A calculator that beeped when I pressed the buttons. (Sooo high tech in 1979)

A SIMON game. Remember them?

I was thinking about this thread the other day & I remembered that my absolute favourite present was a rock polisher. I used to collect pebbles like a miser collects coins & so I was given this magnificent machine that made my pebbles shine as if they were jewels. At least in my eyes.

I'm so old that when I was little all my Lego only came in red & white.

WendyWeber · 23/12/2007 22:58

Ohhh, I am too old even to have had red and white Lego, but my little bro (born in 64) used to have it and what I remember of his was the triangular edging bits to make a proper roof - do you know what I mean? I used to love playing with his (and making a proper roof)(saddo )

My best present ever was the walking talking (ma-ma) doll I got when I was about 7 - my mum had sewed and knitted some clothes for her too. I remember coming downstairs when it was still dark and the fireplace was full of ashes and she was wrapped up under the tree.

I still have the doll, but not the clothes (I particularly remember a knitted suit in turquoise wool with white angora edging - she had bought special patterns from somewhere)

I didn't have the roof tiles but we did have them at primary school - not to mention windows. I was dead excited by windows...

WendyWeber · 23/12/2007 23:08

Oh windows...!!!

They don't do those triangular bits any more though, do they? We have 2 of those huge buckets full of various bits of Lego and not a triangular roofing bit amongst them

fortyplus · 23/12/2007 23:13

Ooh.. you need to go to Legoland!!! they do EVERYTHING in the big shop there! Roof tiles, windows, wheels...

Twinklemegan · 23/12/2007 23:14

Oh I'm loving this thread. It's reminded me of loads of things I'd forgotten about.

I had those fashion plates - I can't believe it's a vintage toy now! I'm not that old!
I had a Major Morgan as well - I loved that.

My ever favourite Christmas present that I remember was a pink Care Bear (the one with a rainbow on the front). I've still got it to this day.

Twinklemegan · 23/12/2007 23:14

Ever favourite??! Make that favourite ever

fortyplus · 23/12/2007 23:15

Care Bears... you must be years younger than me!

Twinklemegan · 23/12/2007 23:16

I'm 31.

fortyplus · 23/12/2007 23:18

Well I got that right then! This is making me feel very old... I sort of still think of myself as about 30 but then I'm shocked when I realise that actuall I'm nearer 50!

WendyWeber · 23/12/2007 23:18

My DDs had Care Bears (born 82 and 85)
