It feels bizarre setting up the first Christmas thread on one of the hottest days of the year, yet here we are!

Lovely to see you all; take a seat and grab a mince pie as they get passed around.

Please do alert me to anything for the next thread's page of links (I'm starting fresh this year). Hope you've had a good year and looking forward to celebrating and sharing our bargain buys.

Apparently my gin box is already being packed.

We're packing some of the items in your order
Just to let you know that we're busy packing some items in your order for you and it won't be long until you'll be enjoying your ginny treat!

2under2howscary · 24/08/2022 19:22

I've just ordered the gin! Thanks so much

IDontDrinkTea · 24/08/2022 19:34

For anyone looking for OPI nail polish, they currently have 20% off nearly everything.

There’s also a big bargain on a couple of their Xmas colours. Lots is sold out but this is a link to their ‘paint the tinseltown red’ paint and there’s a few other colours left too (sorry can’t do clicky links)

Don’t forget to go through Quidco for an extra 4% cashback

Cuwins · 24/08/2022 19:37

The gin club thing: I have never done anything like this before so sorry for the silly question: if I sign up for it I will get the first basket for free, I then cancel the subscription and don't pay anything? Thinking my bf would love this

Motherofalegend · 24/08/2022 19:42

@Cuwins Hi, that’s exactly it.

Cuwins · 24/08/2022 19:44

@Cuwins Hi, that’s exactly it.

Thanks. Do I need to wait until the first basket arrives to cancel it?

Cuwins · 24/08/2022 19:49

Have ordered it. To my parents in case it comes in a marked box!

Have lurked and loved the Christmas threads since forever - thanks Reastie for creating such a special Christmas place on Mumsnet...

Delurked to share that books2door have a gorgeous set of dinosaur books - How Do Dinosaurs Learn Collection by Jane Yolen.

What a fantastic website! I've ordered 3 box sets from there, including one I'll put to one side to give to DD next year.

I set the subscription to every 3 months but I will cancel the subscription as soon as it says my order has actually been dispatched.

peasando · 24/08/2022 20:51

First sheep moment of the year (it's only August, there will be many more!) and I've ordered the gin. I did it without thinking about it but I'm not even going to pretend it's a present for someone else and not for me! 😂

Motherofplants · 24/08/2022 21:09

I have a gin drinking giftee and have also ordered the free box!

Cuwins · 24/08/2022 21:14

@Christmasiscominghohoho thanks, that's what I set mine too- atleast that gives me plenty of time to remember to cancel it

peasando · 24/08/2022 21:24

@Reastie we're on the home straight to thread 2 already! Not even September yet 😁

Mrsfussypants1 · 24/08/2022 21:26

If anyone's a John lewis rewards member it might be worth checking the app. I've received £5 off £70 spend, £15 off £150. Also £30 off £120 spent on Lego.
PLUS (not a bargain) early access to book Lewis santa visit and child recives a lego or duplo gift. Places are going quickly. We did Fenwicks santa on the roof top last year and the tickets sell out in seconds, people try to get them every year without success so didn't want to take a gamble.

princessbear80 · 24/08/2022 21:40

Yes I have the same offers at JLP.

Codes are MY5OFF70 for £5 off £70 and MY15OFF150 for £15 off £150.

Sheknowtheyrhinestones · 24/08/2022 21:44

I have the john lewis offers.
I'm confused about the santa events. It says priority booking 18th September but if you click the venues some dates are available to book! Although the date I would like isn't showing. Not sure if it means it is sold out or that it goes live on the 18th September

Mrsfussypants1 · 24/08/2022 21:48

I think it means you've got priority to book until the 18th September. I'm up North and Newcastle only has the tea party with santa event going on with the only dates available 17th, 18th and 20th. Just booked and it was £15 a child and £5 for adult ( with a menu of drinks/snacks to choose). Newcastle santa roof top experience or the story time with Santa is a fab experience but like gold dust.

Sheknowtheyrhinestones · 24/08/2022 21:53

It says from 18th to the 19th September. This isn't true though as dates are available to book

Mrsfussypants1 · 24/08/2022 22:06

I think JL have got confused with their wording. Now for our store they're is just the 19th available. I've been able to book and have a email confirmation and reminder to scan my reward card on the app on entry.

Mrsfussypants1 · 24/08/2022 22:09

Just checked the original bit when you click on the reward, it says reward is valid from today until 19th September.

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/08/2022 22:10

Has anybody bought from branded household.co.uk? They have something dd6 wants at a bargain price and lots of other good deals but I've never come across them before?

Sheknowtheyrhinestones · 24/08/2022 22:11

Mine is still saying the same as the screenshot I posted

Mrsfussypants1 · 24/08/2022 22:16

That's what's come up on mine.

oldmums · 24/08/2022 22:26
