I've just sent DH and DSs to the supermarket to hunt for bargains! What will they come back with?

According to my DSis, Asda are giving veg away for free right now. I'm hoping he will find a 10p luxury turkey for New year!

Utterly disappointed. They failed to get anything other than a bit of wensleydale and a cucumber.😂

Went to Morrisons and Asda around 7am this morning. Not a bargain in sight but so quiet, I was more than happy to part with £160 😬

FantaTv · 24/12/2022 19:52

£1.25 trifle here 🙌🏻

AnotherCF · 24/12/2022 20:06

Noon, aldi. 75 percent off meat dated boxing day as they are closed on 26th. Turkey crown for 3 quid and a cranberry orange stuffed chicken in a bag for just over a pound.

BCBird · 24/12/2022 20:13

Pre Covid me and mate used to do this. Minimising risk now
I'm.following a gluten free diet now and think it pointless as I won't be able to eat at of desserts I would have ususlly bought. Hope u all get bargains.

LaMariposa · 24/12/2022 20:14

Nothing as son is full of the lergy and just wanted to sleep on me, and DH refused to go out.

Refrosty · 24/12/2022 20:14

I couldn't find Wensleydale today! Count yourself fortunate 🤣

ItsACrater · 24/12/2022 20:14

Leaves, bags of them. Stir fry - bags.

JustLyra · 24/12/2022 20:18

Unusually the supermarket here had loads reduced today!

DH basically filled our chest freezer for £35. BIL did the same and they said they could have done it a dozen times over. Turkey crowns, beef joints and hams for £2/3 each. Duck crown was £1.50 😮Plus loads of freezable sides.

I messaged the guy that runs the local
food bank because they sometimes buy stuff and he said they’d already had a massive donation from the shop!

Something must have gone wrong with an order as they just had so much.

jimmyjammy001 · 24/12/2022 20:19

Nothing in Asdas at all, reduced turkeys by like 20% off, even fruit was only like 35% off, veg was probs half price, none of the selection boxes or Xmas sweets been reduced, in morrisons they have

izzyislington · 24/12/2022 20:21

DD works in an artisan type deli which is now closed until after NewYear - she's brought home a huge array of unsold perishable food tonight! Yum yum!

cashmerecardigans · 24/12/2022 20:23

Half price turkey crowns in m and s about 5pm. Down from 55 to 28. Not much else reduced though, plenty of longer date turkeys on the shelf at full price

whatatanker · 24/12/2022 20:29

Covid probably.

BCBird · 24/12/2022 20:36

Wensleydale and a cucumber 🤣

LivIoe · 24/12/2022 20:37

I went to my local co op half an hour before closing and thought they were delusional frankly. The Turkey crowns were still £24 and they had them the length of the fridge

SUPsUP · 24/12/2022 20:38

I got a 16p poinsettia from Asda today. Sadly food shop already done so couldn’t hit the yellow label aisle

hellycat · 24/12/2022 20:39

B&M where I live were selling artificial trees half price today, some nice ones reduced from £130 to £60. I think that's it - I think the shops are whipping everything away tonight, very few discounted Xmas things available after Christmas now. In fact, Tesco were clearing their shelves on Friday when I was in.

elmooie · 24/12/2022 20:40

Local Morrisons and Aldi half price turkeys for about £10-14 first thing this morning. Also half price turkduckens (why eat one bird when you can stuff 3 different types together 😄) Both supermarkets surprisingly calm and quiet

labazslovesliving · 24/12/2022 20:40

We had two 2good2waste bags tonite the one from Coop was 3 lots of different bread, a bean and cheese wrap, yogurt, rolls, chicken pops, and Spar was corned beef slices, a large pack of ham, tikka chicken, salad and hummus all eatable by hubby but not for me but not a bad lot

oakleaffy · 24/12/2022 20:40

Son as a student worked part time at Waitrose
their rotisserie hot chickens were 50p at end of day to staff if any were unsold.
Delicious!
They needed eating that day, and the dogs loved it, too .
Waste not, want not.

Whycanineverever · 24/12/2022 20:50

I got a tgtg bag from the local food delivery place. That wasn't bad. I tried for the mini waitrose in the garden centre but missed out on that one - reckon that would have been good.

Anotherselfemployedcleaner · 24/12/2022 20:50

Ran out of wrapping paper, so went to Waitrose at approx 4pm - very quiet.

Picked up 3 packs of party food reduced from £5-£7 to 50p each, and a small turkey breast crown reduced from £20.38 to £1.93 - all dated 26/12.

gemsgv · 24/12/2022 21:02

Imagine being sent to the supermarket

Cantthinkofadifferentname · 24/12/2022 21:02

Got too good to go bags x 2 ended up with 32 mince pies! And not much else

ShirleyPhallus · 24/12/2022 21:04

wibblewobbleball · 24/12/2022 18:46

Why would you not just say "I went to the big tesco"? Confused

My money is on Sainsbo or Waitro. Or Aldo.
