All my 5 year old has asked for so far is a Levi’s T-shirt. She doesn’t ask for much to be fair. I’ll probably get her some Lego sets we can do together, a board game, some books, some sweets I’m not really sure what else. There’s nothing big she wants.

Cuwins · 22/08/2022 12:31

DD 10m at Xmas is getting:
A push along trolley I picked up free on Facebook, blocks, a push along tigger toy, galt pop up people, clothes, vtech microphone and a bath toy tidy. Have another £20 in the budget so might add some sensory balls and a small teddy.
Stocking she has: stacking cups, toy animals, bath book, a cup, paint brushes, a board book, a toy car, some bath toys, a puppet, a slinky, a vtech ball thing I was given for free and cutlery. I have £4 left in the budget and will add some chocolate.

DinosaurOfFire · 22/08/2022 13:02

My girls (10 and 7) have asked for:

  • Rainbow High Dolls
  • Pokemon build a bears
  • Schleich figures
  • a kids kindle
  • PC games controller

My son (5) has asked for

  • All of the dinosaurs mummy all of them
  • Giant dinosaurs
  • Cuddly dinosaurs (a strong theme here!)
  • A rainbow dinosaur top
  • A rainbow (rgb) computer mouse for the PC he uses the most

I'm also going to add some art stuff, pjs and some stationery, plus they always get a new outfit too.

Imissprosecco · 22/08/2022 13:50

My children will be 3 and 10 months at christmas so not at the asking for things stage yet. I asked DS what he wanted for his birthday and he said "a happy birthday".

These are my ideas for DS3:

Playmobil 123 Zoo - I got this for £13 months ago. Bargain!
Scooter
Toy shop
Books - trying to move away from board books to proper stories
Orchard games
Kinetic sand_playdoh
Bath toy
Glow in the dark stars for his room
Dressing up outfit
Character blanket
Highchair for his doll
Battery operated train for his train set
Door sign for his room

Stocking will hold 6 or 7 tiny things like sweets and bubbles. Maybe a little car.

(He won't get all this I'm just tossing around ideas and will probably suggest a couple to other family members)

DD10 months
Vtech walker
Backpack and reins (a unicorn one)
Personalised Rainbow stacking toy for her room
Books
Door sign for her room
Fingerpaints
Bath toy
Clothes
Cutlery set

It may be the case that I put some things in the baby's sack that in reality will get used by the 3 year old (eg craft stuff), just so it looks like she has the same amount from Santa!

Rattlethestars · 22/08/2022 13:55

DS is 5 and will be having vouchers for an activity, probably soft play (he's autistic and isn't bothered about Christmas or toys so will benefit from something such as softplay which he enjoys). We're also get him a puzzle, books and his favourite snacks.

DD (3) will have Lego, toy toaster and kettle, some type of dress up, arts and crafts, a game (all things I know she will love and play with)

Phos · 22/08/2022 14:23

@DinosaurOfFire

Schleich! That’s a great shout, my daughter will just play with little figures like that for hours. There are a lot of them currently moving into their new house at the moment (boxes from her new school shoes and trainers)

MuffinFeatures · 22/08/2022 14:54

My son (12) has only asked for AirPods, so he’ll get couple of really little things to open alongside that - smellies and chocolate probably.

My daughters (9 and 5) have asked for LOL dolls so I have got a couple of big bundles from Vinted for a quarter of the price of new ones. I’ve got my youngest a backpack and notepad in the Accessorize sale, and I got her a JL sale onesie too. My older daughter already has some smiggle things from the sale stashed away and we’ll get her a game for her Switch too.

They also get a stocking each with the usual chocolates, socks, bath bomb, little Lego figure etc. Not to mention they get presents from grandparents, aunts and uncles too so they are very lucky!

DinosaurOfFire · 22/08/2022 17:29

@Phos My kids are huge Schleich fans- well, fans of the horses, magical creatures and dinosaurs! They really enjoy the playsets too. I like to wait till Smyths have 3 for 2 or similar on things, or reductions on the playsets they are hoping for, before buying them. They have been collecting them now for about 3 years so it makes birthdays and Christmas really easy!

womaninatightspot · 22/08/2022 17:37

Ds 12 games for vr headset
ds2 9Pokémon, games for pc
dtd 7 new bikes

Everyone gets new sheepskin slippers, onesies, books, smelly stuff and books.

