DPD!

5 days in a row I have received the dreaded message of 'due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to deliver your parcel'

I would mind less if there was an option to pick it up -but no!

So frustrating

Without a doubt for me its EVRI . So much so that I now avoid any retailer that use them 😤

Some years ago I was expecting a parcel from Yodel. I received three emails saying they had attempted delivery to my home address - but we were in at the time of all of the alleged attempts. I then arranged to have it delivered to my place of work, which received regular Yodel deliveries and as a result I knew that particular driver fairly well. He told me that whenever a delivery is attempted but not completed, the driver is supposed to put a sticker on the parcel. When the parcel finally turned up, guess how many "Attempted Delivery" stickers were on it? Yes, that's right: a number somewhere between 0 and -1.

HashtagShitShop · 01/01/2023 14:16

Evri for me. Despite the fact he gave away that he only lives on the next block he tried to steal a parcel of mine and then turned getting it back into a farce. I assume to hide the fact he'd clearly opened it and it was ransacked.

OffToThatPlace · 01/01/2023 14:46

DX are appalling here.

DPD used to be excellent, very reliable with lovely polite drivers, but recently they have massively gone downhill. We now have rude drivers in tatty old vans, delayed deliveries, damaged deliveries, delivered to wrong address.

Royal Mail are OK here when not on strike.

goody2shooz · 01/01/2023 14:48

@Adviceneeded200 - how did you achieve the miraculous and get someone/something to acknowledge the parcel was missing?? That’s a major achievement!

LlynTegid · 01/01/2023 14:52

This thread gives me an opportunity to reiterate my proposal that you should by law have to be told who the parcel carrier is, before you place and pay for any online order.

I am sure that this would lead to improved parcel deliveries, as companies would drop poor ones (or offer good ones for a slightly higher cost and then it is your lookout if you choose a poor one).

Adviceneeded200 · 01/01/2023 15:13

@goody2shooz
I guess I haven't yet. They are "interviewing the driver" and will report back in 48 hours with the outcome of their investigation.

I have suggested their "arguments" don't make sense.

"Left in a safe place (porch)". Why when 3 of us were in? We don't have a porch - can they provide a photo like many take nowadays? The "porch" was "safe"- we don't have a porch, do they mean front step - in which case it's not safe as we front a road? It was scanned at exact location at 2.32 - can they send me a copy of this "perfect location scan" as the delivery email arrived at 18.00 which is unusual behaviour for delivery emails (usually they arrive within minutes of the courier leaving)

We wait and see. Luckily (for me) the item cost me 99p on ebay and under £5 total. Phew.

daffodilandtulip · 01/01/2023 15:24

Royal Mail ... had my 48hr parcel from mid November until 23rd December. At which point, they delivered the empty packaging, wrapped in an apology bag saying if something's missing to call them. Tracking shows delivered so shop won't refund.

Inertia · 01/01/2023 15:30

DPD usually good here, but one of DH’s Christmas presents had a fortnight-long holiday in Stoke, while I got daily messages that they would deliver that day. Only turned up when I asked the shop gor my money back .

justanothermanicmonday21 · 01/01/2023 16:22

Royal Mail! Actually I have to say Ebro round here was the best before Xmas I got next day delivery on anything delivered through them even when I hadn't paid for it! All my presents arrived even something i ordered on 23rd!

tartlets · 01/01/2023 16:33

I've had 2 deliveries since Christmas via DPD, the first delivered a day early and the second delivered 3 days before it was due, on a Saturday (with no upgrade requested to Saturday service) both deliveries before 9am. Evri on the other hand... we don't have a courier for our area and parcels seem to sit in an eternal loop of incompetence and never ever arrive.

heartchakra · 01/01/2023 16:34

Evri

RosyPie6 · 01/01/2023 16:37

I paid next day delivery with DPD I received my parcel 13 days later. I kept getting the dread due to unforeseen circumstances message but with zero context. Whatever was happening seemed to be affecting our area ( I think it's the Stoke depot). This was before Christmas as well so not ideal.

