Other than the traditional Christmas dinner stuff the foods we love and signify Christmas for us are:

Baileys

Manzanilla sherry

Red wine

All the cheese! But has to be brie, goats cheese, gorgonzola, stilton, boursin, sage derby and stuffing flavoured cheese from the cheese wedge company. Posh crackers and chilli jam, truffle honey, quince paste and red onion marmalade

Turkey and stuffing crisps

Gammon with a marmalade glaze

Aldi lobster and crayfish macaroni cheese

Aldi scallops in champagne sauce

Terry's chocolate orange

Toasted bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese

Twiglets

Salted pistachios

Mince pie and a latte at Costa

I found some fair trade cashews so bought a few packets.
On the minus side my adult DD found the hidden lebkuchen and laughingly ate the in-front of me….She is on my naughty list!

I buy the pre-cooked ones (Merchant something) in pouches . Stirred into the sprouts , they have a gorgeous smooth velvety texture .

Alll the food!!!

Each year I ask my family what treats they really fancy.

We do all the usuals cheese, wines, crackers, chocs but it’s nice to get some real specific faves too. Mine are the M&S salt and black pepper crisps (the ones that are all different shapes) and Sainsburys chocolate covered shortbread wreaths. My husbands are Celebrations. chocolate oranges and pig in blanket crisps. The kids like mini cheeses, chocolate mousses and lots of toppings for hot chocolates.

Pret Christmas sandwich!

Cheese and crackers - but any tips on how to keep them fresh? There is only two of us here and they usually end up going stale!

Party food but for tea with champagne.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 04/11/2022 12:58

Ohhh I used to LOVE a Pret Christmas sandwich, can't bloody eat them anymore 😭

'Cheese and crackers - but any tips on how to keep them fresh? There is only two of us here and they usually end up going stale!'

@Myleakycauldron

Crackers stay fresh and crunchy if they're placed in the fridge in an open container. Cheese lasts alot longer than advertised, I wrap it and keep in the back of the fridge. You could just buy small amounts.

Myleakycauldron · 04/11/2022 18:38

@Caughtupinsomething I have never heard of that with crackers and I'm definitely going to give it a go!

We always go overboard with cheese which I agree lasts for ages but definitely doesn't go well with soft stale crackers :(

Caughtupinsomething · 04/11/2022 21:59

@Myleakycauldron I hadn't either but a friend suggested it, and it works amazingly! The packet has to be left open when in the fridge. I wonder if it has something to do with more moisture when they've covered/in airtight container.
If you buy a cheap small pack of crackers and try it out before Christmas you won't be disappointed!

Caughtupinsomething · 04/11/2022 21:59
