Any families having to now isolate over Christmas?

I am positive and finish isolation on 23rd, but we have two small children who haven’t had it yet, neither has my partner, so we have cancelled visiting both our families. I’m a bit disappointed and worried kids will be bored, but also quite excited to not have to stress about going anywhere, and also watching Eastenders live in peace! Anyone else in the same boat?

Not isolating but wouldn't bother me if I had to. I purposely don't make plans over Christmas with anyone other than my DH and DC. Can't bear the thought of dragging everyone here there and everywhere. There's something nice about battening down the hatches for a few days.

Hope you have a lovely peaceful Christmas OP!

Justjoinedforthis · 15/12/2021 12:08

Yes I agree it’s quite nice to just settle in at home for a bit!

I wouldnt assume they'll catch it. I am out of isolation on the 23rd, it's the second time I've had covid in 4 months. Last time both DC had it, but not DH and none of us isolated.

I'm hoping no one else's immune system is as shit as mine in the house and parents can still come on the 25th!

actiongirl1978 · 15/12/2021 15:58

I mean isolated in the house from each other

Justjoinedforthis · 15/12/2021 16:22

That’s so interesting, it’s such an unpredictable beast!

Yes, my son has just tested positive.
This will be the third Christmas that we’ve been apart.

Hoping to have a late family Christmas around 27th

Apple40 · 15/12/2021 16:37

My sister in law is currently isolating as her daughter tested positive, they finish isolation on 23rd. We are all meant to be having Christmas together at in-laws but I have told the in-laws we don’t feel comfortable coming round if sister in law and family are there as I will be seeing my week old niece the next day.

Apple40 · 15/12/2021 16:38

Sorry 9 week old niece.

Twopenny · 15/12/2021 16:41

I'm the only one in the house that doesn't have covid. Everyone finishes their isolation on the 20th, so we should be fine to visit family for Christmas. Unless I get it now, of course, which would bollocks up EVERYTHING. I'm doing a reasonable job of isolating myself (even though it's the most weird and uncomfortable thing. I feel like a servant living below stairs) so I'm really hoping all will be fine.

Argh good luck - it’s the uncertainty that’s unbearable (imo)

I'm not,but wouldn't actually mind staying at home with the DC instead of running around visiting.

You've had Covid TWICE IN 4 MONTHS ShockShockShock

Is that some sort of record ?

That's awful Thanks

Not a record sadly i was the same. Had it in july (albeit asymptomatic) then had it beginning of November. Hoping that means I am ok for Christmas but seeing as I am in retail I am taking nothing forgranted and have christmas dinner bits in my freezer just in case

Hope anyone currently isolating is not too poorly and you all feel better soon Flowers

luverlybubberly · 15/12/2021 18:34

My kids caught it this summer but I didn't (according to LFT and lack of symptoms) I think that there was a study of how many people caught it from the person that they share a bed with and it was surprising how many didn't

DS comes out of isolation at midnight on 20th. Really hoping the rest of us remain clear and we can at least enjoy some sort of Christmas!

Yubaba · 15/12/2021 19:29

Ds2 tested positive today, he’s in isolation till next Wednesday, the rest of us have had a pcr this evening and we’re just waiting for the results.
Ds started with symptoms on Monday and was negative on an LFT but school insisted he needed a pcr before he could come back. Half his class is off with it now.

Lovemusic33 · 15/12/2021 19:33

Quite possibly, just had a call from DC’s father saying the dc were in contact with covid at the weekend when he had them (his partners son). I’m hoping they won’t get it as they have already had covid once, one is vaccinated and one isn’t.

TBH I’m not too bothered, I would quite like not having to visit family over Christmas, last Christmas was bliss. Luckily I’m organised so we have got most things sorted or ordered for Christmas.

christmascovid7356 · 15/12/2021 19:37

We are! DH positive & isolating in bedroom. Due out 24th.

If we test positive too then he'll come out into house as we will miss Christmas anyway.

Feeling pretty shit about it.

Poor DS (2)

JaninaDuszejko · 15/12/2021 19:41

Just found out DS is a close contact, LFT is negative but he's under 12 so not vaccinated. Currently having a heated discussion with DH about if we should have his entire family to visit for a week over Christmas or if we should cancel now.

Poor DH too, why is he isolating on his own in one room?
Ahhhhhbisto · 15/12/2021 19:50

Three positive cases here. Christmas will be spent isolating! Also another 2 that could catch it in between then and nowConfused

Justjoinedforthis · 15/12/2021 20:20

Sorry to everyone who is positive, sending well wishes.

Trying to focus on the positives. And hopefully this will space out the kids presents a bit.

Yep. Won't see my family now who live abroad and I haven't seen in over 2 years. Fucking heartbroken.

maudmadrigal · 15/12/2021 21:22

DD positive, due out of isolation on Xmas eve. DS has cough and cold but testing negative. Rest of us negative at the moment, but won't be going anywhere if we catch it from DD now.
We're supposed to be spending Christmas day with the local relatives. I'll bee disappointed, but it'll be fine if we do have to spend it on our own. I will be really sad if my relatives from the other side of the county can't come down on Boxing Day though. Bit of an anxious wait...
