Big Amazon order will arrive over the next few days (except for a game on pre-order) and I know it's not even November yet, but it's always such a relief to get the kids done.

Now I can focus on the food, drink, and other gifts (not that I really buy for anyone else).

Happy as well as I came in under budget by around £90 😁 across the 3 of them.

They'll get money from the inlaws and my parents which they'll spend on lego undoubtedly come January.

Anyone else finished? Hows the budget looking?

Im most of the way there for my kids. Luckily they’re still young enough that I can totally influence what they think they want! Have been watching eBay and marketplace for a while, which makes my spend less than a third of what it would be buying new.

Present for parents has fallen through, a pain as I thought I had a fab bargain for £50 and now can’t find anything as good!

Kenworthington · 30/10/2022 18:58

I’ve done all mine too

ds(24 )- a big lot of lovely fabrics (he sews), some socks, some of those aftershaves that smell of weird things like libraries and coffee shops and English heritage membership to share with his dp,
ds’s dp- goalie trousers and jacket

ds (19) - some dj thing he wanted for his computer and some bonkers crocs he saw with pigeons on and usual stocking bits

dd(17) a zadig and Voltaire bag she wanted, a couple of cute necklaces- one with her name on and one with her and her boyfriend last initials and a velvetiser with various hot choccies

dds boyfriend- a dickies t shirt and some Star Wars socks

dss(28) a big fleecy skatery over shirt

bit stuck for ds2 girlfriend- they’ve only been together a couple months and I want to get her a little something but she is so different to my dd and also ds that I’m stuck. She’s very alternative, kind of emo/goth. Perhaps I’ll know it when I see it

dh- only got him two random history books so far so that’s also problematic. He has asked me for cds he can’t find. He can’t find them because they don’t seem to bloody exist and I can’t find them either!

Bogglebrain · 30/10/2022 19:04

I’m finished too! Just got to stop now - the bargain Christmas thread is too tempting though.

Ship · 30/10/2022 19:05

What has everybody bought their DHs? I’m stumped for mine.

Lilbunnyfufu · 30/10/2022 19:05

I've finished shopping for the boys a few weeks back I did a big Amazon order and ordered some bits from argos and the range. Still need to sort dd's gifts she wants a new pc so will get my husband to sort that out I've put some money aside for it so it's just a case of him finding one to meet her needs.
I've also got 2 stockings sort out for the guests we having this year.
I plan in having everything by 10th November before the new baby arrives.

Cuwins · 30/10/2022 19:05

DD (10m at Xmas) is mostly done. Need to get an orange to add to her stocking at the last minute and considering adding a CD/teether or another book to it. Main presents I have 1 more thing probably to get possibilities include wooden rainbow, sleeping bag or lunch box.
My partner is half done- craft gin box and pjs. But he also has a birthday in Jan! 🤦‍♀️ thinking of adding a Bluetooth shower speaker.
My parents are half done- fingerless gloves for mum and a 'grandads goodies' sweet tin for dad. Dad is easy to finish as we need to fill the tin!
My sister is done- bath bombs, pjs and Jaffa cakes.
Have my gran (96 on Nov) and 2 adults with special needs to buy for- all 3 are tricky.

You're clearly not upset that you're going over budget. Seems like you just want to gloat actually. It's really rather gauche

Don't be silly
The OPs list included things like driving lessons and mobiles which some people wouldn't count as gifts - everyone has different interpretations but nothing was OTT on her list.

EricNorthmanYesPlease · 30/10/2022 19:08

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 30/10/2022 18:33

They all have lego sets, DD13 has art supplies. So new pens, canvases, she also asked for a book box set.

Son has lego and Switch games. I also got him one of those snuggle cushions (like fuzzy back rests) and he's always sat in his bed watching tv but loves snuggly stuff.

Youngest is mad on foxes so other than lego its fox stuffed toys and a switch game.

Like I say, none of them are after expensive trainers or phones thank goodness

Thanks!

Bobbins2022 · 30/10/2022 19:17

I'm about 80% done for the kids (3 and 8 months)

Can I have a little gloat? Just a little one. RRP for their main gifts is about £130 but I managed to get them for £33 total. I love Facebook marketplace!

