I simply couldn't find anything. He is impossible. :(
@secretrugbyfan He is 57, has no interests- I have a longer list of what he wouldn't like - experiences, any food or drink gifts, clothes (boring), gaming, tech, books, sports, dining out.
Is he interested in you......I mean no malice in that question btw. What about some some tasteful lingerie and an evening when he gets to 'unwrap' his gift?

(waits for the MN vipers to go ape shit with that one)

Is there something from his past...he is roughly my age, and when I was a teen it was all Space Invaders and 80s music. What about a TV programme he used to watch. Gerry Anderson's website has a load of stuff from his shows from back in the day.

There are a load of stars that do video messages now, pick someone that he was into back in the day....Sally James (Tiswas) and Toyah (music artist) will do personalised messages.

Let me know if these are no good......

Gastonia · 23/12/2021 15:11

At 57 a home blood pressure monitor! And multi vitamins!
Well, at 58, that's depressed me... I've got DH to buy me a Hotel Chocolat velvetiser... perhaps I should have been looking for a cholesterol test Grin

peridito · 23/12/2021 15:12

cashmere scarf ?

framed photo/pic of something personal to him - place /person

He is very social, so will visit, talk on the phone - might be wrong but I think the echo dot can be linked to your phone contacts so you just ask it to phone whovever and then chat away ....

tho if he's like my partner he won't use it because he can't remember the name to use (Alexa) .

supergloo · 23/12/2021 15:13

I just bought him a dutch oven for his fire pit. I know it will be me cooking but he can entertain with this. :)
I hope all the ideas on the thread help others too!

@danidandan

Or maybe a virgin experience day?

The missing capital "V" suggests quite a difference ...

ButterflyWitch · 23/12/2021 15:15

Does he lose things a lot? How about an Apple air tag?

I am in the same boat Grin.

If he needs it he buys it there and then. He's a gamer and has played the same three games for the last two years and not interested in any others.

Clothes and food are necessities definitely not a present according to him. He doesn't drink or smoke.

So I brought the bastard a desk tidy that holds a phone, glasses and coins. I don't care if he likes it or not but it will save him leaving his stuff in a pile on the side for me to move as it looks a mess and he will have something to open on Christmas Day.

secretrugbyfan · 23/12/2021 15:24
@secretrugbyfan I challenge you to find a present for my DF, and I genuinely mean it I am stuck. If you can think of something you'll be my saviour.
He has said no clothes, socks, gloves, scarves hats etc as he has more than he can use/wear, his only hobby is carp fishing which he does less and less and has more equipment than a professional would need, he doesn't read books, he won't do puzzles, he doesn't really drink, he's not a foodie, we have given him lots of experience days he only likes the flying ones and has done them all several times over, he drives but doesn't like it, automatic only and wouldn't enjoy track days etc. He doesn't listen to music, he doesn't use or want any tech. He enjoys walking but has bought himself new boots etc in the last few months. He doesn't garden other than obligatory lawn mowing enough which he grumbles about. He doesn't like novelty things that you might but in desperation best grandad mugs etc. When you ask him, he says he doesn't want anything, but we've bought my mum lovely presents, I know she'll enjoy and I just can't face not giving him anything!
I'm not sure where you live, but places like Murdock barbers in London offer proper wet shaves...the whole hot towel, oils, shave with a cutthroat razor etc etc. All men shave, so what about this as an option. There must be places where you live (if outside the smoke) that you could send him to for this. Combine this with a haircut and that's half a day of male pampering (assuming he's not bald of course)

How about paying for someone to mow the lawn for all of next year? If he moans about it, get someone in so he doesn't have to. Depending on budget you could also pay for someone to treat his lawn, and stripe it once the weeds/moss/shite are all out of it. A stripey lawn in a nice garden makes all the difference.

Again, let me know what you think of the above.

supergloo · 23/12/2021 15:24

Maybe its not him. Maybe I am shit at presents.

listsandbudgets · 23/12/2021 15:24

@danidandan I know what you mean by a Virgin experience day but it took a second and for a fleeting moment I was flabbergasted and horrified!

OP you have my sympathy my DP is almost impossible to buy for as well

JellyfishandShells · 23/12/2021 15:34

My DH is a very tricky one to buy for but lessons/experiences go down well. I’ve learnt not to buy just a voucher for him but to actually book the date and time as otherwise they moulder on the mantelpiece.

Booked him a flatteringly advanced cookery skills day - for later in the year in hope of masklessness by then.

thatsallineed · 23/12/2021 15:41

If he likes motorbikes, how about a visit to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon. Nice area, and you could make a weekend of it. They do events and rallies throught the year.

Covid permitting, obviously.

Magnited · 23/12/2021 15:51

@thatsallineed

Has it now moved from Bickenhill which is a bit further up the M40 and then the M42?

Ragwort · 23/12/2021 15:51

Does he give you tasteful gifts that you enjoy receiving?

There seems to be so much present buying just for the sake of ....present buying.

RantyAunty · 23/12/2021 15:51

Guided Motorcycle weekend tour experience.

Booksandwine80 · 23/12/2021 15:52

Mine is having a spa voucher. The hardship is that I will have to go with him Grin

PercyPigginton · 23/12/2021 15:54

Memory foam pillow?

RainbowConnection1 · 23/12/2021 15:58

I got mine a bench grinder and a hammer 😂

kokokokokokokokoko · 23/12/2021 16:06

vouchers for a nice meal out and about. a hotel stay, short break somewhere.

beenthereboughtthetshirt · 23/12/2021 16:07

long sleeve thermal ski underwear M&S i actually bought mine from the mens range it's soooo cosy. (It just felt warmer than the flimsy womens range)

Divebar2021 · 23/12/2021 16:12

www.brooklandsmuseum.com/

Brooklands have a programme of car and motorcycle events throughout the year. I bought my DH a day at an American muscle car event in the summer. They do motorcycle days too. We live nearby so didn’t stay but did go to The Ivy at nearby Cobham for breakfast. I dare say other tracks do similar events during the year.

beenthereboughtthetshirt · 23/12/2021 16:18

Lego? Victoria Beckham got David the Lego Milennium Falcon one year - he loved it, engrossed for hours...

thesnailandthewhale · 23/12/2021 16:30

How about on Christmas Day you engineer a chat over dinner about Christmas's gone by ... reminisce about the presents you both had as children and fine out what he really wanted Santa to bring but he never did ... then write this down ready for next year ... a friend was given one of those 2p machines that dispensed dairy milk chocolates last year and it meant the world as her dp had listened and remembered :)

PumpkinEye · 23/12/2021 16:55

Decent earphones if he talks on the phone a lot.
