Here we go people! Smile

I thought we could start reading the Introduction from October 15th at a gentle pace to allow people to join the thread. Then all set for Chapter 1 on November 1st.

The Christmas Chronicles is currently just over £20 on Amazon. Maybe people could share all the options for those who are just joining us, who still want to get a copy.

I'm hoping this thread will be a lovely, gentle, uplifting transition into the Christmas period where we can share our thoughts, recipe attempts and inspiration from Nigel x

This sounds absolutely amazing! I'm so happy I've found this thread. I've just ordered my copy now. Thank you

Hello everyone,
This looks so exciting! I'm an absolute Christmas fanatic but I've never heard of this book. Please could someone point me in the right direction as Google has bought up quite a few and I'm lost. Would love to join you all!

Thanks in advance :)

I haven’t bought the book but last year I tuned into the podcast. Nigel Slater talks about lots of lovely memories including the time he went home for Christmas to find his family had gone away! and details many recipes. I used to put him on during my December walks so I could feel the chilly air ( maybe about to snow). He really does make you feel Christmassy.

@ChristmasFanatic sorry for the terrible photo but this is the book we're talking about

I read the intro and really enjoyed it!

Artdecolover · 03/10/2021 23:06

Placemaking. My copy arrived a couple of days ago.

OnTheHillNotOverIt · 04/10/2021 00:12

@Artdecolover I think the introduction is from 14th October and Chapter 1 is 1st November.

Oh gosh this looks AMAZING! I'm really trying to cut down on new book buying (have been going second hand only for a couple of years now) but might have to break the rule and get this when it comes out.
JoyPeaceHope · 04/10/2021 10:35

I have my copy and am ready to go!

I must say I was sort of expecting the book to be A4 size but mine is more A5. Is that the same for everyone else?

sueelleker · 04/10/2021 10:38

I like the look of the Elisen Lebkuchen!

OnTheHillNotOverIt · 04/10/2021 10:41

@Dillidilly how would you feel about reported your post and asking mnhq to add Nigel’s name to thread title?

Same here - but I like it, feels sort of substantial and stocky!
Dillidilly · 04/10/2021 11:55

@OnTheHillNotOverIt have just done so, thanks for the suggestion x

Are the recipes very meat based or are there any veggie recipes?

OnTheHillNotOverIt · 04/10/2021 12:52

Brilliant @Dillidilly the title is fixed!

Anyone who knows the book.. can you advise on how to prep?

I had a flick through and can see quite a few jar based recipes I would like to try. So think I need to buy half a dozen jars. A saw someone mentioned buying a candle.

Any other tips on what might come in handy to get my full Nigel on?! Gin
