Looks like we need another thread so here goes. I'll stick the usual top of thread messages in a follow on post.

Any great gift ideas for a 6 year old autistic boy from other SEN parents? Especially anything that you've found makes life easier for your autistic children! We already have blackout tent, body sock, various sensory toys. He can't manage anything with little pieces, or games he can lose at! Sensory things are great but messy so any ideas for engaging, emotionally regulating, non-messy gifts would be appreciated!

Our ds likes stacking things and activities with an ‘end’ so things like jigsaws, marble run etc. Stacking cups and large playing cards which he could match or stack. Rockin’ Robot toy, (currently on offer at elc), dominos which he use to match numbers and create long lines.
How about a weighted blanket, Ikea spinning chair or one of the heated eye masks that lots of posters have mentioned?
We also had success with a trolley dolly cart which he happily wheeled himself about on.

Thank you @boobybum , some great suggestions!

have just seen small hessian bags of ‘coal’ in home bargains (they’re bath bombs) for £3.99. I think it was a thread (or 3 back) when people were talking about bags of coal. The bags looked sweet but I have no idea what the bath bombs were like as on top shelf and didn’t get chance to have a proper look.

Hurrah, got one this time! Thank you. Not heard of Vipon before. Is it all Amazon vouchers? The rest of the stuff on the home page is coming up in dollars, maybe I need to change a setting somewhere

Dobble- you can easily 'let' him find the matches before you. My DS10 with asd and adhd loves it- we have original, Minion and Harry Potter. And an Oodie- cosy and keeps him feeling 'safe' as he can bundle inside it. Squashmallows (or the Aldi/ Morrsison's ones) are popular here. At 6 my DS still loved Thomas the Tank Engine, so we got the metal trains and train set for older kids and he collected Thomas minis so lots of those and the matching electronic set that they whizzed around. He also loved electronic cars - light up being best.

Other than that it's only things for when he's older- a Switch lite; Querkle boardgame; Flags of the World board game, Exploding Minions game. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I know how hard it is.

My son loved things that spun so had something like www.argos.co.uk/product/9455797?clickSR=slp:term:gears:2:47:1this He's an adult now but it's still in the cupboard alongside the Marble Runs and his other treasured toys he keeps "for memories"

BloodyMabel · 10/11/2022 15:44

Are there any Boohoo/Debenhams codes about for sale items?

Trying so hard to distract myself and not order the corgi hoodie/Oodie!

PeeJayDay · 10/11/2022 15:45

Got the panda this time. Thanks! A panda oodie to go with it would be the business 🤣

Ooh he would love that, thanks!

namechange0998776554432 · 10/11/2022 15:58

Thank you @Puffalicious , very helpful! It is hard because it's somehow so much more difficult when you buy the 'wrong' thing and he never just gives a list of things he wants like my older girl does. Great to get suggestions from people so I can make a big list myself and whittle it down to what's likely to be the most successful! Hopefully this will give a few others some inspiration too.

Diddydog · 10/11/2022 16:15

As anyone found any discounts on CRAFTY PONIES?

if you subscribe to Schleich you get 15%

Ziggerty · 10/11/2022 16:22

@Diddydog I was also looking for discounts on crafty ponies. I found a bit on discount equestrian but the pony was the wrong colour as I'm after the palomino.

There is also a 'learning resources' version of this. They do ones with lights etc

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 10/11/2022 16:25

Are we missing @Reastie? I hope everything is OK.

Lellyo · 10/11/2022 16:27

Just picked up a Disney book advent calendar in H & B (similar to the gruffalo one) for £ 7.99

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 10/11/2022 16:29

@namechange0998776554432 Don't know your budget but bought ours a gorilla gym at that age and it's still used daily now at almost 12. He uses the swing to regulate and the rings to flip himself over and over 🙃

psuedocream3 · 10/11/2022 16:34

Meant to say those who bought Harumika, Next do free fabric samples which are the perfect size.

Someaddedsugar · 10/11/2022 16:37

@namechange0998776554432 check out Aldi for Goo Jit Zus - we bought a few at the weekend for a few pounds less than Smyths etc.

Yes just Amazon vouchers, change the flag at the top of the homepage to uk to see £.
They have a lot of junk but you can get the odd deal.
