DPD!

5 days in a row I have received the dreaded message of 'due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to deliver your parcel'

I would mind less if there was an option to pick it up -but no!

So frustrating

I rearranged a DPD delivery to arrive yesterday, all day yesterday on their app it said they had it and would text once out for delivery, got trapped in a loop with the chatbot saying there'd be an update at11am.

No update, spent 25 mins on hold to get through to customer service and when it did pick up, she said immediately she couldn't help (before I gave and details!?) and refused to talk anymore- could still here her typing and all the background noise from the call centre. I hung up after a couple of mins when obvious noone was coming back!

Contacted the retailer, and they've lost the parcel at the depot - why can't the app just say that?!

Do you think rearranging delivery day makes it more likely it gets lost?

LadyAstor · 24/12/2022 23:51

“Do you think rearranging delivery day makes it more likely it gets lost?”

Yes, in my experience. If you do this, it can take days for parcels to turn up.

LadyAstor · 01/01/2023 11:44

Just updating this thread to say that another parcel of mine has been lost/detained by DPD.

Sent on 21st December by Tracked 24 hour service as it contained food/perishables for Christmas. Notice received on the 23rd to say "oops! unforeseen circumstances (or some other bullshit). Then updated on the 27th to say its been dropped at a DPD distribution centre (shop), but no clue as to which one.

Just checked and its now marked for delivery on the 2nd when I'll be out at work!

Ive complained to the company who sent it.

Royal mail. Not one single delivery attempted even got the slip through the door while indoors!

The Evri driver is an absolute Saint round here

Our Evri driver is fantastic.

I like my Royal Mail postman. He's very creative with the hiding of parcels and I have a little chuckle at where he's put it this week.

I have no issues at the moment but earlier in year it was UPS nominated for the shit delivery company award. Yodel the year before that.

SilverSpring · 01/01/2023 12:00

Royal Mail/Evri toss up here.

Royal Mail took nearly a month to deliver a Christmas present so it arrived after the 25th, two weeks to deliver birthday cards blah.

Evri lost new DIL’s Christmas present, the prescription cat food and kept telling me they’d been delivered to a corner shop about a mile away when they hadn’t 🤡

There should be an option to know which courier before clicking “buy” so you can opt for a different one or to click and collect if you know they are shit in your area.

ChigedyJigHeeHawHeeHawItsDominicTheDonkey · 01/01/2023 12:16

I've had 2 DPD deliveries in the last few weeks. Both have been spot on. First one was delayed due to adverse weather conditions but I got emails and texts updating to let me know.

romany4 · 01/01/2023 12:30

Royal mail for me.
Sent Mum a present on 14th December. First class recorded. Still hasn't arrived.
Ordered things for DH and they were all delivered before Christmas by Evri.

Anotherbloomingchristmas · 01/01/2023 12:38

Royal Mail this year.
Sent a tracked international parcel and it took a week to leave the country.

Last year DHL lied to dd constantly about a delivery and eventually admitted it was ‘missing’ from the depot.
It was a complete pram and car seat system worth over £1000.
The whole system had to be reordered by the supplier and dd was allowed to fetch it from the shop.

DPD are far and away the best delivery company for me. They always arrive on time, friendly drivers, help carry in heavy things.

Before the RM strikes it was Evri.

This

Royal Mail. I will never use any company who use them ever again.

Ill really miss John Lewis

CatNutsRoastingByAnOpenFire · 01/01/2023 12:43

DPD is useless round here. I didn't get to the door before they buggered off and left me a card.
I had to sign up to their site to get delivery details from the ref. number on the card, it didn't work.
Finally got it to work and it showed that the item had been delivered to an address in Scotland. I am in the London area.
I had to notify the seller and they sent a replacement.

Royal Mail also hit and miss when not on strike, find letters dropped on the pavement, my stuff goes to one of 2 neighbouring roads, usually retrieved as it is tracked, until last time when it was tracked but never found. Signed for stuff addresses correctly to this address shoved in neighbours letterbox. If it's not one of the regular posties it is left on the step.

Evri and Yodel and great here. I ask for Evri if there is a choice, and also if the seller uses Royal Mail, I will ask if they can use Evri or write the address in huge letters and underline the street name as someone needs to go to Specsavers or retire if they can't do the job any more, it was never like this until this year, think postie should call it a day as it is clearly too much for him now.

jtaeapa · 01/01/2023 12:44

DPD have surprisingly fallen down recently. I have a parcel from November that is completely missing (got refunded). DPD also deliver hello fresh - I have 2 boxes that come together and this time only got one. 5 missing meals!

Royal Mail kept a parcel that I needed for 3 weeks so I was pretty pissed about that.

Amazon is the clear winner.

Ragwort · 01/01/2023 12:49

I know this will get laughed at but it's why I just never buy anything online, if I can't buy it in a physical shop (& I don't really have much of a decent choice of shops where I live) I just do without ....

goody2shooz · 01/01/2023 12:55

A parcel I sent with Evri has not been updated since it was dropped off at the parcel shop on the 19th of December. Even more annoying is that I paid for next day delivery. Their customer ‘service’ is deliberately designed so that you cannot raise an issue, or ask for a claim form, or report it as missing. Am going to send a ‘signed for’ letter to their head office - probably just more money wasted.

That's pretty impressive.
I needed a part for my vacuum. I just couldn't get it in a physical shop anywhere nearby.

I wouldn't send it by Royal Mail if I were you...unless you wait until the strike is over and all the heaps of abandoned mail is cleared from outside the sorting offices.

ChristmasCwtch · 01/01/2023 13:07

Our Evri and DPD delivery guys are great. Amazing super reliable. Never had a problem with Yodel.

Royal Mail has been dreadful!! Although our actual postman is lovely.

ChristmasCwtch · 01/01/2023 13:08

Amazing = Amazon. But they are amazing and reliable, so typo works too 😂

DNBU · 01/01/2023 13:11

Royal Mail dumped two parcels in a bush in my front garden, they got absolutely drenched through as they weren’t in plastic and we were out, didn’t see them for two days. They were sent ‘signed for’ too.

ToWhitToWhoo · 01/01/2023 13:25

DX (though this is based on experiences some time ago)

Adviceneeded200 · 01/01/2023 13:31

Currently have an

Evri "stuck due to major incident on 24th December". Guessing the major incident was Christmas but its not moved since. The driver is being "interviewed". I'm waiting for the outcome and then maybe it'll be a refund.

Evri - item delivered broken. Obviously not sure who to blame for this one. It was an antique and probably should have been better packaged. It wasn't too bad but could have been better. Refund from supplier on its way.

Yodel - item delivered to a safe place "porch". Not received. We were in all day and received other packages. Oh, and we don't have a porch just a front step that fronts a road. Driver "being interviewed". No idea what will happen with this one as ebay seller seems to have washed his hands of it. Perhaps understandably as the tracking says delivered?

Iliveditwizbit · 01/01/2023 13:35

DPD!!!!!!!!
guaranteed Christmas delivery parcel supposed to arrive 21st, arrived in bham from Netherlands 19th, main big expensive present, arrived yesterday 🙈

Bigboysmademedoit · 01/01/2023 13:37

Our EVRI driver is amazing - he goes over and above so sometimes it’s not the company but the individuals.

Wannakisstheteacher · 01/01/2023 13:54

DPD are by far the best. The worst are Evri (I love the way they changed the name but none of their awful service) and FedEx close behind.

Elphame · 01/01/2023 14:04

I'm awaiting a delivery of frozen dog food from DPD.

It was due on the 22nd December and has still not arrived. I hope it doesn't now as it will be rotting.
