It's early September and we're already on thread 3 - wonder how many threads we'll get to this year! Any bets? Mine is 29!

If you have a referral link for a website, do post it on this thread

See post 2 for some (hopefully) useful links.

@TamSamLam could you please tell me more about the rubber duck calendar? My DD will be 2 and she's obsessed with "quackers" so it would be perfect for her!

I seen this rubber duck calendar advertised today.

Can anyone recommend a label maker for DD10 please? Obviously the more bargainous the better, but I don't want it to fall apart after a few weeks!

Speaking of marble runs, does anyone have any experience of gravitrax? It's on offer on Amazon at the moment and looks like the kind of thing my 5 year old would like but still fairly pricey!

We got gravitrax for our five year old and he loves it - took him a little while to get his head round but after a few times building with a parent helping he got it and now he can build the courses himself, it keeps him busy for ages! We just got the starter set and haven't yet bothered to get any expansions.

@Raindancer411 I couldn't see an option not to send it back. How do I do that?

It just said to us on the return not to but then it was just one, so maybe that's why?

Worth a look to see if it's available in a store near you!

Blessedbethefruitz · 15/09/2022 19:39

Can we talk Tonie boxes? I've never even tried an audio book for my 3.5 year old, should I do that first? I thought I was all sorted plan wise with tablets, but then I saw an octonauts tonie... 18 months on and he still loves them

tabbycat985 · 15/09/2022 20:04

@Blessedbethefruitz I'm the biggest advocate for Tonie boxes!!
The creatives are the main reason we bought a Toniebox as our families are spread all over, they just need to send us audio of them telling a story or singing & we can upload it to a creative & it's just so personal & lovely! My children really like being able to choose their own figure & not have to ask for help.
There are referral codes over on the referral thread (mine included😂) or you can pick them up so cheap second hand & then they normally come with a bunch of figures. I would say use Facebook or Vinted if you're buying second hand as they tend to be much more expensive on eBay!

Yeknom · 15/09/2022 20:20

@Blessedbethefruitz I'd also say it's worth doing your research on the Yoto box. I think it has a bit more longevity that the tonie...

I saw that but none near me sadly. Thanks for asking

zeerecords · 15/09/2022 20:50

I was going to ask for recommendations of tonie vs yoto box for a Christmas present for my 18 month old!

WhyDoesItAlways · 15/09/2022 21:01

We have a yoto for DS5, it is his most used present from his birthday last year. I believe the cards are cheaper than the Tonie characters and you can buy blank cards to make your own. I recently bought a series of Roald Dahl audibooks on CD second hand and put them on yoto cards. You can do the same with audible content too. There is lots of free content on the app e.g child friendly podcasts. I think you can download the app and view the context without needing a player. There is also a monthly club subscription which costs £9.99 (I think) that you can sign up to which gives you the choice of 2 cards a month.

SweetPeaPods · 15/09/2022 21:09

Is 8 too old for a yoto player?

mummyof2boys30 · 15/09/2022 21:12

Any discount codes for lakeland

Yeknom · 15/09/2022 21:15

@SweetPeaPods not at all, I think the yoto is geared more towards the older market with some of the cards, plus the option to make your own. There are often a lot of 10year olds getting birthday shoutouts on the daily podcast!

tabbycat985 · 15/09/2022 21:17

Yes @Yeknom has a good point, Yoto cards are less expensive too.
We ended up selling our Yoto to buy another Tonie as my son (4) was very jealous of the little figures his sister was getting.

Cantthinkofadifferentname · 15/09/2022 21:32

@Reastie just a heads up over 900 posts, so not long to the next thread ... please

Famousthehero · 15/09/2022 21:33

Anyone who missed the burts bees crackers the Vanilla bean one is now back at £4.32
maybe worth watching the other one as it may go back down too and was £3 something

woodwaj · 15/09/2022 21:35

My son has a tonie he's had it since he was about 3 and is now 7 (nearly 8!) he listens to it almost every night without fail. Mr Men is his current favourite.

What price was original offer? Is this still a good price?

RegeJeanPageMeOnMyCellphone · 15/09/2022 21:37

Duplo Santa’s gingerbread house available for £24.99 on Jadlam with free delivery plus 5% off if you sign up to the newsletter. Brings it down to £23.70, it’s £25-30 and selling out in the cheaper stockists.

Also any teen/adult gamers and Lego fans Horizon forbidden west tallneck is on BargainMax for £69.99 free delivery but if you sign up for the newsletter you get 10% off so it’s £62.99.

dizzygirl1 · 15/09/2022 21:49

Thank you for whoever said about the £7 off a £20 spend with click and collect on Amazon. I've been watching a set of lego for DS13, it's not moved in price since he sent me the link.... so I've bit the bullet using this code! Thank you
