What are you getting your husband?

My husband made a comment that he gets the same stuff every year and I should try to think a bit more about what he'd like and he's right. He's very creative and always puts a lot of thought into his presents. I tend to get him new clothes, shoes etc nothing too exciting. We have a 3 year old and a 1 year old so it's always been quite rushed but wanting to make the effort, so maybe if I saw what you're getting your husband I could get some inspiration?

Ticket to a show i think he'll like. And ticket for me do its a date night. We dont really spend much when we go out so a bit of a splurge.

Plus new socks and pants Grin

pinkchampagne1 · 02/12/2022 20:37

I have got my husband a Ralph Lauren jumper, some new waterproof mountain bike trousers, a pair of Timberland boots, a gilet and some aftershave

UnicornsDoExist · 02/12/2022 20:39

Usually some kind of tech. He mentioned he’d like a dvd player actually so i might get one of those but also thought maybe a really nice speaker system for the tv. It’s kind of a thing we’ll all use but he just loves that kind of stuff so i think he’d be happy. Got him AirPods one year. A really nice office chair another year.

Kenworthington · 02/12/2022 20:41

Oh god my gifts this year are so boring. But he has some books, a cd and a cashmere jumper. No inspiration from me I’m afraid. However in the past I have bought him stuff such as-

some fancy binoculars
a set of knives in a nice wooden box
a spoon carving kit
a fancy watch
random stuff like a wool hat with a torch built in (that’s was meant to be a joke but he actually loved it)
camera
some walking poles
hiking boots
a scratch off map
a Necklace with discs on with each disc engraved with name of country he’d visited. He hasn’t taken that off in about 4 years
a key ring engraved with the kids names
a canvas holdall weekend bag with his initials on
clothes- dressing gowns, Barbour puffer jacket, blundstone boots, mahabi slippers

im disappointed in my gifts to him this year as they’re a bit boring. I don’t think he’ll really be excited by any of it

RedLem0nade · 02/12/2022 20:42

An ergonomic sit/stand chair for his home office. Thrilling stuff.

Joyfuljolly · 02/12/2022 20:43

Whatever he asks for. Generally we spend about 200-300 each , for him it’s often boots, a fleece etc.

from our child I got him this which someone posted on another thread

Snoopystick · 02/12/2022 20:43

We’ve decided to just buy each other a few small bits this year and then have a treat weekend together after the new year. If you can get a babysitter lined up you could do similar?

Beanbagtrap · 02/12/2022 20:45

Dvd, cd? I had to check the date on this thread!

I get mine Lego

gemloving · 02/12/2022 20:49

@Beanbagtrap you made me laugh!

TeeBee · 02/12/2022 20:50

I'm buying mine a Samsonite laptop backpack.

CaronPoivre · 02/12/2022 20:51

He’ll have his stocking then;

A week in a cottage in the Lakes
Annual subscription to Country Life
Penhaligons cologne
A new suit carrier as his has died.

PinkHeadphones · 02/12/2022 20:54

DVD of the last series of Better call Saul (yes, dvd. We don’t have Netflix)
Some vinyl records
He has just mentioned he would like an iPad which is the first I’ve heard of it. He also wanted a posh groan of some kind. I won’t get both though.
Often I get him gig tickets.

IronicElf · 02/12/2022 20:54

A token gift to open (he'll be away at work anyway). We don't buy gifts for each other, but buy something nice for the house/garden for Christmas birthdays we can 'nominate' something we want in the year as the birthday gift. I got a £160 quarterly membership to The Gin Club and a naice scarf. DH got a £4k electric bike...

PinkHeadphones · 02/12/2022 20:54

Posh groan Grin
Sounds incredibly dodgy
i meant posh frying pan

Kenworthington · 02/12/2022 20:55

Haha @Beanbagtrap she has a very fancy modern cd player and an impressive cd collection . Vinyls trendy, it’ll be cds next, then tapes

Kenworthington · 02/12/2022 20:55

*he

Megs83 · 02/12/2022 20:56

I have bought 18+ Lego - win for both of us as it gives me some peace to read my book or do a jigsaw

RewildingAmbridge · 02/12/2022 20:58

Tickets to a stand up he loves, a pair of trainers (more expensive than he'd buy himself but I know he'll like them, they're a bit different), some fancy paint brushes (art not decorating) and some specific paints he's been eyeing up for a while, a first edition bound graphic novel signed by the artist, and some usual bits, socks, bubble bar, nice chocolate, cheese from local cheese monger, beard oil.
Previously he's had stuff for his hobby, a smart watch, always books/board games (not monopoly etc).
I've also booked a trip to Budapest for our anniversary and will tell him about that at dinner point over the festive period as we're going in January

Simonjt · 02/12/2022 21:00

A weekend away, so technically also a present for me. Lego and then some little bits like his favourite chocolate.

MissPiggysPinkDress · 02/12/2022 21:00

I’ve told him this year we aren’t doing presents. I can’t think of a single thing I need or want that I haven’t already bought myself. And he doesn’t want or need anything either! We are going on weekend away in January, so that’s our present. We are also saving to move, so I don’t want to spend on stuff we don’t need

Tintackedsea · 02/12/2022 21:02

Chocolate covered coffee beans
Book
Malt whisky
T-shirt

My sister is getting him a compass

My mum is getting him slippers

The kids are getting him a rubix cube

His birthday is a couple of weeks after Christmas and he's getting

A socket set
Books
Rum
Good socks
A monocular
A neoprene swimming top

Sausagedognamedmash · 02/12/2022 21:08

This year I've actually got ahead of myself and got things I know DH will love rather than whatever random thing I think up a few days before Xmas.

He has :
Gig tickets for a gig in January
Vinyl and t-shirt set
Leather wallet
Sherpa lined hoody
MTG game accessories

All of which he will love. He has been too easy to buy for this year so something is bound to go wrong.

Yes that’s our situation too. Neither of us needs more stuff.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 02/12/2022 21:14

My husband made a comment that he gets the same stuff every year and I should try to think a bit more about what he'd like

God, what an entitled comment!

I used to put a lot of thought into presents for my husband but I've come to realise that actually he does want the same thing every year 😆 He wants whiskey. He wants books. He wants something hobby-related (which often he has to basically order himself and say it's from me!)

So this year he's getting whiskey, a book, waterproof socks (for mountain biking) and a Spicery legend box (he loves cooking and I bought him one of these last year and he loved it so I bought another (different) one). Don't fix what ain't broke!

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/12/2022 21:16

Variously…

A cheese subscription
Plant subscription
Wine subscription
Nat Geo subscription

Fancy amp, speakers, Apple Watch, other bits of tech
Fancy watch
Fancy aftershave

Festival / gig / theatre tickets

Nice jumper - a notch or two up from what he’d get himself
Boots the same
Coat / Jacket the same

massage vouchers

sometimes an antique thing I really think he’ll like

Posh kitchen knives once
