I think it was last year that there was a thread running where people recommended small businesses or Etsy shops they’ve bought from. I’m really keen to support the small business this year, plus on the whole are that little bit different.

Any recommendations?

Our second year of choosing Father Christmas letters from leighdraws.etsy.com/ they are beautifully illustrated and folded up like really old fashioned letters and sealed with a drop of wax. My kids think they are magical 🎄

Loved this thread last year too, I have just purchased candles and a few great looking t shirts on this one.

My contributions are:

Melt candles - not fancy looking but bloody amazing scents. They have a lovely shop in Lancashire but you can also buy online: www.themeltco.com

Soap smith - gorgeously scented bath products, with the scents named after different parts of London. I've loved literally everything I've tried from here
soapsmith.com

Bit more random but I've bought jewellery from this Etsy seller a few time for friends and family in Australia and NZ. They've always gone down very well and the few that I've since seen in the flesh have been really nice: etsy.me/3pTv4ng

Three ethical companies that are good for low/zero waste gifts:

Edinburgh skincare www.edinburghskincare.com/ (luxurious hand cream bars in smart tins, often with special offers on multipacks so great for teacher and nursery gifts)

Mintie lunchboxes mintielunchboxes.co.uk/ Stainless steel boxes, snack pots, water bottles etc that can be engraved to personalise (with initials or your own artwork). They often have "B-stock" which is seconds- I've never been able to spot the flaws in these.

Willoughby Book Club www.thewilloughbybookclub.co.uk/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw94WZBhDtARIsAKxWG--X9bYb7R5EsmuiiKABbgSOVn6a7oQ4TXM5_E2gbuzyLydo10tV1F4aAu4bEALw_wcB
Independent bookshop that will select and send a book a month based on information you give them (e.g. what they like, what they have already read). They are really good at finding books you've never heard of but really enjoy, and have different options for children, couples (two of everything so you can read together etc). The parcels come prettily wrapped in tissue paper and the bookshop makes donations to book aid. I have a referral code for 10% off this one but will put it over on the referral thread- I'd recommend them anyway.

So glad this thread popped up again this year.
I'd like to add a couple of etsy shops.

PrinterJohnson in Norwich. Has lovely paper decoration kits, cards etc.

www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PrinterJohnson

And
SandSCreativeco in Essex.
Has the most lovely handmade boho style journals, but also some sewing kits (including christmassy ones)

I recommend Mrs Muckly Makes
She has made me some excellent decorations as gifts and even personalised one with an option she didn't already have.
