A lot frustrated posters here (me included) so thought I'd start a lighter Christmas thread for us all to think about what we can't wait for this Christmas (yes, including it just being over and done with Grin i'll go first.

It's my youngest and final child's first Christmas.
Having a small one this year with just us, BIL and SIL who are bringing half the stuff and staying the night.
Further in-laws coming on Boxing Day, then coming back on New Years eve possibly so us and BIL/SIL (who is my best friend) can go out child free!

What are you looking forward to this year?

Seeing my family on Boxing Day, my Dad in particular as he is elderly & possibly not too many more Christmas get togethers left

ifonly4 · 21/12/2022 16:11

Obviously we love seeing everyone, but we've potentially got four days to ourselves after Xmas, so will be nice to just be ourselves have a lazy morning or go out somewhere.

I do enjoy having DD home from uni, even though she's messy and the kitchen is regularly a bombsite.

PrescriptionOnlyMedicine · 21/12/2022 16:12

Christmas dinner (which I’m not cooking) is my favourite meal of the year. Looking forward to this A LOT.

TentoFive · 21/12/2022 16:13

Cheese. So much cheese.

emmathedilemma · 21/12/2022 16:29

Xmas Day parkrun

EdithStourton · 21/12/2022 16:39

Having all the (adult) DC home for Christmas.

noscoobydoodle · 21/12/2022 17:05

Taking my children to London to see the lights and do some sightseeing (their first London visit).
Watching ALL the Christmas films
Watching my DD open a toy that she wants but knows isn't made any more so she thinks she won't get it. Thanks to Vinted I found one and it was a bargain!

hattie43 · 21/12/2022 17:10

I'm feeling disappointed as my Xmas involved a long dog walk each day and it's forcast to rain . My dogs don't do rain . However time to relax , eat , drink without guilt is always welcome

FestiveCrunch · 21/12/2022 17:10

The roast goose
Wine drinking - and not just at the weekend

Son being home from uni

Having a small family gathering (first in 3 years)

Chocolate

Everyone (hopefully) in a good mood!

Just tested positive with Covid so really don't know! Family visits won't happen now but I will get lots of rest. Don't really want to eat so will look for some snacky treats to be delivered tomorrow!

Lottapianos · 21/12/2022 17:18

Not having to see any family. Did the family visits earlier in December so it's just me and DP. No hassle, no stress, no guilt trips - just nice food and drink, rest, books, lots of telly, exercise, and a couple of drinks / lunches with friends

Rosiepeta · 21/12/2022 17:27

Seeing my in laws for the 1st time in 3 years! (They are coming home from abroad)
We are so excited!
That and the gifts I've got my children which they would never expect so i can't wait to see their faces!
Merry Christmas to you all !!

whowantssmore · 21/12/2022 17:28

Just having a few days off work to relax with the kids. We are having a quiet Christmas just us. Then on boxing day they go with their dad to have a big family get together with his family. I can have a few days to myself to lounge on the couch safe in the knowledge they are having a great time and being spoiled rotten. I've also got myself a few gifts that i am really looking forward to.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/12/2022 17:46

Coming home on Boxing Day to sleep in my own bed and eat food that I like, after 3 days of camping on PiL's floor and eating passive aggressive veggie food (I'm veggie, PiL aren't).

RobinRobinMouse · 21/12/2022 17:54

Watching dd open her stocking and then realising that Father Christmas has also delivered another gift downstairs, she is 4 and absolutely enthralled by the magic of it. I can't wait to see it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/12/2022 17:54

Setting off on Friday morning to a seaside cabin on a farm to spend Christmas with just our kids in the middle of nowhere. I cannot wait!

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 21/12/2022 17:57

Not hosting, having a lovely time with my sis, not having to put up with my MIL's histrionics!

MsChatterbox · 21/12/2022 17:58

Watching my kids open their presents!

Findyourneutralspace · 21/12/2022 18:06

Christmas dinner! Everything about it.

Cooking it, with a glass of Prosecco, listening to Christmas radio, sitting at the table with my mum and both my teens (rare), everyone being in a good mood, eating too many pigs in blankets and collapsing on the couch with the Quality Street while they all do the washing up.

Blessedbethefruitz · 21/12/2022 18:12

Giving ds almost 4 and dp their gifts. They're absolutely perfect this year :) Baby girl will be 11 months and will have to be kept from eating the wrapping paper but otherwise she won't care haha. Also our first Christmas as a family of four!

We've had a difficult year with illness and job loss and my first 3 months at my new job have been insane and my fuck it bucket is empty - I'm really excited to not be working!

NoNamesLeft234678 · 21/12/2022 18:17

My ds (almost 16 months) is getting a toy kitchen, gymnastics bar, VTech Grow and Grow ride on and some toy cars and I can't wait to see him play with them all as he will love them 🥰
I'm also doing a buffet on Christmas Day as we're going to Toby Cavery on Christmas eve 😝

warofthemonstertrucks · 21/12/2022 18:21

After Christmas when the respective kids have gone to their other parents Dh and I have booked ourselves a really fancy lunch, just us.
We have had the worst year and despite normally loving Christmas I'm not feeling it at all this year. I'm stressed about, and at the same time not interested, in the whole thing. Im looking forward to the quiet time in between Christmas and new year when I can go to work, come back to just dh for a Few days and on the one day have our lovely lunch!

pallidbat · 21/12/2022 18:21

Watching my family open their gifts, I genuinely now enjoy giving more than I do receiving. Spending time with family all together which rarely happens. DP having time off at the same time as me. Loads of things, I bloody love Christmas!

Notonyournellykelly · 21/12/2022 18:23

Christmas day will be pretty relaxed at our house, so I'm looking forward to that. It's been an incredibly busy few weeks, not just with Christmas stuff, so I'm ready to chill out. Also, the food! I love Christmas dinner and all the other bits and bobs we have around Christmas. Looking forward to seeing my sister but glad she's only staying one night as we have a very small house!

RaininSummer · 21/12/2022 18:32

Having my two daughters, their partners and my granddaughters in one place together for a couple of days. Only happens once every year.
