I've done 80:20 in favour of in store shopping. It's been time consuming though and in hindsight I actually wish I'd done more online.

Traffic, parking, achy feet from lots of walking, busy, queues, not really sure what I'm looking for. Just no fun. Only downside to me for online shopping is all the packaging you then have to get rid of.

What about you?

I've done everything online - I even bought my real tree online and had it delivered.
I have anxiety and physical health issues and its been a Godsend for me. OH on the other hand, has had to make many trips to the recycling centre!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 12/12/2021 21:32

100% online.

I did some present shopping in shops on behalf of my work today and it was NOT a good experience.

I get my food shopping delivered, too. Everything, really.

TheNamelessGirl · 12/12/2021 21:33

100% online. But then I've been doing that for many years now!

Ilikewinter · 12/12/2021 21:34

Present shopping ive done 100% online. Food shopping I do in store.

Blanketpolicy · 12/12/2021 21:36

Even before internet shopping (yes I am that old!) I've never enjoyed either the high street or shopping centres. Christmas shopping is my idea of hell.

I am probably close to 99:1 online.

changing221 · 12/12/2021 21:37

About 80% online.

Namechangedforspooky · 12/12/2021 21:38

Almost all online, including buying from a lot of local businesses
I won’t buy food online though, I like to look at the quality, especially fruit and veg!

Fallagain · 12/12/2021 21:39

All online.

TokyoSushi · 12/12/2021 21:45

About 98:2 Online

Redwinestillfine · 12/12/2021 21:49

99% online. I usually do 100% online but my daughter wanted to go Christmas so I relented and took her and picked upa few bits and bobs with her. It was hideous. Not sure what there was a to like about crowds and crap Christmas music.

sunshineandshowers40 · 12/12/2021 21:52

I reckon I'm 80/10 online.

ohidoliketobe · 12/12/2021 21:53

90% online. The remaining 10% was stocking filler type stuff like chocolates bought during my usual weekly shop, I.e. not a special shopping trip

NinaDefoe · 12/12/2021 21:55

100% online until today. I dragged myself to our little town and bought loads from small independent shops. Probably 50/50 now.
Really pleased I went as I found some lovely presents. All present shopping is done now - just a bit of food for Christmas dinner and I’m finished.

lazylinguist · 12/12/2021 22:02

About 80% online. I hate Christmas shopping in the actual shops!

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 12/12/2021 22:03

All online. Except we’ve done one grocery shopping trip to tide us over ‘til at least the middle of January.

WhoAmI22 · 12/12/2021 22:11

Probably end up being 95:5 in favour of online.

I actually hate that that I've done that as I work for an independent retailer that specialise in jewellery and giftware, and we rely on this time of year! I've complained to colleagues loads of times about everyone shopping online 🤦🏼‍♀️ but I'm currently on maternity leave with a 6 week old and I've had a rough time of it so if I hadn't shopped online it just wouldn't have been done.

Blossom64265 · 12/12/2021 22:22

We are still shielding for medical reasons. All my shopping is online, including Christmas shopping.

Fastforwardtospring · 12/12/2021 22:23

80/20 online however DD and I spent a couple of hours in town today, we got there early to beat the rush, our town, like many others doesn’t have the shops it used to, however we have a lot of small independent Pop-up shops selling a wide variety of products, these were lovely to browse around and we picked up some great gifts, it was quite a pleasant experience but only because we went early.

DoubleShotEspresso · 12/12/2021 22:25

100% online I've become a convert to this and it's just so much easier

StruggleStreet · 12/12/2021 22:27

100% online for me too. Has given me something to do during night feeds and have saved money being able to shop around for the best deals. Can’t see me going back to in store shopping for many things now.

Megan2018 · 12/12/2021 22:33

90% online. The only in person has been at a lovely very local independent place, where I got the gifts for work colleagues and nursery staff.
Everything else is online, but we live rurally and as I largely WFH I can’t be bothered to drive to proper shops which is a 45-60 min drive away. When I was at work in the city daily it was easier to shop in person.

yellowgreysocks · 12/12/2021 22:37

95% online.

cheeriobye · 12/12/2021 22:37

Wow this is a revelation. I've done it all wrong!

Next year I will be inking shopping more.

How do you feel about potentially the end of high street stores in towns/cities or are your local shopping centres already seeing a decline in shop offerings?

OP posts:
elp30 · 12/12/2021 22:40

I did all my Christmas shopping for gifts yesterday, 100% in-store.
I'll be doing all my Christmas grocery shopping in-store too.

I will say that I did look online first and researched reviews of the gifts before I walked into the store and I had also researched alternatives. I just wanted to feel reassured to look and hold the items in-person before purchasing the gifts. I was in and out of the stores within an hour.

wanttomarryamillionaire · 12/12/2021 22:41

Probably 90/10 in favour of online! I detest the shops at this time of year, hot, busy and stressful.