TheRookie · 30/10/2022 19:21

I've got the big stuff for my 2, trying soooo hard to stick to budget this year 😂 I've got their stockings to do and the other bits and bobs which I just enjoy picking up as I see. I haven't even started on anyone else though.

Umbrellabee · 30/10/2022 19:23

I’ve done nothing for Christmas yet other than a bath bomb each to go in their stockings! My twins have their birthday at the end of November and I’ve got their presents for that though so I’m pleased that is sorted!

Upsadiddles · 30/10/2022 19:32

I’m pretty much done for the DC, just need chocolate for the stockings and the advent calendars, and new knickers, socks and pjs. I budget £200 each but around £50 of that is usually clothes, pjs, slippers etc that I’d be buying anyway. It’s definitely a limit and not a target, but this year I could have gone on buying forever for DD1. I had so many ideas and she plays for hours so it doesn’t seem wasteful. I’ve got about £10 left of her budget to cover the above and got quite a bit within budget by regularly checking prices.

It’s DD2’s first Christmas and I wasn’t going to buy her much at all, however DD1 has been circling things for her in the catalogue too and is excited to see what she gets. I’ve ended up close to the budget as I’ve bought her a lovely wooden play kitchen, and I’ve also got her some bath toys. The rest of the budget has gone on her wooden advent calendar and a stocking to match DD1’s. Stocking contains practical things like socks, proper toddler cutlery, a cup etc. I’ve kept a little bit aside to take DD1 shopping to choose her something from her.

I don’t have many others to buy for. Siblings I’ve sorted this week. Parents and ILs we don’t do gifts but have some sort of get together instead. DH and I have decided just to do a stocking for each other and go for a meal or something. I’ve bought for one DN and waiting on a wish list from another. Then need chocolates for nursery and school.

I’m feeling very organised and hope to be finished in the next few weeks. Wrapping has to wait until the tree is up and I have a day off with baileys, lebkuchen and a cheesy Christmas film though.

@Kenworthington Amazon has the Lemonheads one.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 30/10/2022 19:37

I'm still looking for inspiration. I don't buy much though. We have 5 adult children all married/engaged so together the 12 of us do a Secret Santa for £ 20 each. So each couple spends £ 40 altogether. I spoil the "kids" on birthdays and through the year so there isn't a huge it at Christmas time. I buy for our mums, one uncle, a couple of friends and the bonus grandchildren. That's about it. My daughter will send me an Amazon wish list for the grandchildren so I just choose from that.

It sounds so easy and simple but a couple of weeks ago I had a right wobble and spend a couple of days snivelling to myself because I wished I could spoil them all like I did when they were younger!

monicagellerbing · 30/10/2022 19:44

You've spent £90 for 3 kids? Or £90 each?

orangetriangle · 30/10/2022 19:48

sunshineandrain82 · 30/10/2022 19:49

We are bulk of the way done. But we have 4 children aged between 2-14 who all have birthdays within 6 weeks of Christmas. So we are shopping for both currently.

We don't tend to budget though. We found SEN equipment, toys etc are very expensive. And having 4 with varying different needs. We just purchase what they would benefit from currently, especially as our 2 youngest have very different complex needs.

I did get a few crazy good deals on brand new Lego city Lego on vinted so managed to get our 5 year old son the entire police collection at virtually no cost. And actually it was technically free because my vinted sales paid for it.

ChocolateCrepe · 30/10/2022 19:56

We have 4 DC between 4 & 13, and one has a birthday coming up
I’m done for the 4 year old, just her Santa present to her once she’s done her lost (she keeps saying she’s asking for an Elsa dress but I’m holding off just in case she changes her mind last minute) I have a couple of bits for the 11 year old, nothing for the 13 year old yet as I have no idea 1 thug for the 6 year old as most of what I’ve bought will be for his birthday
I have something for my Dad, no idea for Mum and have 1 niece & 1 nephew to buy for, I have selection boxes but need a little gift each
I’m usually much further along than this <internally panics>
