Inspired by another thread where OP was disappointed in the present her husband got her.

What are the weirdest/worst/most disappointing presents you've received from your partner at Christmas.

My DP is a very sweet and kind man but is notoriously bad at choosing presents for me. He earns good money but is quite reluctant to spend it ever to put it politely. I, on the other hand, love getting him gifts and won't hesitate to get him whatever he's hinted at for Christmas/Birthday no matter the cost.

Some of the gifts he's got me for past Christmases;

>Some fake stick on nails (I never wear fake nails and they were so small they would only fit a childs hand, they almost look like they came free with a kiddies magazine)
>A bright pink hoodie 3 sizes too small (this was the "main prezzie" that year)
>A rape whistle (???)
>A pair of earrings I already owned and he has seen me wear many times
>Some plain black socks that were miles too big
>A pair of "posh scissors"

Please make me feel better by sharing your present fails.

A cheap cordless vac so I can clean my car more, which came in a telescope shaped box and I had been going on and on about wanting a telescope for most of the year.

A big cheap green plastic purse with cartoon owls on it.

I know there's more awful ones but I can't think of any right now, I'm still stewing about the vac 😂

A massive jar of pickled onions 😂

I would LOVE that! (They'd be gone within a week!)

My ex was absolutely awful at buying presents.

He once bought me a lap tray for my laptop as I WFH and complained about my office being chilly (this is long before covid, I've always WFH).

Sounds like a good gift, right? Except I had a desktop computer at the time..

I was gifted a Barbie advent calendar for Christmas by an elderly relative. I was 15..

It was quite fun eating all the chocolates in one go though 😊

My husband was given a Playboy bunny advent calendar by his grandmother (it was the 80s). He was 6 and didn't understand why the rest of the family were cracking up when he put on the bunny tail and hopped around the living room.

My friend gets me some rather strange things at times. Some are spot on but most are just hideous.

One year I thought she might secretly hate me as I got a beauty mirror that you could charge a phone on? Like wireless I think. Except it was clearlyand and the mirror had scratches all over it. No it didn't charge.

Accompanying them were these badges. I never wear badges at all so no idea why I got them. But the warning notice on the back of the packet really upset me.

Something about the material in the badges may cause cancer. What the actual fuck. Who would give someone something like that?

Weirdly since then the presents have been loads better but that was by far the most bizarre.

A paper shredder.
Which might have made more sense if there was not one already sitting in my study.
But he did also give me a very pretty necklace.

My husband likes to give me weird joke gifts so I get every year the Marigold gloves, tampons, sponges/fairy liquid in the stocking.. He does get really great gifts as well - he just thinks he's funny when I am sat there opening tampons or something!

I’d find this hilarious too

Not OH but my mum got me a Yankee Candle gift set shaped like a pretty house with candles in each of the windows to represent the 12 days of Christmas.

Except she'd removed half of the candles to keep for herself Confused

One Christmas, a few months after my daughter was born, I asked DH for a specific book that was a long-awaited sequel to a favourite book of mine. I couldn't wait to read it and was the only thing I asked for. So I was very pleased to see something that was clearly a book wrapped and under the tree. It was somewhat disappointing to open it to find he'd bought me a book on trees because he thought I'd like to identify trees for when I was taking baby DD and toddler DS out for walks. He said he knew I'd asked for the other book but didn't think I really had time for reading at the moment because I was so busy with the DC. I was disappointed and actually pretty angry about it!

And this wasn't my DH but my PIL...when I was pregnant with DC3, I put on a fair bit of weight quite quickly, quite early on and soon was struggling to squeeze into my clothes. I suggested to my DH that a couple of new jumpers that actually fit me might be a good Christmas present. He then passed this suggestion on to his parents. They bought me two lovely jumpers in a size smaller that my pre-pregnancy size as an 'incentive' to lose my pregnancy weight after I'd had the baby!! I still had six months to go at that point.

I don't think I've ever gotten anything odd from dh. He's very good at gift buying (much, much better than me, which is why he does all the gift buying for the dc and family).

But one year from MIL, I got a Baylis and Harding gift set (which is bad enough, frankly I'd just love a gift voucher to Boots and I can buy something I actually need). It came all wrapped but somewhat crushed. She admitted that it fell out the back of her boot while she was unloading shopping and then the neighbour ran it over on his mobility scooter. She still wrapped it up and gave it to me as if nothing had happened. 😂
