DD (8) has got really into history, specifically the Tudor period but also general UK history.
Any suggestions for gifts would be appreciated as her 9th birthday is 8 days before Christmas so I need to buy for both and am really at a loss.
We’ve got all the Horrible Histories books, games, colouring in, seen the shows and got the T-shirt! Is there anything else history based for that age?

My DD has loved all things Tudor for years. A couple of her favourite items are her Tudor rose necklace, and a stained glass picture of one of the Queens, which you can attach to the window as a decoration.

@FragileWitch This book is an absolute classic, she may enjoy it. I've linked to a preowned copy but you can pick it up in most bookshops.

@FragileWitch Have you tried Etsy ?
They sell some Tudor themed things suitable for children.

So excited to order my degustabox advent calendar today with the £5 code ADVENT_2022 , that I forgot to go through topcashback, I know they don’t always track if you use a code , but it’s another £3.40 on there too if it does !

JL have ribbed tights in certain colours reduced to clear. They wash really well and make good stocking fillers for girls instead of socks.

Spotted these Aqua Magic drawing mats in Sainsbury’s today, might be a good sticking filler for little ones.

I had one 2020 - it was absolutely massive! Some nice treat bits, I'd say worth it for £35 tbh

Neednewfloor · 16/09/2022 17:43

@FragileWitch how about tickets for six the musical believe it's perfect for that age . All about Henry Tudors six wives.

Was just coming on to say that. I saw it last weekend, it is more like a Tudor girl band pop concert but quite educational, empowering and fun. There were lots of girls that age in the audience who seemed to love it.

discount dragon have skillet baking sets for £1.99 and lots of other nice looking things.
Disclaimer - I've not used them before but excellent reviews

Yalz · 16/09/2022 18:13

Just had an email from Turtle Doves to say that their “premium” offering of (fingerless) gloves will go up from £29 per pair to £35 next Tuesday.

It makes the ones we bought from eBay seem even more of a bargain, if we received ones which fitted and didn’t need much mending.

I don’t think they stayed in stock long on eBay today.

imnottoofussed · 16/09/2022 18:20

Discount dragon seems to have crashed just after I added some skillets to my basket, hopefully still in stock when it comes back on 🤞🏻

imnottoofussed · 16/09/2022 18:22

My turtle doves arrived. One pair does have a hole on the inside but not at all noticeable and the other doesn't seem to have any faults. Both fit and I don't think I have slim hands.

sorryiasked · 16/09/2022 18:32

Sorry probably should have pointed out that discount dragon is mostly past best before date, so still fine to eat but possibly not for gifting

CottonHeadedNinnyMug · 16/09/2022 18:32

I was also going to suggest SIX, the soundtrack of not tickets, a friend told me his daughters are obsessed and calling each other 'queen's constantly!

We had one last year and we're still using bits from it now! As with everything, there's a few doors that are "wtf is this?" but generally it's a good calendar for the price. I wouldn't buy it again, as it will be too samey...there's only so many small size non perishable food items they can rotate, but was impressed enough to recommend to DM for DF this year. Oh and it's massive, so looks quite the biz as well.
