i left it to DM to decide as a large turkey is expensive and nobody likes it much anyway - we prefer chicken
so we have chicken
my ds, who is cooking, is disappointed.
this is the first year apart from the 15 vegetarian years when i havent had turkey

what meat are you having?

Lamb here. Realised one year that we were just tolerating the turkey but everyone loved lamb.
That is my dp and dh and I.
After my df died I did turkey the odd year but afterwards thought why had I not done the lamb. So lamb ever since though I would really love to do salmon. Which I will maybe persuade dh to do some year as we are now on our own for Christmas since all parents have now passed.

LetUsPonce · 25/12/2022 09:09

Duck - same as every year.

thejadefish · 25/12/2022 09:10

We usually roast a chicken (only 2 adults so we'd never get through a turkey anyway) but as we had a roast chicken a few days ago its chicken & bacon pie with mash and veg today. DH loves pie and I rarely make them (faff and very calorific, especially as he could easily eat 3 portions by himself because he likes it so much) so for him its a treat!

Went to Tescos about 4.30 yesterday & the fresh turkeys were massively reduced but we already have topside of beef & no space in the freezer! We’re having the beef marinated in juniper berries, allspice berries, coriander seeds & black peppercorns yum.

lanthanum · 25/12/2022 09:23

Duck, which is what we usually have when there are only three of us.

DominoBlue · 25/12/2022 09:29

We killed a pig. Nut roast with mushrooms wrapped in pastry for the veggies.

anonacfr · 25/12/2022 09:31

Guinea fowl here.
No-one in the family likes turkey much.

ProfYaffle · 25/12/2022 09:35

Chicken here too plus really nice pigs in blankets from the butchers. We're a bit 'meh' about turkey so don't see the point in paying loads for it.

Stopclutchingpearls · 25/12/2022 09:35

Duck can’t wait

SongforWhoever · 25/12/2022 09:35

I'm cooking beef today as there's only two of us. I will cook turkey tomorrow when the rest of the family are here. We all really like turkey and I buy it at the other times of the year as well. It surprises me so many people seem to dislike it.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/12/2022 09:36

Fillet Steak, Dolphin nose potatoes (prepped by DMIL yesterday), garlic stuffed cheesy mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and buttered french beans.
Seven of us, DMIL lives with us in a wee adjoining Granny Flat, she’ll do the potatoes in her oven, our oven will do the mushrooms and tomatoes and we’re pan frying the steaks. It’s quite an easy meal to do for 7.

StrawberryWater · 25/12/2022 09:37

Chicken 🐓 🍗 🐔

None of us like turkey.

WalkingOnSonshine · 25/12/2022 09:37

Beef, ham, duck and salmon.

OOAOML · 25/12/2022 09:41

Duck

Billyhargrovesmullet · 25/12/2022 09:42

Chicken & gammon here as nobody likes turkey

MsRead · 25/12/2022 09:43

We had a garage freezer failure, so cooked the still cold enormous chicken and side of beef Christmas Eve and we will work our way through them cold with trimmings and then for days afterwards with salads, cheeses etc…

our elderly Boxer is delighted because she is working her way through prime pork sausages, beef mince, chicken breasts, sirloin steak etc… we are massively missing our greedy springer spaniel who we lost in November, he would have made short work of the dubious meat.

DipmeinChoc · 25/12/2022 09:43

Chicken Tikka Bhuna from the takeaway 😋

sunlovingcriminal · 25/12/2022 09:46

Beef Wellington! Tesco finest freezer one! Just me and DP this year so going simple with this, red cabbage & mash! 😋

user1964097 · 25/12/2022 09:47

We have chicken as there are only 3 of us, we always have chicken as I don't like having a load of leftovers past Christmas Day

Typo22 · 25/12/2022 09:50

Porchetta and chicken.
Never had Porchetta before so very excited!

Xtraincome · 25/12/2022 09:52

We are doing Persian lamb and rice with salad and flatbread.

We don't consider a roast that special. DM doing one tomorrow as I don't like the faff.

thisusernameisnotavailablepleasetryanother · 25/12/2022 09:53
