Independent sellers and small businesses

I think it was last year that there was a thread running where people recommended small businesses or Etsy shops they’ve bought from. I’m really keen to support the small business this year, plus on the whole are that little bit different.

Any recommendations?

I think I found Ciora on here from last year for THE BEST slippers I and DH have ever had. Got some on sale and they keep your feet warm without getting sweaty. Hoping to get the hot water bottle and bed socks this year!

The delivery also comes with a mini bag of haribo Smile

The Gilded Teapot in Lymington. This shop is a treasure all produced by them some of the loveliest teas we have tried. www.thegildedteapot.com

Have just posted this on the Christmas thread but it should be here, too:

I have used this local business loads - they do some gorgeous and beautifully-packaged jewellery. They have an offer on earrings at the moment - £5 off when you buy three pairs. And free delivery over £10. Code is on the site.

Brilliant thread, my recommendations
Gorgeous, unusual and reasonably priced jewellery The Metal Press
Knitwear Pachamama (including a good selection of men's stuff)

Sadik · 06/11/2021 11:57

Also Stokes Croft China - lovely quirky patterns (plus lefty themed stuff if that's your loved ones' thing)

delilahbucket · 06/11/2021 12:01

There are se brilliant stores being shared here but unfortunately I wouldn't touch a lot of them due to a failure to comply with the Consumer Contract Regulations, usually an illegal or total lack of returns policy and only an email for contact information. Stay savvy when shopping online folks. Don't let your "supporting small businesses" good deed turn sour when something goes wrong and you are left out of pocket.

Love this thread! I already have a few carts going from these lovely recommendations. Here's a couple i can add:

This lady from Wales makes gorgeous Welsh and English language ceramic Christmas decorations. I treat myself to a new one each year, they are so bright and fun:

And i love this one for Liberty print hair accessories. I've bough several for my kids and nieces over the years:

I'll come back when i've thought of more!

Here is last year's thread for a booster list!:

Great idea to revive this, I found some great stuff in new independents last year.

I'm going to replug one of my links from last year for hand made and short run printed cards:

www.kyungdesigns.com/all

Kate makes cards to order as well in original watercolours - I've had some lovely cards for special birthdays and celebrations as well as some of her printed packs.

Any recommendations for bath bombs? The DDS love them but Lush are so expensive these days.

WhoWants2Know · 06/11/2021 18:52

Harry Specter's Chocolates: they are gorgeous and the company provides work for adults with Autism. https://www.harryschocs.co.uk/

doadeer · 06/11/2021 18:55

For candles
Lumos apothecary is gorgeous

If anyone has yoga lovers message me as I have an etsy shop but I don't want to put my link as I'll get flooded with views that will run my conversion rate down (just be mindful of this with etsy Sellers - it can impact how we are found in the algorithm)

My contribution would be Grace & Favour Home - I think I may have suggested them last year - they're a shop in Devon and sell their own stuff that they make (gifty and homeware bits) but they also have loads of other designers - I think they're all British- lots of quirky presents and beautiful Christmas decs too! I've just bought some lovely mugs as presents although I might keep them for myself Wink
