It feels bizarre setting up the first Christmas thread on one of the hottest days of the year, yet here we are!

Lovely to see you all; take a seat and grab a mince pie as they get passed around.

Please do alert me to anything for the next thread's page of links (I'm starting fresh this year). Hope you've had a good year and looking forward to celebrating and sharing our bargain buys.

I think there is pretty much zero chance that 5pound stuff are selling blag merchandise through their website. Discount stores like this make their money by buying end of line, customer returns, last season and seconds in bulk at cut prices from companies like Kuddly and then selling them on. I got a kuddly from 5pound stuff, not vacuum packed so probably a return and it's a massive bargain. Dd has one bought from Kuddly website last Xmas and I can't see any difference in labels, stitching etc

Sallylovesdaisy · 17/08/2022 14:58

I ordered the Beauty Box, they cancelled it, but sent me an email with a link to sign up. And it automatically reinstated my order for the box. Will cancel when it's time to do so, hopefully it's easy to do 🤞🏻

VolcanicProtectorMan · 17/08/2022 15:00

@Yalz I have a real Oodie, a unicorn one and the label looks the same as yours. However like someone said, it would be easy to fake it

triplechoc · 17/08/2022 15:07

For anyone looking for Harry Potter gifts, my local branch of Boyes had some cute stocking fillers, eg notebooks, pens. I nearly bought a marauder’s map notebook for myself, the cover is magnetic and opens out from the middle I think.

For anyone buying for a Monster Jam or megalodon fan I got this Lego technic set from Amazon, if you select the box below to add the voucher it takes it down to £10.
LEGO Megalodon

I’m looking for any offers on large Squishmallows and I also need a chrome book for DS1 who is 10. I have no idea even where to start with the chrome book or what to look for. Any help appreciated.

My two navy hooded blankets arrived today. From recent conversation on here I expected them to be Primark. I was just confirming that in my mind while looking at the poor quality of the stitching and the lining fabric when I came across an oodie label in the seam.

Could anyone with a real Oodie or Kuddly direct from those companies kindly compare those labels with mine, and see if they look different?

Here’s the labels in the oodie I own.

The inside labels look different to yours but I can’t see the top properly.

For anyone after Lego Mario starter sets- the Mario set is £25 on Amazon and the Luigi is £29.98 on Amazon too. They are normally £55

Yalz · 17/08/2022 15:22

Reassuring messages about the Oodie/Kuddly, thank you.

The lining is such poor quality fleece, though. I’d be cross if I’d paid £84 for that.

The Oodie website says that theirs are “ over 10% longer than their competitors” at 98cm against 85cm.

I’m not exactly sure where to measure from, (I’m going from the top of the shoulder) but my Oodie is about 100cm and the Kuddly is about 90cm long, which seems OK.

I just tried the ok beauty box and they canceled my order straight away

Aah that's rubbish. Hopefully you'll get an email to try again?

UrbanMage · 17/08/2022 15:32

Just caved and bought 4 blanket hoodies. Not actually for Christmas but some birthdays in the new year. I have a problem! 😂

JubileeTissues · 17/08/2022 16:00

They're fakes. Lots of these cheap sites sell imitation stuff. I've received fake board games from 5 pound stuff before so I should've known better. The games were playable but quite obvious copies.

They're not advertising it as an oodie or a kuddly, that's the difference. They've said it's a hooded blanket, that's all. Which it is, a primark one. The fact it's got a fake oodie label stitched in means word will spread and the knock on effect will be that more people buy them.
The inside labels are the same as on the primark ones.

Checking in - excited to read the thread from the beginning!

Just realised we never used our cinnamon bun kit, it’s still in the cupboard and no doubt well out of date now - I guess I won’t be buying that again!

This puzzle book is a good stocking filler for £2. I don’t have this exact one but bought another one in the series for £2 a few weeks ago. Normal price £4.99

Yeh, I’d agree with this.

The quality of the Oodie I have (which I bought direct from oodie) far outweighs the ones I received today. It’s thicker, bigger and just better quality overall.

However, for £11.99 I will be keeping the fake Kuddly and gifting it to my brother for Xmas. He will never know if it’s a real one or fake one and he won’t really care.

Scout2016 · 17/08/2022 16:35

Has anyone washed any of these bargain blanket hobbies please, ideally more than once? I don't want to give anyone something that that falls apart or sheds and clogs their machine up, or to have a disappointed 6 year old upset that her new hoodie is no more!

FluffyFluffMonster · 17/08/2022 17:24

Can anyone tell me what the packaging is like with hot diamonds? Wondering for gifts

mac1974 · 17/08/2022 17:27

@FluffyFluffMonster last time I ordered from hot diamonds it came in a gorgeous large gift box & gift bag. Looks a great quality present.

FluffyFluffMonster · 17/08/2022 17:28

Fab thank you @mac1974

If they just called them hoody blankets fair enough. However if they have put a fake label in surely this is counterfeit and against the law?
I would imagine they could get a very big fine for doing that?

You only have to look on eBay and it’s full of fake Pandora etc too.
Iv had fake stuff from Amazon too.
It’s really common.
I doubt very many people complain officially. I haven’t. I either return it or just keep it if the quality of ok.

JubileeTissues · 17/08/2022 18:06

It's very common. There isn't an employee sitting in the back office stitching the labels in. That part is done in China already.

I have 2 of these purchased from oodie. They have tags on the pocket which is just oo, they don't say the oodie. The tag on the inside is the same as yours davie clothing and Care instructions.
I'm actually reporting oodie to trading standards as I've been unhappy with both the product and their customer service.

Isonthecase · 17/08/2022 18:33

@Methenyouplus4 not a soft toy but might she like some of those russian doll nesting type toys? Possibly the same sort of principle and I'm sure I've seen some animal ones. I remember finding them fascinating as a child.

Mine arrived today, 2 navy and a pink.

All day kuddly on mine, I have a real oodie and it's no where near as nice.

I wouldn't buy them again but for the price I won't be sending them back
