🤔 I was surprised to see that the Co-op already has the Christmas edition of the Radio Times. I didn’t buy it. A bit too early for me.
I NEVER buy a TV guide except for Christmas and then sit and mark out what I want to watch.
So TV guides for Christmas, yes, no and which one?

I always buy the Christmas TV guide and always buy the Radio Times one. I like to check through it and make a note of what I want to watch! I like to see what Christmas specials are on and set them up to record in advance.

It's out?? This is very exciting! Will have a look today

SunInMyEyes · 04/12/2021 09:08

I always get the Radio Times Christmas edition. I actually don't know why because I dislike most of the BBC's programmes (Call the Midwife, Eastenders, Strictly etc) and am not interested in reading their 'specials' about them - yes, I know they review stuff from other channels, but not as much. And also they use the same film reviews year upon year - I wish they'd get some new eyes to review older stuff.
I do enjoy sitting with a coffee and going through it with my highlighter though.

ExquisitelyDecorated · 04/12/2021 09:11

I always bought the Radio Times, till last year when I went to recycle it and found I hadn't even looked at it. So I decided that was it, no more. I probably will be tempted to though.

Tumbleweed101 · 04/12/2021 10:36

I only get this at Xmas as it was the only time we got one when I was growing up so it's more the ritual of it than anything. Usually a radio times.

Sn0tnose · 04/12/2021 12:49

Tv times and radio times. I’ve always bought both. I read them then give one to my mum.

Pixiedust1234 · 04/12/2021 13:04

TV Times as I prefer their layout for the channel listing. I enjoy marking out which programmes I want to watch..and end up missing most of them Sad. It really is a waste of money but its as much a Christmas ritual as putting up a tree or cooking a turkey for dinner.

sueelleker · 04/12/2021 15:06

I get the TV and Satellite guide throughout the year, but I always buy the festive Radio Times double issue-I like the articles.

Justme10 · 04/12/2021 15:08

Always get the radio times, I love looking through it Xmas Smile it's just tradition!

WrappedInRed · 04/12/2021 15:10

I still get the Radio Times at Christmas, again its a tradition! 🎅

FinallyHere · 04/12/2021 15:11

Christmas Radio Times is as much a thing as the nine lessons and carols are for me, true heralds of Christmas.

KatherineJaneway · 04/12/2021 15:12

Haven't bought it for years. I rarely watch live TV as the main stations have so little to offer over Christmas now.

BeefSupreme · 04/12/2021 15:21

I can’t even remember the name of the one I usually buy. It’s the cheapest one though Grin
I only buy a tv mag at Christmas and yes, I do circle what I want to watch. I think I circled a grand total of 2 films last year. Tv gets worse and worse every year.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 04/12/2021 15:26

Christmas radio times here. It's a little ritual. Settle down one December evening with a mullled wine and circle everything I want to watch.....then never end up watching hardly any of them 🤣

CherieBabySpliffUp · 04/12/2021 15:28

I always get one of the cheapest TV mags through the year and treat myself to the Christmas Radio Times. I was shocked to see that the normal weekly is £3.50 so the Christmas one would be £7! I don't think I'll be getting it this year.

Geamhradh · 04/12/2021 15:44

Both Radio and TV times.
It's just a thing I treat myself to (along with Good Food mag) I had seen it was out on 7th so best get cracking and get them.

ItsDinah · 04/12/2021 15:45

Christmas Radio Times because I listen to the radio more than I watch TV. Nothing else has a good guide to BBC Radio programmes. The rest of the year I use online guides.

StarryNightSparkles · 04/12/2021 15:56

I have a little tradition of buying the radio times at Christmas. I like to sit and read through it with a cup of tea and a mince pie circling what I want to watch 🎄

MrsDThomas · 05/12/2021 08:28

I used to buy the RT. Excitement to see what was on. Now its just the same old shit we’ve seen before.

And its too expensive.

ExquisitelyDecorated · 05/12/2021 08:38

I always used to do the sit down with a mince pie and circle everything I want to watch. Then I'd find I never made time to actually watch any of it.

ExquisitelyDecorated · 05/12/2021 08:39

The final straw was when I realised how much the RT costs now.

Littlebelina · 05/12/2021 08:42

I used to get the radio Times until it got so expensive. Have got one of the cheapies last 2 years but not sure if I'll bother this time

maofteens · 05/12/2021 08:49

No, never have. I didn't grow up in the UK though so maybe it's some sort of tradition here!

Bellafrenum · 05/12/2021 16:01

Got my Radio Times!

There's nothing on again. Sigh.

the80sweregreat · 05/12/2021 16:03

What's on tv!
I buy it every week , love the Christmas one..
( when I discover it'll be all Christmas tv rubbish like last year )
