Bonkers Santa request

145 replies

shreddednips · 24/12/2021 11:01

My nearly 3yo DS has announced that the present he wants most of all from Santa is binbags 🤦🏼‍♀️ apparently it's 'the best present for me mummy!' and he wants them to put rubbish in. It's been a non-stop stream of excited binbag-related babble all morning. Wish he could have decided something that isn't a suffocation risk 🤦🏼‍♀️ has anyone else had any outlandish last-minute requests?

I love that! And the potato 😆

One year, when my DD was very little, she asked for ‘ribbons and peacock feathers’ Hmm

She got them!

mogschristmascalamity · 24/12/2021 15:24

Dd7 has asked for highlighter pens this year. A specific brand because she heard me moaning about the cheap ones work provide.

Last year was glue sticks. Its like she hasnt got an entire drawer full of stationery...

Shes very low cost (fortunately)Grin

MintyGreenDream · 24/12/2021 15:27

Ds 7 has asked for Pug slippers.We have 2 Chihuahuas and he has never shown any interest whatsoever in pugs! Couldn't get any anywhere so he's got a soft toy pug instead

Stillcrikey · 24/12/2021 15:29

My brother (who is 60 next year) once only wanted a massive roll of sellotape - he got one (and some other stuff).
DS aged about six wanted a Russian phrase book. He got it, carried it round all Christmas. To relatives parties and all sorts. He’s now studying for a degree in Russian. We have no connections with Russia! 🤷‍♀️

Timeisavirtue · 24/12/2021 15:30

It’s not last minute but dd9 asked for chopsticks..... bit outlandish... her brother got her some...

At least in bags are cheap 😂😂

Ericaequites · 24/12/2021 15:44

A sofa is a useful present, though expensive.

Crayzeefrog · 24/12/2021 15:46

This has made me smile! My 3yo asked for a real car and a new scooter because hers is a bit dirty 🙄. She won’t be getting either! She had been asking for a sibling but I produced her one of those in the summer so that’s off the list.

Runningmummy41 · 24/12/2021 15:46

Mine wants a penguin, like a real actual penguin. Apparently it’ll sleep under his bed on a block of ice 🤪🐧

Ormally · 24/12/2021 15:53

@bigbluebus

When my DS was 5 or 6 he asked Santa for a villa with a pool in Spain (we'd been on holiday to one the previous summer. Fortunately we were able to arrange for Santa to send him a letter saying that he didn't think he'd be able to bring that but would bring some other lovely things instead! We regularly remind DS of this - he's 25 now!
I really want polar bear cake mix now.
Ormally · 24/12/2021 15:54

@bigbluebus and thread - sorry, clearly quoted wrong post there!

Didiplanthis · 24/12/2021 16:02

@CariadWelshcake

My 31 year old son is severely autistic and this year has asked for a zebra fancy dress outfit. I have no idea why. He’s also asked for a packet of polar bear cake mix. Again, I’ve no idea why.

Finding the very big Tv he also wants was a doddle compared to those other two things but I did manage in the end.

Roll on tomorrow and why he wanted the zebra outfit.

I don’t know whether I’m excited or terrified.

I'm not sure but when my DS also autistic was in reception/yr 1 every time he was overwhelmed (most of the time) he would put on the zebra onesie in the dressing up... ONLY the zebra and no one else was allowed it just in case.. the only thing he could tell me was 'I watch the stripes go up and down' so I guess it was soothing in a sensory way !
Judellie · 24/12/2021 16:04

Ds wanted a pencil with a rubber on the end, so he got a whole packet of those. The next year he wanted to drive past the tip.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 24/12/2021 16:04

My 7yo wants fairy wings that grow out of her back like real fairy wings... so she can fly

stilldumdedumming · 24/12/2021 16:16

@shreddednips @ChocolateOatly and @noodlezoodle nope she made one for herself and I think for a friend. They are honestly brilliant. She put it in my hand and I felt instantly calmed, like I had a little friend in a cruel world - I've got a feeling it was something to do with a project for people with Alzheimer's or something. (That may have been something else). And also they may have been knitted. She is very clever and talented and gets asked to do stuff all the time - we need at least 10 of her!

TheSpottedZebra · 24/12/2021 16:36

@momonpurpose

My nephew one year asked for a block of cheese just for him. He was four. We all still remind him of this at 15
My Ds, at 4, wanted 'parsnip and no body else'.

We think he meant he wanted to gave loads of parsnips, and for no one else to have them.
He got his wish, but not on Xmas Day as I love them too and wasn't going without.

But I did make a parsnip cake, parsnip soup, etc etc...

MrsMorningStarOfBethleh · 24/12/2021 16:41

My youngest (6) has asked for a cherry blossom tree (or pink spring tree as she calls them) - she 2abts to grow it herself! So she has a bag of 6 cherry blossom tree seeds and everything she needs to grow them 😁

She said she would also like treasure - however this treasure isn't gold or jewels, this treasure is squishy ear plugs that she likes to squeeze! (She has autism) I am forever "losing" my earplugs and finding them under her pillow and in her pockets!

LaChristmasBella · 24/12/2021 16:44

Is the comfort potato similar to a fiddle muff? My dementia patients get a lot of reassurance from those, especially at this time of year, and even more so with limited/no visiting due to the pandemic.

My DS always wanted a real live Tyrannosaurus Rex. He's still waiting...

Whitefire · 24/12/2021 16:52

My 9 year old who has so far been fairly unhelpful on the present stakes, today declared that FC would be bringing her a soft toy.

Luckily we have a charity shop at our little row of shops and I managed to get one from there.

monsterflake · 24/12/2021 16:57

Not a present request but DS8 (ASD) also has pica and at the end of a very big shop including lots of treats, the shop assistant hands me a foot long receipt and my DS's eyes light up and he pipes up with "oooooooo yummy receipt!!

I have to say this thread has brought me so much joy! You all are mine and DS's people!

Jinglemychristmasbells · 24/12/2021 16:57

Me to I'm fed up with DS nicking my potatoes and having to hunt them do n when I want to cook them.

TowandaForever · 24/12/2021 17:08

@monsterflake

I have asd children and I don't say this with anything but concern. I'm sure I've read that receipts have something cancerous in them if you handle them often. I just googled it and they do. Must be worse to ingest it.

catsareme14 · 24/12/2021 17:15

For four years my nephew asked Santa for gravy !

shreddednips · 24/12/2021 17:22

Gravy! Now that would be tricky to get in a stocking 😆

I remember when dd was 4 her only request was for some nails (as in hammer-and-nails). Santa happily obliged, and also considerately brought a toolbox containing a small hammer and some random bits of wood. Hours of happily entertained small child!
