Morning!

It's gloomy here today. I'm hoping we're going to get some decent rainfall. Though the gloom appears to be blowing over for now.

Not much planned here. DH is going to do Parkrun and I'll do some weeding while he's there. Once he's back, I need to go into town to pick C&C orders up from a few places and do a top up food shop. I'll do some baking when I get home.

This thread is a balm to my tortured soul.

I am halfway through a big sort and tidy in the bedroom (DH was away yesterday). I now just need to find a place for things that were in the wrong place but don't actually have places to live!

That's the kind of sort which leads to emergency storage purchases here, CC! 🤣

@ConstantlyCooking That's the plan here for tomorrow.. major decluttering exercise. I've definitely been putting it off for a long time (far too long as it happens!)

I have some Charity Shop things to hand over , need to do this before the Bank Holiday as everyone will have the Oh let's have a clear out this weekend idea and some of them aren't taking new donations .

I have bought a jumper and a fleece online as the thought of going into shops to look at clothes does not fill me with joy ..

I was in ikea yesterday and saw these portable drawing bags for £10 - perfect gift for friends children, I added a pack of felt tips for £2.25, would suit primary age kids girls or boys I bought 6, glad to have made a good start!

It chucked it down last night, which is good news. Saves me from watering at the allotment today! I do still feed the beans, however, so still have that job.

It's sunny now, but with an autumnal chill to it. I took DD blackberrying yesterday, as well as for a bit of a scoot. Autumn is definitely lurking round the corner. Our weather forecast has much cooler nights coming up (and days), plus unsettled weather.

I'm just off to the allotment now. 😁

Good morning! I’m back. Haven’t read the thread, just going to start here.

It's dark now in the mornings when I get up for the gym, which is making it much harder. Dh and I slept in until almost 9 this morning 😱

dd wants a record player for Christmas so need to start looking for that. No idea what to get ds, all he wants is a PS5 which we can’t afford.

They are brilliant! I got one for DD a while ago and it's been very well used.

DD reckons our male cat has thickened his coat for the upcoming winter.
She protests he isn't just getting fat , he's preparing .

The guinea-pigs used to do the same , one minute sleek and a bit portly , next minute doubled their fur coats and chins

I picked up my autumn hot chocolate today from whittards! Banoffi and raspberry ripple :)

They had free samples of the banoffi pie wreck and it tasted lovely. I had the raspberry ripple last year so know I like that one too.

Good morning- I have finally emerged from my decluttering.
Good tip about getting stuff to the charity shops before the weekend 70.
I managed to go through shoes, a chest of drawers and the pile of doom.
I still need to go through my wardrobe but I will leave that for when I pack summer clothes away.

I'm nesting a bit today, DH is sorting out in the spare room, ready for our new arrival in the autumn. I know they won't be in there for a while, but I would much rather have things sorted before it all gets too hectic.

On the plus side he unearthed about ten rolls of Christmas wrapping paper. Does anyone else keep buying it every year without using what they have?!

So looking forward to the nights drawing in, autumn and winter. Have started my shopping early too, in the hope of getting it mostly done by the time the baby arrives. It really feels like the last few days of summer here.

We went to IKEA today. So much fun. Ds managed to come home with a giant cuddly toy 🤨 I’m such a pushover. We’ve applied for a house, I don’t think we will get it but we’re desperately hoping we will.

@WreckTangled if you don't come home with a cuddly toy, can you say you really went to IKEA at all? 😁

It's still mad at work. I'm in the midst of drafting hell. If I never see another witness statement again it'll be too soon ooh, there's one in my task list tomorrow, you say? Hurrah!.

Wreck, I reckon we'd come home with the same if we took the kids there. Dangerous game! Good luck with the house. Is it on one of the few streets you mentioned a while ago? Surely you're near the top of the list due to overcrowding?

Weetabix, yes. I have so much paper. It'll last me for life.

He did say he would pay for it himself and he doesn’t have one similar 😁

It’s in the ‘city’ ds would have to move schools but I’m pretty fed up with his anyway. We probably are but there’s a lot of people who would still be prioritised over us even if they’ve only just gone on the list ie medical needs, child with medical needs, homelessness(!) so I’m not holding my breath.

When I took DD to IJEA we got loads of toy rats for Hallowe'en (she was little at the time )

I love an IKEA trip!

We took the dog out early this morning and I’m certain I wasn’t imagining it… there was a definite autumn ‘mistiness’ to the air.

I can’t wait for September!

I have a lovely bag of lots of different Ikea animals - including a medium sized shark I bring out of my backpack for "Baby Shark" at Cubs campfire time . Need to do an Ikea trip again (in peace and quiet...) once school is back.

I finally finished all the XSt part on the bookmarks yesterday. (Yay!) Now I need to finish them all - add some stiffener and sew on a cotton backing to hide the threads. So an afternoon of work.

The Rose of Tralee started last night though, so I sat on the couch and watched it, think of the Fr Ted "lovely girls" competition but without Ted's inappropriate-ness. It finishes tonight. I don't always watch it but it is nice sometimes to fill up the calm and nice and happy tanks.
