Just curious really, but also searching for ideas. So what are you getting for either yours or others children this year? And ages to make it easier :)

Older children seem easier to buy for so far.

Anyone else,

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/10/2021 09:41

I've bought my nephew (2.5) the playmobil 123 zoo and a zoo vechile to go with it

Fetarabbit · 22/10/2021 09:43

DS is almost 3, I've got him:

Some books
Vtech camera
Duplo blocks
Some jigsaws

He already has a lot of stuff so don't feel the need to go overboard.

Floralnomad · 22/10/2021 09:48

Our children are adults and we now buy for our great niece (7) who is getting a craft set based around painting dinosaurs , great nephew (5) who has a robot dog and friends child ( 8) who has a radio controlled hover disc thing . I don’t ask for ideas .
@17caterpillars1mouse absolutely no need to price match for your children , ours are in their 20s now and I never price matched , I figure it works out even enough over the years .

Molehillfromamountain · 22/10/2021 09:51

DD7
Animal Crossing
Barbie Colour Reveal
Lego
Oversized Hoodie
Books

DS5 (Harder to buy for)
Kids digital camera
Lego
Nerf
Oversized Hoodie
Books

Samanabanana · 22/10/2021 09:55

DS5 - jurassic world lego set and a treasure x kit. In his stocking- book, bathbombs, some mini minecraft figures, chocolates/sweets, glow sticks, tamagotchi. Everyone else goes mad for him at Christmas so we try to limit what we get him!

For the baby we'll do a stocking so other child does not question FC' methods Grin we'll include a soft toy, feet/hand finders, a book, sensory toys

AliasGrape · 22/10/2021 10:00

DD will.be coming up to 18 months at Christmas-

  • Toy tractor, barn and farm animal figures, she borrowed some when we were on holiday and never stopped playing with them
  • Play pots and pans/ food stuff - always makes a beeline for this at playgroup. I'd love a full on play kitchen like the IKEA or aldi ones but we just don't have the space. The other day I scored a lovely wooden toy oven thing in a charity shop for a few quid, should have saved that for christmas really, might still put it away and bring it out again
  • Books
  • Some lovely handmade clothes from a local business, I love what this woman makes so much but they're a bit pricey so only get a few bits at Christmas

Niece 6 months
Books and sensory blocks

Teenage nieces and nephews 13-17
Money and chocolate, given up trying to get the right thing these days, they're happy with the cash and a token chocolate reindeer!

Younger nieces and nephews- 5, 6, 8 and 9
Not set in stone but I tend to go with books relevant to their interests/ age plus something arty/crafty or a little Lego kit for the ones that like that. Plus some chocolate.

Friend's daughter
We have a bit of an unspoken agreement to get books for each others DDs, and we tend to try and find things with good female characters or something that's more unusual, eg last christmas she sent DD some picture books by an artist local to her.

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/10/2021 20:25

@Floralnomad

Thanks. Its not so much the cost matching I'm worried about, I just can't decide if Dd2's is going to look more when all out on Xmas morning as the double pram will be big and very wow whereas dd1s pile will look smaller and less wow. Think I'd feel better about it if they are a similar price

julesover40 · 23/10/2021 08:09

Some good ideas here, both have similar stocking with chocolate, shower gel, mini dairy lights, hot choc sachets and matching mugs.
Dd15:
New vans
Adidas hoodie
Books
Art pencils
New led lights to replace overused current ones

Dd10:
Skateboard, helmet, pads etc
Adidas trainers
Nail gel kit with uv dryer
Revolution make up set

Nieces and nephew possibly tickets to a show or starbucks/Costa vouchers as opposed to physical presents, they are all teens now so prefer that.

StTherese · 23/10/2021 08:22

DS13 - managed to get him the Xbox Series X purely by chance, it's been OOS everywhere for months. That cost £450 so will just be buying him some stocking fillers to open - smelly set, art stuff, knee pads for his scooter, etc.

Dd21 - money, Fitbit, make up, perfume, Pyjamas, dressing gown, real techniques brush set, she's asked for a new Mason Pearson brush, I still thought they were about £40 😂didn't realise how expensive they've gone.

Everyone else is just getting cash and a small gift to open.
