Wreck this tree has 3 very small green lemons on it so I'm hoping the south facing patio suits and we get some lemons before I bring it into the conservatory for the winter 🤞🏼
The guy in the shop was surprised there was fruit on it - apparently people pick them off as they're wandering around. He said it's why their chilli plants don't have many chillis on either 😳

NoWordForFluffy · 30/08/2022 10:57

I have a lemon tree in a conservatory in the sunny corner of a north facing garden. It does OK. Not prolific, but I reckon there's about 20 lemons on it if various sizes (it flowers all year, then they take 9 months from baby to grown lemon!).

NoWordForFluffy · 30/08/2022 10:58

Conservatory? Nope...unheated greenhouse! 🙄

Fingers crossed for lots of lemons then!

When’s everyone back to school? We’re back Monday, dd has just got her timetable and on one day has English three times. She appears to have no double lessons for English or science but still has at least two lessons of them on most days. So weird.

CrazyBaubles · 30/08/2022 11:30

DH is back to school on Friday but it's a training / inset day so no children. They all start back on Monday.

I'm looking forward to him going back. He's getting more and more annoying restless by the hour 🙄

NerosFiddle · 30/08/2022 11:32

Ds is back on Thursday and DD is going into p1 on Monday. They're staggering the p1s going in over a few days. She'll be in the last group.

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/08/2022 12:00

DDs are both back on Thursday for training days. DS doesn't go back until next Thursday as his school added the jubilee bank holiday days on to the end of the summer break. This weekend will be checking uniform and school supplies and ordering GCSE revision books 😈

WreckTangled · 30/08/2022 12:09

Ooo GCSE’s! I’m dreading it all when we get there 😬

There’s two seven week half terms too so it’s going to feel like a long slog to Christmas.

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/08/2022 12:17

I've been through it twice before Wreck and I think I'm more anxious this time round. I didn't know what to expect the first time and then DD2 was ill during hers and I was shuttling between the hospital and school.

BiddyPop · 30/08/2022 13:26

DD went back yesterday - new uniform this year (5th and 6th years wear navy, junior school and 1st-4th years wear bottle green). At least she seemed happy enough to wear it again today - she only wore it twice last year (the very first day and the very last day - when they had a transition year "graduation" ceremony and then the entire year group had dinner together followed by the ceremonial jump into the sea in the uniform as the last act in it!). And she actually remembered to bring her house keys today!!

BiddyPop · 30/08/2022 13:29

(3rd year is Junior Cert year here - which I think is the equivalent of GSCEs, and 6th year is when they do the Leaving Cert leaving school).

NoWordForFluffy · 30/08/2022 17:55

Monday here, Thurs / Fri are inset days. DS' OT will be going in to work with him this half term, so hopefully we'll start to see some improvement for him.

Fluffy - I had decided to avoid new magazine purchases but ....
Crazy - leftovers are definitely the best bits! It's a shame about the festival Wreck (I'm now at an age where I like seats!)
We're back for INSET this week and children start on Monday.
It looks autumnal here but is still hot and humid.

I've ordered a long swishy coat (SuperDry) for Winter , went through my coat collection earlier in the year and culled a couple . I keep them for years and re wear every winter .

I did recycle a navy padded George at Asda one that I'd had 4 years and started looking a bit rough .
So new coat is similar as it was one I got loads of wear from. DD has UniDays so 10% off .
And I think that's all I need to buy really .

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2022 12:11

Did you succumb, Constantly?

I hate coats. I just spend so much time getting too hot when I'm moving / in and out of places! But kind of necessary in winter. 🥶

I cannot find a nice waterproof coat. And I need one for doing the school runs.

NerosFiddle · 31/08/2022 16:43

Today is the last day of meteorological summit. Roll on Autumn!

WreckTangled · 31/08/2022 16:53

And bake off is back on soon! So exciting. Everything is feeling a bit worrying at the moment with the price rises so I’m trying to take pleasure in the little things. I told dd we will ensure our bake off snacks match the baking theme each week Grin

newmumtotwo24 · 31/08/2022 18:05

Hi all, been following this thread for a while as I love Christmas. Don't really have much to contribute (maybe at some point I will) but just wanted to say the chat and excitement often makes my fed up heavily pregnant self happy. I usually start making a cake about now but with little one due in the next few weeks I'm not sure I'll manage this year. See how easy a baby they are 🙈

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/08/2022 18:30

Nero there's this on QVC

www.qvcuk.com/Regatta-Rulford-Long-Waterproof-%26-Breathable-Jacket-with-Hood.product.194375.html?sc=IROA

Regatta have been about since forever
I have an ancient Trespass Clea parka ( I wanted a waterproof ) it is orange inside the khaki which is a bit jazzy Xmas Grin

NerosFiddle · 31/08/2022 20:48

Thanks 70. We have a regatta here so I might take a run in and see if they have anything like it.

Hello autumn! 🍁 🍂

The air has definitely changed. And we need the lights on when we first get up too. I'm also thinking about closing the greenhouse door at night, as I keep it open all summer.

I got an end of line waterproof jacket from a shop in Ambleside. I hope it lasts for many years as I can't face that again any time soon!

Happy 1st September everyone!

NerosFiddle · 01/09/2022 07:51

Morning!

First day of school and first day of autumn 😱

I got a Regatta coat. There was one down to £27 from £90. And then I got 10% off code and used Top Cashback. Plus Click and Collect is free! I'm buzzing with my bargain.

CrazyBaubles · 01/09/2022 08:24

Happy September, autumn starts now!

I'm so easily influenced, I read the thread and started online coat shopping but Unless I see an absolute bargain I'm going to resist. I don't need a coat, I just want a smart-ish one for office days but I have a down jacket, a waterproof one and a random warmish purple one.
Fluffy I get all hot and bothered when I'm wrapped up too and I hate it.
