I only have DH & DD to buy for plus DD’s 20th birthday on the 29th of November. And I know this sounds mad but I actually got presents for my hamster Lucy too.

I have heard of people buying for cousins, a dozen nursery or school staff, the postman/woman, binmen…sounds like a lot of work. No judgement on here please stay nice! 🤞

  1. Husband, 2 kids, sister, her husband and 2 kids, my mum and dad, 2 secret Santas (work and friends). Plus I buy dh from dc and dc's for each other. Usually box of chocs for postie and binmen as well.
greaterscott · 21/11/2022 13:09
  1. Just DH/dc/nieces/nephew/my dad/his mum.

I've got friends who buy an insane amount of presents - one friend buys 80+, for family, numerous friends and their whole households including adults. It doesn't occur to her that these families probably could do without buying for her and her kids so would rather she didn't bother!

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 21/11/2022 13:31

15 + 3 January birthdays

But I am including my DP's family who are hosting us and some gifts I organise for an older relative to give to their lovely helpful neighbours. Of these 18 have bought 1 but planned almost all of them.

It's the Christmas cards/letters, with a change of address, that I need to get on top of this week, I don't want them to get stuck in the strikes. I still have some to make, and most to write, although I have drafted the letter.

GettingStuffed · 21/11/2022 14:10

11 all in, but we also have 2 birthdays in December and the 3 in January

chocolateisavegetable · 21/11/2022 21:23

23 and a December birthday. We stop buying for nieces and nephews once they get to 18, so it will eventually go down!

Fairislefandango · 21/11/2022 21:31
  1. Dh and 2 dc, my parents, dsis, dbil and their 2 dc. Dh buys presents for his side of the family. Obviously our presents for our dc are from both of us, but I'm usually in charge of getting those.

Now my stepsons have kids I just buy them a token gift and buy the toddler/baby toys and clothes.
My mil I buy a Christmas floral arrangement. She's 96 and loves her garden but can't get out there anymore.

Always4Brenner · 22/11/2022 20:28

My side of the family 4 people

DH’s side of the family 3 people (we do secret Santa as it’s a massive family, but I do buy something outside of the secret Santa for young child nephew and I always get MIL something extra as she helps a lot with childcare)

AdoraBell · 22/11/2022 20:37

Mydogatemypurse · 22/11/2022 22:52

In laws from exh. My kids.
Best friend. Uni friend. Partner, his sister and Partner, his mum. Millions of selection boxes for my friends kids.

I get the kids something shit to give their dad. Not actually shit but under £10 each. I only do it for them. Normally a book, smellies and chocolate
