@mummyof2boys30 we love dobble www.dobblegame.com/en/games/ great for all ages and lots of different ‘themed’ versions. In other news I started wrapping last night 😛

sorryiasked · 13/11/2022 08:24

@mummyof2boys30 Dobble is great. Or Uno Flip it you haven't got that.

MEGA BLOKS Big Building Bag building set with 60 big and colorful building blocks, and 1 storage bag, toy gift set for ages 1 and up amzn.eu/d/gJQwazj

Hopefully a bargain for someone!

BlueLu · 13/11/2022 08:34

Exploding kittens is a firm favorite in our house. The expansions get a bit complicated but the original game is fab. Little bits of writing but each type of card has its own colour too. My DS picked it up very quickly at about 8. Don't know for any deals though sorry.

Can anyone recommend a good board or card game for DS 10. He likes uno and snakes and ladders and connect 4. Has dyslexia so nothing too difficult

Monopoly junior board game is a hit here.
As it uno, dobble, monopoly deal (card game but I think it's a bit complicated).
What about a box with lots of games in - draughts/chess/ludo etc?

Myleakycauldron · 13/11/2022 08:38

What age is polly pocket for? I have nieces to buy for 5 - 9 but the older they get the harder I find to know what is age appropriate!

Just be careful with that MegaBloks deal. I thought it was a bargain and had it in my cart. Then I saw the same bag for £6.66 on the Sainsbury’s toy sale.
I also think they have massively inflated the original price.

VeruccaSalty · 13/11/2022 08:42

We like Taco Cat Goat Cheese pizza card game, but it is a bit slappy...

Blokus is fun too and very simple to learn. I bought our set in last year's bargain frenzy...

SweetPeaPods · 13/11/2022 08:43

Any fat face codes? They have a few bits in the sale but the blue light discount code is only on full price.

Any good sites to buy vinyl cheaply?

Depends what your after.
HMV had a 3 for £55 offer I saw yesterday.
I have found Amazon and WHSmiths have better price that HMV before.
But if you can find a record store they are nearly always cheaper.
But honestly it depends what you want. My DH wants Del La Soul and it's not being printed at the moment and I've seen it at £200+ for the one he wants. So that's not happening!

ginforall · 13/11/2022 08:46

Thank you for these threads, just started reading a couple of threads ago and have got a smashed grapes box on its way mid Dec and managed to get the Hedwig Lego for a bargain price 🙂

Tie dye kit on Amazon is on offer today, gets very good reviews, bought it for the 9 year old and planing to buy a plain white t shirt, socks and a pillow case to use with it which will wrap up to a nice sized gift.

I've bought the back pack poly pocket that was mentioned a few threads back for my niece who is 5

Thank you! We've vaguely looked at it before and of course he added it to his list this year and its no where to be found...or £80....
I begrudge paying full price for lego at the best of times let.alone extra! 🤣

I've been known to pay more for a retired set my autistic son particularly wants! 🙈

I'm hoping that Lego does the VIP points worth double thingy this Black Friday. They did it around this time last year, but I had bugger all points then. I've over 6,000 now!

Have you tried Discogs? My DH and DS are big vinyl folk. It's quite different. It's an online community of sellers who will find you stuff. You need to register and your piece usually comes from Europe, but they are amazing. Mostly 2nd hand but brilliant quality.

Also Juno.co.uk can be great for vinyl.

Clucket87 · 13/11/2022 09:00

@Puffalicious no I haven't. Off I go to see if I can find it at some reasonable price. Thank you.

gawditswindy · 13/11/2022 09:01

Anyone have hamper recommendations? Light on the booze, nothing too obscure or 'fancy', not too pricey? These Highland Hampers from a couple of years ago* would be great! A gift for a good friend who is really hard to buy for!

*except not a big massive weird scam.

Puffalicious · 13/11/2022 09:02

For the games I second all versions of Dobble and Uno. Blockus is brilliant as is Querkle (heard about both on here over the years) and Flags of the World is great, I've bought it for so many birthday gifts over the years after my boys' friends came and loved it. Good, old-fashioned Frustration and Cluedo popular here too.

DH has piped in with Vinyl Tap it's a huge warehouse in Huddersfield but online too. Apparently DS1 got something the other week which he found hard to locate- they're also reasonable.

Aldi Sleepover kits reduced by 40%
Wish I had the room as my girls would love these!

OliverBabish · 13/11/2022 09:06

Has anyone purchased one of the M&S Christmas hampers before? I am considering the pantry one for MIL but unsure if it’s worth it at £80
