I love the Booths Christmas Book.

I live in the south west, so we're miles from getting hold of one. I'm hoping a friend from the north will stick one in the post for me.

RJnomore1 · 15/10/2021 22:42

Is it online??? I’m in Scotland so it’s a fantasy read...

JumpLeadsForTwo · 15/10/2021 22:51

Oooh fabulous! I'll have to go to our local one.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/10/2021 23:53

@RJnomore1, here you go.

We went after school to get our books. I love Booths!

RJnomore1 · 15/10/2021 23:54

Thank you!!

Margaritawithlime · 16/10/2021 07:20

The last page letter for the big man made me have a little cry. Bloody love this book.

RedPandaFluff · 16/10/2021 11:35

I'm really surprised by this thread - where I lived a couple of years ago, Booths was my local supermarket (well, the handy one that I'd go to after work etc.) and I always found it to be hugely overpriced for basic quality items. I remember seeing the exact same things - deli meats, chocolates etc. - in Aldi at the weekend when we did our "big shop" for half the price. I do remember the Christmas books but again, didn't think it was exceptional. Have things changed?

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 16/10/2021 12:29

There's always one Grin

Yes, the cheese counter at Booths and the Christmas book pictured is exactly the same as Aldi.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/10/2021 12:43

I don't even know where to start with the Aldi comparison! Xmas Hmm

Booths sources its fresh produce from as close to where it's sold as possible. You truly are buying local. Yes, its every day items aren't always as cheap as other places, but its price point isn't really any / much different from M&S and Waitrose.

ThePlantsitter · 16/10/2021 12:47

I want to live in the Booths Christmas book.

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 16/10/2021 12:51

Amazed that the exact same things were in Aldi at the weekend, those beautiful Lathams desserts and cheese, fresh out of Singletons dairy. Oh and that seabass, straight out of the Bay. Love Aldi Wink

Myself and dh seriously considered a move north to be closer to Booths.

We have a waitrose.... its not the same... but its for shopping experience browsing, special occassion meals and product lusting imo, not the weekly shop (until the kids leave home at least).

It is expensive for everyday item but you don’t shop there for them, you shop for the “naice” things in Booths then go to Aldi for the rest 😂. Well I do anyway, as they’re next door to each other and you don’t even have to change carpark!
NoWordForFluffy · 16/10/2021 13:03

@LadyCatStark, Burscough? That car park has a tendency towards manic! 🤣

Tiredmum100 · 16/10/2021 13:04

I've never heard or seen a Booths in real life, only on here. Is it an English thing? (I'm in wales).

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 16/10/2021 13:05

"You don’t even have to change carpark!"

You know you're winning when you've got Booths and Aldi sharing the car park.

I mentioned in the OP that I bought molasses for the cake, I've just looked out of interest and it was 5p cheaper than Asda. And it isn't stocked at Aldi at all in any form.

Also got a chocolate orange which was the standard quid Grin.

The meat was more expensive than at Aldi because it is much better quality and is locally sourced.

We have recently moved to the north west. I always loved going to Booths on our visits. Now I get to LIVE down the from one. It's my favourite place to go.

I'm new to the Christmas book though, I need more information please fellow Booths lovers!

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 16/10/2021 13:06

You need to come up north @Tiredmum100 Grin

IggyAce · 16/10/2021 13:10

I love a trip to Booths my nearest is an hour away, I’m planning on a trip nearer Christmas to buy some delicious treats.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/10/2021 13:11

I'm not sure there's much more to tell you than is in this thread, @headinthecloudsnow!

Waitwhat23 · 16/10/2021 13:12

I love Booths. We always pop in when we're in the Lakes/Lancashire. Drooling over the Christmas catalogue but they don't deliver to Scotland. Debating the 3 hour drive.....

It’s obviously not the same as the in store experience but you can get a lot of Booths food on Amazon Fresh!

LadyCatStark · 16/10/2021 13:40

@NigelSlatersXmasTaters

Carnforth I reckon!
Nearly, Garstang 😊.
AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 16/10/2021 13:42

I have downloaded the catalogue so that I can look at it (and drool) at my leisure. It was lovely to see Booth employees as models.
