Thanks @Carrie76 for the title. Just for everyone’s info - the chat was about tablet size 😁

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

thaegumathteth · 30/11/2021 04:20

I know this is asking for the moon on a stick but my godson has been wanting an Xbox series x since this time last year - I've signed up to alerts etc but just in case anyone sees one please tag me?

(It wouldn't be from me btw I'm not that generous! 😂)

I posted this in a separate thread but have had no replies yet so thought I’d ask here.

Does anyone know anything about this website and how to access the 1921 census? I have a family member who has been researching his family tree recently and is very excited about the release of the census after Christmas. I thought I could
Get a gift voucher or something for Findmypast but I’ve been on the website don’t really know what I would need to buy.

sorryiasked · 30/11/2021 06:29

@BarryBob77 there shouldn't be a charge to access the 1921 census as its public record "owned" by the National Archives. I believe they're just using Find My Past as the online sharer.
There will be a charge to see the actual transcripts of the census rather than the digitised search records.
Usually it's a pay per view system so I'm not sure you'll be able to buy anything now as it doesn't release until 6th January. You could try emailing find my past and asking?

@invasionofthegutsnatchers

Sorry I think it finished at midnight but if you are near an Asda they have 20% off some giftcards in store until friday and The Dining Out Card is included which definitely includes Toby Carvery

VikingNorthUtsire · 30/11/2021 06:49

@PeppaPigWorld thank you for the tip on buying credits for photo calendars, I used the Quidco £5 bonus window to buy a couple of credits yesterday, definitely didn't have time to sit and make calendars but can do it at the weekend 😊

SingItToWinIt · 30/11/2021 06:53

@BarryBob77 have you looked at your local Council to see if they have an archive department/service?

Last Christmas I happened upon my local one by chance - a joint archive department for our County and the next - and they were offering packages clearly aimed at Xmas gifters.

I paid £45 and had the most wonderful gift for my mum - a full report going back 5 generations. Firstly a write up, written in story mode about everyone that could be found on my mums tree - mainly with personal facts but also some information about key events that happened during individuals lifetimes and how that would likely have effected them given their job/age/sex etc. Then copies of all the birth, marriage, death, army certificates etc.

It's well worth a look, I was blown away by how good value it was!

BlueFlavour · 30/11/2021 06:55

I just wondered if anybody could help with inspiration for my 18 yo nephew please. He has Aspergers, he’s very into history, wars, family trees. He’s incredibly particular. This would be his main present from his mum (my sister). She’s completely stuck.
I’ve bought him a genius type game and some shortbreadSmile. He loves buns and cakes.
Budget around £100. Thank you very much.

Chocolateteabag · 30/11/2021 07:02

YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie · 30/11/2021 08:30

@BlueFlavour my son has ASD too and tbh the best presents for him are ones he actually asks for. Not as fun for us as there’s no surprise, but if he doesn’t actively WANT something then he doesn’t want it at all. It’s taken us many years to learn this, and he’s found Christmas very difficult in the past. It’s worth having a look online with him to see if anything takes his fancy. Little treats like his favourite chocolates still go down well, and my son loves a particular Pokémon drink which we can only get in the Chinese supermarket here.

mumonthehill · 30/11/2021 08:56

@memo7 did the transaction that would qualify you for the bonus track? If not that would be why. If a transaction hasn't tracked after 72 hours you can manually raise a claim. There's more in their help section here.

You can hire experts to research your family tree or house and put together a book of all the info. I looked it up once and the deal I wanted cost about £150 but you can get cheaper / more expensive things.
BlueFlavour · 30/11/2021 09:32

@CatOfTheLand
Thank you Smile. That’s a great idea. I’m going to google.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a cheap Happy Napper. DD's 6&3 have been asking for one for months. And it was the first thing on their Christmas list.

All the reviews are rubbish, they break, the girls will probably never use them. But I'm happy to spend maybe £20 each if it will make them happy.

I was hoping for an amazing Black Friday deal but haven't noticed any.

All help greatly appreciated x
