Big Amazon order will arrive over the next few days (except for a game on pre-order) and I know it's not even November yet, but it's always such a relief to get the kids done.

Now I can focus on the food, drink, and other gifts (not that I really buy for anyone else).

Happy as well as I came in under budget by around £90 😁 across the 3 of them.

They'll get money from the inlaws and my parents which they'll spend on lego undoubtedly come January.

Anyone else finished? Hows the budget looking?

I'm almost done with everyone! My kids, DP, Nieces and Nephews.

I have been super careful this year and got lots of bits in the sales or sold old toys to buy new bits (made about £125 from selling old stuff). Weirdly, I think it'll look like they have more gifts than ever but that's just because of the things I've bought. I had a declutter in the summer and found some unopened stocking fillers from last year so they'll be getting them again this year! 😁

I've just got a few last things to buy and I'm waiting for black Friday for those.

I normally spend about £1000 all in at Xmas including food and pressies. This year, I think it'll be down to £750 all in just by buying in the sales, buying second hand (but new looking) and buying treats early when they are reduced in price (and hiding away so not tempted to eat!) Got the sweets, choccy coins, choccy Santa's and advent calendars already. Next on the list is Xmas cake and a few bubbly bits.

Booked and paid for Santa in May and also did the same for panto in June. Booked a christmassy local theatre production for just after Xmas too so that will be given as a gift as well as the panto being a gift.

So the kids will have two theatre trips, a main pressie each, 5-6 items of clothing and then a couple of toys, sweets plus small stocking filler bits.

The cost will have been spread over the year and other half will chip in £100 for food. So about £50/month all year for Xmas for the immediate family and 6 nephews and nieces.

PlinkyPlonk1 · 30/10/2022 21:25

My youngest wanted Playmobil that is £75-99 new and I got it on Marketplace for £25!!! With box! Looks brand new and he won't know the difference. Well chuffed!

OneFrenchEgg · 30/10/2022 21:41

4 teens, budget is £150 each incl stocking and they always enjoy it. I decided to rein it in and it's fine. But we also do lots of board games, long lunch, films and avoid focussing on 'getting stuff'. Done everyone else and it's all wrapped thank god. Just the fun crackers and sweets etc to get.

Mine is 10m so she doesn't what she gets!

Worki · 30/10/2022 22:03

Nearly done. It will be about £100-130 per child, including stockings and gifts 'from'siblings (they love to pick and wrap something but not old enough to fund it themselves! Managed to encourage them all towards art supplies which do need replenishing). Cut the amount down from last year which I'm happy about.

Worki · 30/10/2022 22:13

Just totalling up my lists.. my first guess was off the top of my head.. should be done in a about a fortnight.
The babies total will be around £45.
3 year olds around £80.
6 & 8 year olds both around £90-100

Not too bad for the 'all in' amount spent.

They do their draft lists in October half term, which gives me a steer. They're not overly fickle either (DS is autistic and wants certain stuff anyway).

TheHappiestChristmasTree · 30/10/2022 22:43

People getting all judgey over some people's budgets- who made you king of how much people should spend?! If people want to spend £750 per kid that doesn't affect me in the slightest- crack on!

I have one DD, have probably spent about £300 on her and feel I've gone a bit over the top so may keep some stuff back for her birthday! But I can see how expensive it must be for older kids, with phones, consoles etc. my DD is only 3 so none of her presents are too expensive. Managed to get her main present off FB Marketplace- the paw patrol tower. She's gonna love it.

Also got lots of duplo, a playmobil set, some wooden food toys, then just books and little bits.

slowquickstep · 30/10/2022 22:44

All presents are bought and wrapped, all cards are written and stamped. Butcher and Greengrocer orders are in, supermarket delivery is booked. Christmas cake is mixed, mince pies and other baking is in the freezer and the blackberry vodka is doing it's magic in the bottles. Budget is £500 and i am under but only because i have 2 bottles of fizz that i won earlier in the year and a bottle of wine left over from last Christmas.

TheHappiestChristmasTree · 30/10/2022 22:45

Bobbins2022 · 30/10/2022 19:17

I'm about 80% done for the kids (3 and 8 months)

Can I have a little gloat? Just a little one. RRP for their main gifts is about £130 but I managed to get them for £33 total. I love Facebook marketplace!

Well done, that's amazing!

Why on earth would you do that to a child ? Poor bairn.

TheChosenTwo · 30/10/2022 22:56

I’ve bought one thing, for a friend!
I do mine over one weekend in December, 2 of my kids have birthdays in November so can’t get my head round Christmas before then really.
plus they make lists to send to Father Christmas up the chimney - they do that in December, they’re older now (18,17 and 11!) but they’re too old to predict what they might want and be able to sway their decision making.
If you buy early for say 6 or 7 years olds it would be too much of a risk for me to buy their presents based on what I think they’d like 3 months before Christmas.
i buy for between 40-50 people (both have large families and no one wants to stop doing presents, it’s a lot of kids to be fair and then both dh and I have 2 sets of parents thanks to second marriages so extra sets of siblings and nieces and nephews), I get it done in one big hit!

healthadvice123 · 30/10/2022 22:59

Have started but asked ds x 2 19&17 what they want and one wants new xbox and the other a gaming monitor £250 each , so over our budget
Tbf they did ask for money towards
But i have some family members that normally give them some money so thinking if asking if they can send to me and i use to buy what they want so they actually have something to open on xmas day and not just cash

TheYearOfSmallThings · 30/10/2022 23:01

I'm not even going to think about any of it until 25 November.
