According to my DSis, Asda are giving veg away for free right now. I'm hoping he will find a 10p luxury turkey for New year!

I know this thread is lighthearted and it’s not really the point, but the thought of the amounts of food that must be getting wasted in the midst of all this is really appalling.

Was just thinking the same thing.
And also this just proves how much BS is in the press, they’ve been going on and on about the great turkey shortage of 2022 and yet, here we have, nearly every major supermarket giving them away for next to nowt.

Sainsbury’s had a whole salmon for £7.50, sadly I don’t think it would fit in our freezer.

I was going to lost that when I have done late shops there were always lots of whole salmons left. I'm the only person in the house who likes salmon and its a bit much for me 🤣

Sent DH put for whipping cream and to fill car with petrol and he came with a 1/2 price turkey and 1/2 price turkey crown. I have had to shuffle things in freezer and take fish out of boxes and put in plastic bags to fit these extra turkey's in. I will see if my sister wants one of them. He also got 2 Pukka pies for 20p each we had for lunch.

Morrisons had loads of clothes reduced. Managed to get a big fluffy men’s dressing gown, a child dressing gown, slippers, long sleeved top, 3 tins of crocs and two rolls of wrapping paper for £35 this afternoon.

I got in our Waitrose near closing time 5 boxes of 2 lamb shanks for 99p a box instead of £9.99!!

They're currently in my oven roasting as I can't for them in my freezer so I'll take the meat off the bones and then get the leftover veg tomorrow and make a curry with them to freeze 🥶 I'm very happy

Went to asda this afternoon because I've been putting the shopping off for days.
Got an XL turkey crown dated the 27th for £3.50 and free bags of carrots, sprouts, parsnips and broccolis so a very cheap Christmas Dinner for us.

They had literally a small mountain of veg and lots of turkeys.