Quornflakegirl · 22/08/2022 17:40

My girls (both 10)have asked for
iPad
Harry Potter Lego

I’ll get a few small extra bits as well.

Squashedraddish · 22/08/2022 17:43

Ds 10 wants an Xbox or PlayStation. Atm he has a switch. Need to look into which one and cost etc. he is quite tricky to buy for. He’ll probably also have some Lego, clothes and games for console.

dd7 is easier to buy for. I’m going to get her a desk for her new room (we moved house). She loves drawing so lots of drawing paper, pens etc. Barbie related things. LOL related things. And some sparkly clothes.

Favouritefruits · 22/08/2022 17:46

DS 4 would like hot wheels Rainbow road

DS8 would like Mario builder game

They both would like jointly

Treasure X robot
Mario Lego expansion packs
gravitrax expansion packs

its DS4 birthday in two weeks so I think I’ll get him rainbow road for that and figure something else cheaper out for Xmas.

Sprogonthetyne · 22/08/2022 17:58

6yo DS has asked for jurassic world super collosal blue, and will probably also get craft stuff and some books, that I would buy anyway.

3yo DD wants a dolls pushchair and a pink shark (I'm hoping teddy).

Snugglemonkey · 22/08/2022 18:04

DS6 would like a games console. He isn't sure what kind himself and I know nothing about gaming so I am very unsure! He is also asking what Santa will bring DD, but she is only due at the beginning of December so she won't give a monkey's and I don't want to spend a lot unnecessarily. We have a lot of baby toys from my son.

I am usually already squirrelling away and don't like being so clueless!

Givemeallthegin8 · 22/08/2022 18:06

Following for ideas ! Very very hard this year with 9 and 4 year old dds.

We had given them our old iPads but they’ve definitely seen better days so might get them tablets? Any recommendations for tablets ?

For 4 year old will definitely be getting playmobil, lol dolls, arts & crafts sets , games

9 year old definitely be getting books, arts & crafts , games , Pokémon cards, clothes

Following for ideas !!

Buy her a couple of things you would have brought anyway: like clothes, toiletries? And wrap up some of his old toys for her? Or buy a few cheap 2nd hand things and wrap them?

NorthernPud · 22/08/2022 18:16

Mine (tween and teen) are getting into jigsaws so def one or two each. Plus poss an Apple Watch for my DS (refurbished)

CaveMum · 22/08/2022 18:26

Watching with interest. My two (DD8 & DS5) either point at everything and say they want it or shrug their shoulders when asked - not helpful!

DD loves Harry Potter & Pokémon so we’ll stick with those themes. She has most of the HP Lego sets already and we will be getting her an illustrated Goblet of Fire as we got her the previous 3 illustrated versions over the last few years which she loves.

DS loves Star Wars and dinosaurs so again that will be our main focus. He loves to build things so I did wonder about GraviTrax but see that it is aimed at 8+. Does anyone else have it and do you think an almost 6yo would be able to cope or is it too fiddly?

NoodleDoodleDo · 22/08/2022 18:33

The only thing my DS9 has asked for is a cuddly toy that looks like our DDog who we had to have PTS a few weeks ago. He wants Santa to make it as he makes them extra special 😭

mam0918 · 22/08/2022 18:38

so far bought

14 year old:
gaming glasses, bunny suicides, exploding kittens, disco light

4 year old:
kids action camera, fuggler, wooden train set, domino run

1 year old:

I still have loads too buy, I cant buy their big stuff yet as I dont have room.

Silverbirch2 · 22/08/2022 18:41

Ds 6 and dd8 will get a switch jointly. Then a game each. A bit of lego maybe and then art stuff, smellies etc to pad it out I do pjs, hot choc etc in xmas eve box. Going to cut back the plastic test this year though.

Its not about your DD, it will ruin the magic for you DS if you dont have anything for her... thats why hes asking, its already at the forefront of his mind.

As someone else who had a big age gap you likely will need new things, I kept all my oldests stuff and half of it went wierd in storage and a bunch of it wasnt even considered safe within modern regulations any more.
