As the title says! I’m thinking particularly food stuff from the supermarkets.
For me it’s lidls mini stollen,
marks and Spencer’s clementines
marks and Spencer’s panettone

I love all the food items you only get at Christmas- if we had them year round they wouldn’t be so exciting!!

I used to love a Christmas tin of Quality Street but they were disgusting last year so won't bother. The chocolate was cheap and waxy, yuck!!

Pleasenowthatsenough · 12/09/2023 16:53

@Lorrymum So disappointing isn’t it?! But I bet I still end up buying some this year as Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the Quality Street, even if they don’t get eaten!

You are right. Christmas without Quality Street in the cupboard , isn't Christmas!

Bubbleandsqueak22 · 13/09/2023 09:05

Yes to panettone!

TK Maxx have been selling panettone throughout the year. It's not the same though.

MyShmoo · 13/09/2023 10:33

Christma is all about the cheeses for me. Yes I can get them anytime but I don't because I would weigh 40 stone. So I overindulge in december without any guilt and eat cheese in moderation the remaining months.
Pate, french bread, chutneys, salami and every type of cheese imaginable 👌

Chocolate brazils for me too, too expensive to have usually but always have some Christmas Eve, yum!

A chocolate orange
Espresso martinis
Merry Munch
Maple Pretzels

@doglikescheeseontoast @Seashellies where are you buying your chocolate Brazil nuts?

foxlover47 · 13/09/2023 10:46

I love mince pies and tried the m&s ones last year they are my absolute fave so will def be getting a few boxes of them

NickyOy · 13/09/2023 10:47

Cheese with nice chutney particularly Wensleydale with cranberries
Greggs festive bakes
Rum balls
Reindeer shaped crumpet for Christmas day breakfast
Costa reindeer muffins
Chocolate, lots of chocolate. I hate dried fruit with a passion, so have no interest in Christmas cake, mince pies, stollen or Christmas pudding so chocolate and chocolate desserts are my thing at Christmas. Have to have a Terry's chocolate orange and Lindor, lots of Lindor

LadyBird1973 · 13/09/2023 12:07

Advocaat (how do you spell this?) and lemonade.

Gingerbread

Slices of Christmas cake covered in butter.

Bread sauce and roast potatoes

Mulled wine

Chocolate baileys type drink.

HalloumiFries · 13/09/2023 12:23

I've not got too much of a sweet tooth and detest dried fruit so for me it's all about the cheese and other savouries. But especially the cheese!

Cheese
pate
boxing day turkey sandwiches with bloomer bread, dark turkey meat reheated in gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce and maybe a slice of brie.
cheese
pigs in blankets
shredded sprouts with bacon and chestnuts
cheese
Roast duck around a week before christmas so that I can collect the fat for the christmas roasties
honey roast carrots and parsnips
Really salty warm pretzels from the christmas market
twiglets and cheeselets
Did I mention the cheese?

On the sweet side, Nigella's clementine cake is christmas for me. I do like lebkuchen and the spiced biscuits from Lidl, also the gingerbread hearts willed with jam but they all come in huge bags and after I've had one or two, I never want to look at them again for the rest of the festive period so it always seems like a waste.

Rainbow1901 · 13/09/2023 19:53

Pretty much anything as long as it's not Brussels Sprouts, Parsnips or Chocolate!!

sittingonacornflake · 13/09/2023 20:20

All this talk of Lidl has reminded me that last year they had some really lovely reindeer shaped biscuits with some kind of red icing on them. They were great to whip out on play dates and were actually really delicious too!

ToughFuss · 14/09/2023 07:30

Hold the front page, Lidl have the mini stollen in already!! I bought a pack with my shopping yesterday… to quote Joey from Friends, ‘I’m not even sorry!’ 😂

Bubbleandsqueak22 · 14/09/2023 08:36
