I'd like to buy a really nice box of chocs for us to have in for Christmas. Something a bit special and very tasty. Any ideas folks? Budget not important.

Co-op Christmas Florentines for me please.. or does Mrs Tilly’s tablet count?

Tdcp · 06/12/2022 16:39

I was gifted some hotel chocolat chocolates last year, they were amazing.

Venchi or Pierre Marcoloni.

MaisyMary77 · 06/12/2022 16:47

*Marcolini! No idea why spell check changed that one! 😀

Lily O'Briens are the best chocolates I've ever had! Mind you this was 10 years ago and they've probably gone down the same route as Cadbury and Thorntons now Sad

LabradorVibe · 06/12/2022 16:50

We've had some chocolate from Oban Chocolate which was gorgeous. You can order online, and there's an option to create your own box - so it's closer to what you could get visiting a chocolaterie in person

CriticalThinkingNeeded · 06/12/2022 17:07

Chococo is amazing. Could quite happily live on their truffles!

Handmade in Dorset.

Lily O'Briens are pretty nasty now, they used to be ok.

I like Prestat, Booja Booja (especially the Ecuadorian truffles) and Lindt.

DandelionPockets · 06/12/2022 17:13

I always go for Rococo chocolates when buying something extra special https://www.rococochocolates.com/collections/festive-chocolates-treats

Escapefromcolditz · 06/12/2022 17:14

Prestat are awesome but very expensive

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 06/12/2022 17:17

Kennedys are the best i’ve had:

@LabradorVibe
Ooh, thanks for that tip-off!

PearlclutchersInc · 06/12/2022 17:18

There are loads of chocolatiers around.

The Highland chocolatier
Sebastian Kobalt
Leonidas
Amelie

None particularly cheap however.

cheapskatemum · 06/12/2022 17:18

I got some House of Dorchester dark chocolates for my birthday and they are the most delicious chocolates I've ever eaten.

I'd forgotten about them, used to get them for parents years ago. They used to have a lovely coffee shop near Penrith.

MarcelEtCeleste · 06/12/2022 17:20

Venchi are a treat.

Rainlady · 06/12/2022 17:25

Charbonnel truffles. The sea salt caramel ones are my favourites.

I think Hotel Chocolat is hit and miss. Some I've had has been overpriced and not very nice at all, kind of cheap advent calendar chocolate, but I was recently gifted a dark chocolate selection box which was lovely!

Rainlady · 06/12/2022 17:26

Or just find a local chocolatier, most let you pick your own selection box and offer tastings if you go in store...

LINABE · 06/12/2022 17:28

Leonidas - by a mile.

Londonloubelia · 06/12/2022 17:28

Honestly the best chocolates I’ve had are :

www.digglechocolates.com

you won’t be disappointed. It is a small business with incredible award winning flavours and amazing designs.

Avrenim · 06/12/2022 17:31

Chocolate Utopia, Nottingham

The younger sis likes Butlers

And there are some gorgeous small chocolatiers in Cornwall snd Wales (or used to be...)

IDontWantToBeAPie · 06/12/2022 17:32

Charbonnel are nice and beautiful packaging

Defiantlynot41 · 06/12/2022 17:32

Paul a Young fine chocolates shop.paulayoung.co.uk/

The salted caramels are divine and you will never look at a ferrero rocher again if you try the hazelnut pralines! The mixed assorted truffles also gorgeous

notyourmam · 06/12/2022 17:34

Lauden! They're beautiful to look at and the flavours really pop. Definitely special. The kind to savour rather than stuff.
