A calculator that beeped when I pressed the buttons. (Sooo high tech in 1979)

A SIMON game. Remember them?

A Lundby dolls house. I was so overcome I handed all the other presents to my sister because there couldn't possibly be anything else for me.

She was really pissed off when we opened them and it turned out it was the furniture, car and dolls to go in the house... all mine, too!

BJB21 · 19/12/2007 20:39

LOL at Simon game too!

My fave(and ive never heard of anyone else having it) and sister's too, was something called Madame Rosa's crystal ball which was a fake(obviously) crystal ball . You had to pretend to read peoples fortune. Accessories with it included a gypsy headscarf and big ring to wear. My auntie bought them for us. Id love to know of anyone else who had it. My dp thinks im joking i think when i tell him about it.

a red raleigh apple bike. i was 5.

binklebells · 19/12/2007 20:49

Kids from fame jersey dress with leg warmers that I loved! That year my cousins got an Atari - I was seething with envy!!!

My brother had the evil kinevil action figure that you wound up on a wheel and it shot off down the hall doing a wheelie - absolute class!!

Anna8888 · 19/12/2007 20:53

The year I was seven I got a bicycle for Christmas; my younger sister got a boxful of dolls' clothes sewn by my mother and wrapped in tissue.

I was so of my sister.

Mincepiedermama · 19/12/2007 20:55

I dreamed of a Tiny Tears.

I was pretty happy though with my mouth organ and the roller skates.

DEBauchedChristmasMUMmers · 19/12/2007 20:56

My best (shared with my sister) was a dolls tea set made from real china. FC came in the night and laid it out on a tablecloth on the bedroom floor.
So when we woke up in the morning it was all set up for a tea party. I was just so in awe.

Other good presents, though I don't remember getting them was dolls cots (one for me one for my sister), even had sides that slid down like a real cot, that my dad made and my mum made all the bedding, . Also a dolls house, again made by my dad - it even had lights that worked! DD now has the cot & will get the dolls house when she is less likely to spoil it.

PussinWellies · 19/12/2007 20:59

A guinea pig.
(I know, never give pets as presents, etc, etc...)

Maidamess · 19/12/2007 22:19

binkle, god I wanted that Fame outfit. A girl at my school had it. I was . It had a really twirly short circular grey marl skirt. Humph. Still jealous now.

I had a Sindy house with the lift going up the outside !!!

It was soooooooo cool.

chipmonkey · 19/12/2007 22:21

A rocking wooden cradle made by my Dad with his own hands, he also used to make wooden sheep, pigs, etc on wheels, child-size tables and chairs, one year he made a farm in a wooden case for one of my sisters and a city in a wooden case for my other sister. Apparently my sister went into the shed where he was working one day and saw the green case he had made for the farm. When she asked what it was, he had to cover up quickly and say it was a suitcase for a work colleague. He then had to repaint it completely so she didn't recognise it on Christmas day! Apparently the paint was barely dry on Christmas Eve.
It really reinforced our belief that the elves made the presents. Not so easy to believe when the presents are Nintendo DSs!

Maidamess · 19/12/2007 22:25

Laurie, I see your Sindy with a lift...and I raise you a full set of Holly Hobbie dolls circa 1978.

OP posts:
Lauriefairycake · 19/12/2007 22:27

I wasn't allowed Holly Hobby (but I pestered my gran to make me a dress like hers - it was lovely)

instead I will raise you a full set of Weebles, with swings, a roundabout and a house !!

SnowMuchToBits · 19/12/2007 22:27

Amanda Jane doll ( and clothes and furniture for house, but not all at same time) - anyone else remember those (I am old!)

Also a feeding set (supposed to be for dolls) for my teddy bear. Still have teddy bear, but not feeding set lol!

DanJARMouse · 19/12/2007 22:28

Big Yellow Teapot

Maidamess · 19/12/2007 22:28

Damn you and your weebles!

Izzybel · 19/12/2007 22:28

Lauriefairycake, I had a Sindy house with a lift going up on the outside too! I can't remember how old I was , but it was huge! Made of cardboard and a pink, plastic frame! I was so exited, on xmas morning, when I ran into the lounge and saw it standing there, all set up. It was bigger than me, at the time.

peanutbutterkid · 19/12/2007 22:29

A little oven I could make my own chocolate cakes in (think I was 3, but this late 1960s so I guess it seemed safe enough back then).
I can still taste and smell them.

Lauriefairycake · 19/12/2007 22:30

Yep, I remember it being bigger than me too - it had a swimming pool on the roof I(not a real one like the new Barbie stuff but one painted on the roof with real loungers around it)

Lauriefairycake · 19/12/2007 22:30

And that same year was the first year soft bodied dolls came out - I got one of those and I called her Diana (it was just as they started dating)
