I'm holding out on this monster truck in case it's reduced anymore (have already set an alert for Amazon too)

Does anyone know if prime day is good for toys or is it more tech bits etc?

Any ideas for small (in size) or light gifts I can bring on holiday abroad for a pre Christmas birthday for my 13 year old DD? Really blank at the moment so any ideas would be great.

Callmesleepy · 27/09/2023 21:27

@Threeboysadogandacat that's potentially a good one for an almost 4 year old but Smiggle is always dreadful quality. Worth finding a more solid one if you can. Mine loved his hooded blanket from 5poundstuff, a marble run, magnetic tiles, and Duplo if you're looking for ideas.

@Aquicksitdown thanks for the wax melt burner tip!

I signed up for emails, got £10 credit and bought 2 oil burners to collect in my local store for £2!!!

Hi how did you get the credit please? I’ve signed up for the newsletter email but no code.

BeastOfBODMAS · 27/09/2023 21:34

Thank you for the Oliver bonas credit tip, I bought some microfibre plant dusting gloves for the nutter in my life who will wear them at the same time as her floor polishing slippers

NickMyLipple · 27/09/2023 21:36

It added to my online account, so once I signed up, it showed as credit in my account on Oliver Bonas when I'd logged in and gone through to the checkout.

Blessedbethefruitz · 27/09/2023 21:40

@jamrolypolyandcustard I got this for £40 in January sales 2 years ago from asda. Random gift while I was stuck at home with new baby sister! £45 is pretty good with inflation!

Oh fab I think I'll purchase now and hope for the best! He's had a go of his friends who has one and hasn't stopped going on about Santa bringing one 🤣

I was also wondering this too @jamrolypolyandcustard - just can't justify £45!! I saw on camel camel they went to £28.99 briefly at what looked like nov time last year so I wondered if it was Black Friday/prime day offers?

Famousthehero · 27/09/2023 21:53

One of the many bargain pages I now follow mentioned Lindt balls - lots of the 16 ball pack flavours reduced to £4.25 from £6 and more money off if you subscribe and save.
A nice present topper upper maybe.

jamrolypolyandcustard · 27/09/2023 21:56

@Laney79 that's what I'm also hoping however I don't want to leave it too late near the start of Christmas shopping. The price constantly changes on Amazon though and will only drop for a certain amount of time (usually the middle of the night) and it'll be full price again by 8am. Worked this out when DS5 was up with croup and didn't want to nod off in case he was unwell

jamrolypolyandcustard · 27/09/2023 21:58

Anyone know when the matching family Christmas pyjamas will be out at Asda? 🫣

KenIsAnAccessory · 27/09/2023 22:01

I know this is probably a common question but after a good deal on a Nintendo DS... if anyone sees one I'd be mega grateful for a heads up, pretty please!

I don't actually know what I'm looking for but DN has just mentioned she would like a rainbowcorn that comes in an egg. I've looked on Amazon and they seem extortionate for a soft toy - has anyone seen any bargains?

Assuming they do different sizes but there is a selection in Smyths for £14.99 which sound a decent size 28cm height?! When searching they are rainbocorn (who knows...) as someone who LOVED a TY beanie, I would buy one if it was going to be a hit for a DN!

Blessedbethefruitz · 27/09/2023 22:08

@jamrolypolyandcustard We have the even larger el toro loco with sound effects from santa this year for ds almost 5 - it's been here for 3 years I swear as we then deemed him not ready for an rc 😅 I fear for his wobbly walking sister and her Christmas walking lamb...

Oh gosh DS had one of the grave digger ones super cheap from TK MAXX last year and it was deemed an outdoor toy very quick! It's too fast for him to control so we took it to the skate park and after a few scrapes and a batter, it's still good as new!

evtheria · 27/09/2023 22:16

@Delahot Depending on what she's into...

facemasks/lipmasks, a gift card to music/streaming/audible sub, multipack of rings (H&M do loads), Sennelier Aqua-mini (watercolour) palette (+ small paper pad), new phone case and extra long lead, one of those 3 in 1 makeup sticks by Glossier or Milk or something, a book, cute or funny socks...

Honeyandwine · 27/09/2023 22:17

@Threeboysadogandacat My 4 Yr old boy would love that!

CanIPutTheTreeUpYet · 27/09/2023 22:17

Brilliant price, CamelCamelCamel prices it as lowest being £15.60 so not a bad bargain price atm!

@Christmalights you need Micro Machines. Excellent value, slightly niche and might only get vintage ones but I love mine. Ebay has a Star Wars The Force Awakens Micro Machines Millenium Falcon Playset for £10.00 plus £2.87 P+P but other sets are available.

evtheria · 27/09/2023 22:18

@Delahot or if you're thinking one 'big' small sized gift, there are mini printers for smartphones! EG Fuji Instax Mini Link 2

Birdienumnumm · 27/09/2023 22:21

I remember people on previous year’s threads claiming that they used their velvetiser all the time, every day etc and I didn’t believe it.

I bought one for my kids and, apart from summer, we use it every day. It’s so simple to use and to clean, that my kids just make themselves one, rinse the frother thing and it’s ready to use again. It sits next to the kettle.

My kids found the HC chocolate a bit bitter (not used to such high percentages of cocoa), so I had them and we’ve never restocked. You get just as velvety consistency from any chocolate powder made for adding to milk, like nesquick, and we’ve recently got a Starbucks hot choc tin, which is really nice.
