My 1st and best was a tree house, it close shut to look like a tree but then you could open it up and it had 4 rooms, a slide, a car a swing, sigh it was great. My mum gave it away without asking me (and no, I wasn't 15)

And the other was a sort of fashion design art set thing where you could choose different plates with different outfit on, then put paper on top and draw over it, and other plates has different textures, so when you coloured it it, ths dresses etc could all have different patterns. I spent hours making different outifts for a cardboard doll with tabs over the shoulders etc.

Blimey, I sound old did anyone have one? Can you still get them. It was fab

mumeeee · 20/12/2007 11:48

A Jacko Monkey I got at about aged 3 or 4. I told my Mum I wanted this a few days before Christmas and she trailed the shops to get one. I still have it!

The My Little Pony Dream Castle. I remember playing with it all that Christmas day.

Much better than the new version!!

casbie · 20/12/2007 12:05

can't remember if it was a birthday or chrimbo pressie:

spirograph

it was a blue plastic box, with yellow transparent slides and i spent ages cutting paper to fit and trying out all the combination of slides. the best thing about it was that you could clip the slides into the unit and not loose them!

fab!

mrspnut · 20/12/2007 12:06

My best ever present was a huge tree house my dad built in the garden - it had a rope ladder, a slide and a rope swing.

I was supposed to share it with my siblings but I was the oldest and therefore the boss, so I could say who came in.

adventkerzylin · 20/12/2007 12:07

A budgie. It was the only time we ever got a pet for Christmas and I tamed him.
Cried for a whole day when he died.

wheelsonthebus · 20/12/2007 12:07

a Pacman. Oh yes and a pair of roller skates.

kittylouise · 20/12/2007 16:18

Ernest - I had that tree house and the circular fashion plate set!!! That was so much fun I loved it (though was incredibly inept and used to muck it up, most of the time).

And I forgot all about my sindy doll house having a lift on the outside (that was probably the first thing i broke on it, if I am honest).

And rainbow brite doll! This thread is so taking me back. Good old early 80s toys!

ernest · 20/12/2007 17:09

I've just googled it - it is described as a 'vintage toy' . SO I am old after all

kittylouise · 20/12/2007 17:11

Christ, can you think of all the money that could be made form my old toys on ebay.

And my gran threw them out in a mass loft clear out when I was 15, along with all my Enid Blyton books (sob).

ernest · 20/12/2007 17:16

Do they really not make fashion plates anymore. They were soooooooo great. there's even blogs about them!

Gosh sounds like I was spoiled but I got them over a range of years

Absolute best present was when I had my tomboy phase and I got a technic lego ?ice station? which had pnuematic (sp) lifts and took me 4 hours to put together on christmas morning!!!

fortyplus · 20/12/2007 18:01

A fountain pen that cost 6 shillings in 1970

sindy and her horse

A real pony (when I was 12)

PatsyCline · 20/12/2007 18:12

Tippy Tumble.
Pippa Doll and horse.
26 Dolls of the Commonwealth in national dress - all of whom I named Elizabeth.
A very ugly rag doll named Patto (I loved her very much and still can't face binning her).

I experienced intense envy every time my friend Joanne Cannon got a new Sasha doll. I still want one.
