Need some inspiration. We have only been married 16 years.

So fair I have him a Lego technic helicopter. I have never gotten him Lego before, he has it on his amazon wish list and it's an extremely Lego heavily year for the kids so that makes sense. Christmas Day will be spent building.

Anyway, other than that, I've come up with nothing. He's 43! Looking for some inspiration. Thanks.

We do four things for Christmas -

Eat: chocolate covered coffee beans
Drink: Isle of Harris whisky
Read: new Ray Celestin book
Wear: Samuel Windsor slippers

He has a birthday not long after Christmas so I'm collecting ideas for that.

My DP would LOVE this, can I have a link please?
@DrMaxwell We went with https://boneyardlondon.com/products/1-day-forge-a-viking-knife-course it is quite pricey but I made it a combined present with our anniversary and his 40th. There are lots of other options around the country though, with cheaper options. But we do recommend this one, he really enjoyed it.

Mine would love this

@Mummymummy89 do you have a link for the chilli sauces??? Think my husband might like this

Dreamingofgreece · 14/11/2023 20:35

Im debating one of those chilled water dispensers.
We no longer have an ice/water dispenser fridge freezer and really miss it
Spend loads on bottled water which we feel guilty about and you have to run our cold tap for about 5 minutes before it comes out remotely chilled.
I know you can chill tap water in the fridge but thought this would be easier

@newnamechangeforthisone I'm hoping they'll be some deals for Black Friday 🤞🏽

I chose them for the pretentious tasting notes cards lol. The box arrived the other day and had a look and the cards live up to expectation! Haven't opened the sauces obviously so can't comment if they taste any good yet

I've brought my DP a new Xbox and a final fantasy book

bananaboats · 14/11/2023 22:24

So far I've got aftershave, a book, craft beer gift set from a brewery he likes, tickets to see a comedian he likes for next year & a leather bracelet. Looking for another one more thing probably. Stocking will be the usual shower gel, chocolates & coffee pods.

BestIsWest · 14/11/2023 22:54

Mine is having a guitar, tickets to see 10CC, a tin of biscuits from Fortnum’s, a cross body bag and probably a few small stocking fillers.

Polis · 14/11/2023 23:04

Some kind of saw, apparently. He has bought it himself and suggested that it can be my Christmas present to him.

Judging from the size of the box it came in, the size of a fridge, I’m guessing it wasn’t cheap.

TheChristmasPig · 14/11/2023 23:08

A Sonos roam speaker to use in the shower and an Ohelo water bottle as it can go in the dishwasher.

OMGitsnotgood · 14/11/2023 23:26

Am considering a fitbit, DH has taken to monitoring his steps on the phone but doesn't take account of gym & his sports. Bit pricey tho so am hoping for some Black Friday deals

FinallyFinalGirl · 15/11/2023 07:16

@Mummymummy89 thanks for the link for the chilli sauces. I bought the 12 day box and considering the subscription for him. He is always on the hunt for strong sauces so he will love it.

Some years ago a lock picking kit was mentioned by quite a few people on MN on a thread like this - I bought one for DH and he loved it! Would like to find something along those lines for him again.

bonkersAlice · 15/11/2023 07:31

Nothing, he doesn’t want anything. I told him there must be something he wants but no. He said to give the money to a local charity or spend it on myself.

Vettrianofan · 15/11/2023 07:32

A Warhammer figure or something like that.

Ooh this sounds great!

AnneButNotHathaway · 15/11/2023 10:41

Tickets to a show or an event he would like to attend
Local coffee house voucher
DIY coupons (here are some ideas for that)
Some tech stuff like a good mouse or headphones
Also could be something done purely for funsies, like a framed picture of his but with a Christmas background (here is a guide on doing this, too)

Pedestriancrossing · 15/11/2023 12:38

Nothing and he gets annoyed if I do get him something. We buy what we need as we need it and have different tastes so buying a surprise has always been a risky business. Sometimes agree to book something together as a Christmas gift to each other. Does feel a bit miserable sometimes but I agree with the not spending for spending sake view.

Cryingbutstilltrying · 15/11/2023 12:45

In the past a meat thermometer and lock picking set have been massive surprise hits for DH, would recommend those.
liking the sound of a milk frother, he also heats his in the microwave and makes a damn mess. That will do nicely.
Other items this year… new secateurs (his request), The Year of the Locust book (he loved I am Pilgrim), fake oodie and a nice bottle of brandy. I know he’s got a load of camera stuff as well but he needs to buy that, I don’t know the first thing! Birthday close to Christmas so it will get split across both.

Pizza oven

RamseyGordon · 15/11/2023 13:34

We were watching the office earlier in the year and Dwight gets a bobble head of himself as a gift. DP saw it and said "that's well cool I want one" he's forgotten all about it now but I made a mental note. So I'm getting a personalised bobblehead of himself so he can put it on his desk at work 😂 I'll also be getting him tickets to a comedy show, and then just a bottle of whisky and a new ring that he's been on the lookout for (and I've found it but not told him)

GingerLiberalFeminist · 15/11/2023 13:43

DH is 37 non drinking geek 😁

  • A new nice wool coat
  • Some Warhammer thing he wanted (I think I got it wrong!)
  • A tapestry cushion cover
  • Milk frother
  • Hot chocolate
  • A fleece blanket map of middle earth
  • A hobbit meal plan sign

Writing this out, I've realised I need to get something for him from DD 😂

KnittedCardi · 15/11/2023 14:05

He has sent me a list of Airfix Model Airplanes. He's late fifties, and during lockdown he re-lived his childhood by making model aircraft. There are still a few to make a complete WW2 set. Bit nerdy, but when on teams calls his colleagues are all extremely jealous 😂 He has them all mounted in his office.

Also keeps him occupied for hours 😉