Also, could not get in touch with any customer service to complain that I paid for a service that I didn't receive

Sideorderofchips · 01/01/2023 16:58

Royal mail

Evri have actually been really good

Bananabrain99 · 01/01/2023 17:09

DPD next day delivery due to arrive 30th November and still not got it. 2 emails received one saying they have had too much demand so would be a delay Sent on 30th, and one just before Christmas after I chased online just saying they're looking into it I don't think I will ever see my parcel again which is my luggage left by accident in a hotel so I think I will only get 50 pounds back 😥

Canthave2manycats · 01/01/2023 17:41

The Unroyal Fail delivered my gas bill dated 30 November, on 30 December... It was meant to be paid by 19 December! Time this shit was moved online!

Tamarindtree · 01/01/2023 17:45

EVRI and DPD are fantastic here. Amazon is hit and miss but the worst is UPS.

Abraxan · 01/01/2023 17:56

It's Royal Mail here.

Evri have been really reliable this Christmas fortunately - as a lot of the parcels we've had sent have been with them. Amazon has been the best I think for us with everything arriving next day or 2 day delivery - basically arriving when they are supposed to. Not sure we have had DPD recently.

Main issue we have with RM is that, even when they have tried to deliver, they won't leave the parcels in our 'safe place' - doesn't matter what I try to do on the RM app it just isn't left. Tracking only seems to kick in after an unsuccessful delivery too so can't easily chase. So nothing ever gets delivered on time - you can't just stay in indefinitely incase they decide to deliver that day - and then it goes to the delivery office, where the opening hours are now so limited you have to wait days to collect or have it rearranged delivery. Its currently not open til 4 January for an unsuccessful delivery a few days ago.

MarshaBradyo · 01/01/2023 17:58

DPD is always good here

This!

Every other delivery company manage to deliver to safe place or leave by the bin, even if not specified to do so. All over Christmas i had parcels delivered successfully within days. RM however...

Yesterday had the dreaded card through the door saying it's gone to their main office. The main office is only open between 9 and 2, so working hours for most people. I arranged for redelivery but won't get it till Wednesday now, a week after I ordered it.

RM are the worst and so outdated! I won't be sad to see them go.

Lansonmaid · 01/01/2023 19:25

DPD were shite, ordered a Secret Santa present on 12th December for a party on 16th December and paid extra for next day delivery. Got the 'we were unable to find your address' message 2 day's running so redirected to the local post office . By 23rd December I was getting fed up with the 'unexpected problems' messages so got a refund from the company I bought the present from. In contrast, our cheerful Evri driver turned up in the snow to deliver our dog food 2 days after it was ordered and Prime have been excellent.

PangoPurrl · 01/01/2023 19:42

100% Amazon for me. Not because they don't deliver/aren't prompt but because it's become more and more the norm for them not to knock and/or to leave parcels in full view on my doorstep. They used to leave out of view behind the bins (which they pass getting to my door step) at least if noone in (and in the recycling bin in wet weather.) I've gotten so many soaking wet parcels recently, due to being out or not seeing delivery notifications for several hours due to working (from home!) I haven't once complained even though I have to use them a lot for my business, as from reading about the realities of working for them i gather their drivers are very poorly paid and just don't have the time to give better service, so don't want to risk getting any of them in to trouble.

Iamnotausername · 01/01/2023 20:01

Yodel.

To the point where I avoid companies who use them.

The last time I did, I was in all day, and got an email they said they delivered my parcel. They didn't and I didn't even get a card through the door. They effectively called me a liar and refused to even look into it. None of my neighbours had it. Eventually someone 2 streets away knocked on my door very angry that I he'd had my large parcel blocking his hall and I hadn't collected it.

Cakecakecheese · 01/01/2023 21:23

My partner ordered something from DPD recently. He got a sorry we missed you email, our doorbell camera footage shows nobody got out of the van. Redelivery was meant to be the next day but there were unexpected issues. It did eventually get delivered.

Had two Royal Mail red cards but that afternoon a guy knocked on my door, he noticed two parcels on top of a postbox and they had my address on them so he brought them round.

I'm always happy if I'm due to get a parcel from Evri as my neighbour delivers for them, it's very handy.

Ive just Googled and it appears that DPD Staffordshire have been on strike before and during Christmas. It was announced in the Staffordshire Sentinel apparently... very quietly.
