Books That Matter offer a female-focused book subscription box that makes a nice gift with a book and little extras such as chocolate, tea or eco friendly bits.

They currently have a referral offer. If I refer you we both get £5 off and also get a free extra box too. Normally £17 per box.

To refer you I will need to give them your email address to send the offer. PM with your email if you would like the offer Smile

Has anyone played Game of Cat and Mouth? It's by the makers of exploding kittens.

Looking at it for my niece and it's fairly expensive for a board game so would like to know if it's a decent game. Thanks.

Resistanceisfruitful · 03/11/2021 17:02

Poppy and Ted sell harnesses, collars and dog accessories, they have a sale with up to 75% off. 10% off first order if you sign up to their email too, but not sure if it works on sale items.

Does anyone have recommendations for a 'foreign sweet box' Something like sweets from Japan or something.

AnotherOne4 · 03/11/2021 17:26

Hi, does anyone have any ideas for a wow present for a 6 year old girl? She’s quite young for her age but doesn’t seem to be in to anything specific. She is autistic and role playing toys (dolls, playmobil, Lego etc) don’t seem to hold her attention.

Her younger sister (3) is getting a dolly and pram etc which will look substantial and I’m at a bit of a loss.

Budget £100 max?

clpsmum · 03/11/2021 17:42

@Scrambledbeans not sure if any of them are wow presents but I am:have bought my son with asd a light up fish pole thing similar to a lava lamp, small indoor trampoline
But bigger, moon shoes, glow in dark den, giant spinning chair, light projector would any of those work?

CozmicBee · 03/11/2021 17:42

Dav pilkey also wrote the dog man series which is brilliant and more recently the cat kid comic club. Try those if you haven't already.

Micro maxi scooter ( age 5-12 ) is currently on sale just under £100 and I think you can also use the code winter10 for extra off
Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 03/11/2021 17:49

What was the present app that you guys all use to log ideas/budget please?

Mrsfussypants1 · 03/11/2021 17:50
  • Amazon: leapfrog magic adventures globe deal of the day £58.49. (Instock Nov 16th). Usually retails for £75/80 and is a popular choice at Christmas. I've tried to share link, but it showed my account. We bought this for gd (5 1/2) to pop away for christmas, just a note it doesn't come in the coloured cardboard display box, but a plain brown leapfrog globe box, which is fine by us, its sustainable, but just incase you want to give it as a gift it won't be in the same case you see in the shops.

Dancing on moonlight Sorry, been a busy day. Size L is perfect for my tall 9 year old- i think I'll definitely get another year out of it. The L in the other style I ordered and decided against was definitely a little smaller. If I was you I'd order L to be on the safe side.

woodwaj · 03/11/2021 18:00

Hi @Scrambledbeans what is she like/usually play? My asd son is 6 and is developmentally below his age and doesn't like role play toys. He does love teddy's, Number games from orchard toys, trampoline, learning resources have some great things too and anything sensory..slime, kinetic sand...he loves the smashers eggs if there is a girly equivalent

sorryiasked · 03/11/2021 18:05

@Scrambledbeans what does she enjoy?

MissCherryCakeyBun · 03/11/2021 18:06

@Allmyarseandpeggymartin I use Gift List it's passcode protected and you can add notes to each item, helpful for marking a note where you have hidden the presents Grin

Can I ask which fish light you have please and if you'd recommend it? My son also has asd and he enjoys the one at nursery in the sensory room, would be nice to get one from home but I'm overwhelmed with choice!!Grin

I second a micro maxi scooter, my dd loves hers. We also bought one of these wiggle cars many years ago and it’s still a big hit. You can get them cheaper but just for reference wiggle
Scrambledbeans · 03/11/2021 18:13

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. Some things she already has (scooter) and other suggestions don’t seem quite right.

I feel embarrassed to say that I’m not sure what she does like..that is to say, not sure what she likes that will capture more than a fleeting interest. She seems to like quite a lot of things but nothing that she would play with repeatedly or a specific interest?

I have some craft kits etc and books for her as they are quite targeted, but everything seems to have moved on for her age group and I’m not sure what to go to next!

Odette81 · 03/11/2021 18:14

I use ‘Santa’s Bag’. Great app to keep track of what I’ve bought, ideas still to buy, whether ordered/received/wrapped etc. It is also password protected from peeking eyes.

My recipient list is also separated into ‘DD’ and ‘DD stocking’ lists as I always forget how many little bits I’ve bought for her.

The total amount spent also helps stop some of the crazy impulse purchases that I really don’t need to get.

chillimice · 03/11/2021 18:20

@Scrambledbeans a giant (say 100-120cm) teddy? It's definitely got the wow factor! We squished it into a box so it expanded when she opened it. It was a surprising hit with DD (also ASD) but also with all her NT cousins and friends who then begged for one (and not hugely expensive). Does she like sensory things? Massive snuggly blankets, pillows and fluffy duvets or a weighted blanket? Or one of those spinny things that you sit on and spin? Would she like a den filled with fairy lights so she can have a quiet place to escape to?

Insanelysilver · 03/11/2021 18:23

Anyone seen any bargains on pretty luxury Christmas crackers for adults please? X

Saxineno · 03/11/2021 18:24

@WisestIsShe

I'm looking for plain glass baubles for the tree, if anyone has seen any? I'm a cm and we use them to make hand print crafts for the parents. Can be pearlised or possible have a little bit of something inside but ideally as plain as possible. Usually m&s. have something but not this year.
