Ah yes, Rudolph Day. No Christmas plans today!

We're going to a fun day on Sunday at the park over the road. Nice and local, and the kids are keen! There's a show / competition at the allotment on Monday, with BBQ. I'll try to get there. If possible, as the kids might not fancy it.

I’m not feeling very hopeful, it’s been almost a year since the last one came up (the one we turned down as it was too expensive).

We’re going to a festival on Sunday. Should be good fun, the weather looks nice too

I'm sure I've read someone was looking for a kids Kindle Fire? If so apparently they're half price today in the Amazon summer sale.

I've also had an email from Campus gifts, who I discovered last year due to these fab threads, and they've 20% off their Jellycats until the end of this week if that's any use to anyone - half of my children aren't children any more but Santa always puts a jellycat in their stockings. Usually there's a little back from Topcashback from there too.

Wreck I would recommend the record player. My dad did the research as he's into sound systems etc and DH is pleased.

chilly outside this morning was quite a shock. I need to go food shopping this morning which is boring and expensive. Weather looks nice for the next week and more 23°.

It's definitely autumnal in the mornings now. I'll have to start closing the greenhouse door at night again soon.

I sorted our car insurance yesterday. Exciting times! At least it's done though. Next is home insurance in December.

I slept for 11 solid hours 😱
I'm now sat on the sofa, feeling weird and spaced out, contemplating the stuff we need to do (washing, unpacking, food shopping).

I can't be bothered to do anything yet and thankfully, between my dad and FIL we've come home to well cared for plants (and some monster ripe chillis), some jobs around the house and a tip run done, mowed lawns and bread, butter, milk and a meal for 2 in the fridge. I'm so glad we bought them presents while we were away!

The weather is cool here this morning - I've put a cardigan on over my pjs and it's such a nice change.

Had a mini Mumsnet meet up with Woolly this morning, on my doorstep as you do. It was lovely to have a catch up with her.

It’s boiling here. Well, 24° and feeing very warm, shorts and t shirt weather.

I went into the range, I have to say I don’t actually like the range but I like looking at the decs, they didn’t have any out but shelves were bare in preparation. An aisle of Halloween stuff but I don’t like Halloween anyway. I spent £72 in Aldi and another £20 in sainburys so not too bad.

It was lovely to see you too Why. After putting the world to rights with you it was back to earth with a bump when I got home as the laundry fairy hadn't visited again 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ah Woolly I think my laundry fairy has been kidnapped. Not a sign of them anywhere.

Those laundry fairies are slacking here too. I had to hang two loads out first thing, so the lines are now full! The weather is pleasant, surprisingly so for a bank holiday weekend! 🤣

I need to go to Home Bargains to buy bird food and Aldi to do the usual monthly top up of cleaning stuff, loo roll etc. Exciting times. 🙄

Laundry Fairy here is a haggard old bag , checking in pockets for money and keys then selecting the detergent , putting socks, bras and delicates into laundty bags and switching on yet another load. Then I caught sight in the mirror and discovered it was Me

John Lewis has revealed it's Christmas Themes for this year , they all look a bit blousey . None of the trees look nice , very overdone .
Not the colours of Christmas for me - I like red/gold/green/silver/bronze /clear glass
No teal or lime , no pink or turquoise . No grey or black

Crazy I think the jetlag coming back is worse , your body clock takes a while to catch up . But nice to come home to a meal and some bread and milk .

I;ve not decided on the cake recipe yet Nero , I normally do something along the Delia recipe but with sultanas and caster sugar so it's less heavy .

I'm not a Nigella fan but just saw the TV show , she was making carrot cake with crystalised ginger
What is wrong with you Nigella? Carrot cake is whole cloves crushed and some cinnamon if you must -but Ginger??? Is Satan at work here

The butcher handed me a Christmas club payment card and order form this morning. I'll have to have a look back at last year's order as that was just about perfect.

70 I saw that Nigella too this morning. I have to say, I'm intrigued. I might do it before Christmas and give it a whirl.

Woolly I wish my butchers would take orders now. It would be far better to know how much it's going to cost.

Neros the total cost will depend on the weight of stuff that I buy but the payment plan means I can pay £5/10 each week and not £70/100 in one go at Christmas.

I've got dried fruit this week for Christmas cakes and puddings. I'll start soaking it all once DS goes back to school.

It all seems to be ramping up all at once. Last year actually seemed a bit flat as I was over prepared due to heeding dire warnings about possible Christmas shortages. I'm not going to buy anything else before half term unless there is an offer that means I'd be mad to ignore it.
