for his desk, onesie. I might get him a nice bottle of red.

TotoAnnihiliation · 15/11/2023 18:38

ThreeRingCircus · 14/11/2023 16:18

I have bought DH:

A bottle of gin. He loves gin and I try to look out for brands he hasn't tried.

A new hoodie from Fat Face.

A reversible leather belt that is brown on one side and black on the other so he has two for the price of one 😄.

A meat thermometer. He's been after one for the BBQ.

The usual socks/boxers/chocolate. He never buys himself new socks or underwear.... just waits for me to buy them for Christmas 🤣.

Please can I have a link for the belt?

Chilli growing kit so far. Dd will give an Oodie and ds Star Wars Lego set. Those were originally from me but kids wanted to give presents too.

I've been looking for a periodic table gift for DS - could I please have a link?

Literary Magazine subscription. it was on a podcast he listens to and there have been hints.

There will be other things. He needs socks - I’ll wrap them up in something else though. He always needs socks so I try and make something stupid like a sock octopus to open.

I’ll be getting my Dad Lego… and I got my both parents tickets to a play that opens in July.

There were hints for a coffee machine but he drinks 2 cups a week at home - both decaf due to doctor’s orders - and he wanted a super fancy one. We have the counter space but similar requests have ended up like the rice cooker that sits in the garage. I’m going to get him really fancy coffee for cafetière or stove top or aeropress we already have 🤣.

Also our current ritual is that we go to a cafe on the weekend that’s 5 mins from the house. The coffee machine is 100 cafe trips not including coffee.

I’ve never been so against a present before! We can afford it (indeed I want a tumble dryer which won’t be a christmas present but likely a Jan sale purchase.)

ScarlettDarling · 16/11/2023 07:32

Aftershave
Nice shower gel
Lounge wear
Socks
Boxers
Hotel chocolat goodies
Matthew Perry autobiography
Hopefully a few other bits he suggests or I spot when browsing.
The same boring stuff I get him every year but he likes it. Men are tough to buy for!

Tisfortired · 16/11/2023 08:45

Some of the Vans that are more like trainers (Ultra?) he’s had his eye on them for a while but they’re pricey so he hasn’t got them. I also got him an Oodie in the current £35 Black Friday sale (he is very jealous of mine and DS’ genuine oodies so his mum got him a primark version last Christmas but he will be chuffed to join the oodie gang.) I also got him an Xbox game, an official Chemical Brothers merch Tshirt (he loves them and we went to see them recently.) Finally Mary Beards new book (big history nerd.)

I will also get him a bottle of something, probably tequila or rum and some chocolates/sweets.

This is more than I usually would buy him, we usually have a £100 budget but I wanted to treat him, I have just finished maternity leave and he has been so supportive and wonderful in the last year and is always putting everyone else before himself.

I really struggle with ideas for my husband. This year I’ve got him a day making a knife with a blacksmith but that might be a bit niche!

What a fab idea! Could I ask for a link?
