Are these suitable for a 9 year old boy? Need to buy a gift for a boy I don’t know very well.

I think it depends on the kid really. My 10 and 6 year old boys like them, the 8 year old is not bothered. They are quite nifty little things though, the fold into a ball and then spring out when you throw them down on a magnetic card.
