We like: exploding kittens, Dobble, One night werewolf, carcassone, blokus and Love letters. Looking for something new for this Christmas.

Thanks.

@mrsm43s

Splendor or Azul?

Or, cards against humanity? It's old, and a bit lame really, but teenagers find their parents being inappropriate hysterically funny. I'd pretty much got to the point of being totally over CAH, but the teenagers have given it a new lease of life!

You are lucky. My teens banned me from playing it as they thought it would upset my delicate maternal mind. My students once coaxed me into a game and then there was a fire drill at college just before the first card so I have yet to play it. DC just say NO!!!! It's not for you!!!! when I suggest it.

Risk and Labyrinth- even if you think they don't look like your thing, believe me they will suck you in!!!!! Articulate, trivial pursuit, ludo, snakes and ladders, monopoly!!

bettytaghetti · 03/12/2021 19:15

Skyjo is great. Easy to learn rules, can play for however long DH's attention span lasts you're up for. Great for multi age groups too 👍

BonnyEm · 03/12/2021 19:18

If there's a geek retreat near you I would recommend Magic the gathering and geek retreat host learn to play mtg lessons (3 lessons for £10).

Code names, linkee and chameleon are favourites here

kennythekangaroo · 03/12/2021 19:24

I really like Camel up and ticket to ride but was introduced to taco cat goat cheese pizza at a games evening recently which was great fun.

BasiliskStare · 03/12/2021 19:54

You may have to do this on eBay because it is vintage - but in our family The Sigma File is an absolute hands down winner

Frenchfancy · 03/12/2021 20:22

Camel up. Splendor, Azul and ticket to ride all very popular here. Seven wonders is our absolute favourite.

Whatever you do do not get your teens into Magic the gathering. DD and her boyfriend have spent ££££ between them in the past year.

SquirrelsEverywhere · 03/12/2021 20:32

Super, thanks everyone. I'm googling away looking at all these. Azul is beautiful but dh thinks it looks a bit boring Hmm

Ps there are some SERIOUSLY earnest but bad you tube videos explaining the rules of games out there. Some manufacturers should pay the you-tubers to take them down!

Watch dice tower for reviews on YouTube

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 03/12/2021 22:25

Azul is not boring! Have a look at the summer pavilion version, you can really shaft each other with that one.

SSOYS · 03/12/2021 22:45

Chameleon is an absolutely brilliant game, perfect fit teens and you can make it as long or short as you want. One of my real faves.

maofteens · 03/12/2021 23:47

Scrawl looks like a rip off of Pictionary which is great.

2319inprogress · 04/12/2021 00:37

Qwerkle
Quacks
Wingspan
Sagrada - beautiful game
Magic maze - infuriating gameGrin

sandgrown · 04/12/2021 00:42

Articulate is loved by our lot plus good old Trivial Pursuit

Notspeakingup · 04/12/2021 00:57

I'm trying to decide on a new game too.

Throw throw burrito is fun but so exciting that we have a 5pm cut off or else youngest child can't cope with the brawling!

GnomeDePlume · 04/12/2021 01:07

Pit

It's a family favourite. If you can, just get the cards. It doesnt need anything else.

Itsnotdeep · 04/12/2021 07:02

Watching for ideas. We played Cards against Humanity last year - my 16 yo (who wasn't drinking) is traumatised by it.

I've got Throw Throw Burrito in my amazon basket. We do like Risk, Catan, Pandemic and Ticket to Ride.

Itsnotdeep · 04/12/2021 07:05

We really enjoyed Code Names last year.
