Here we go people! Smile

I thought we could start reading the Introduction from October 15th at a gentle pace to allow people to join the thread. Then all set for Chapter 1 on November 1st.

The Christmas Chronicles is currently just over £20 on Amazon. Maybe people could share all the options for those who are just joining us, who still want to get a copy.

I'm hoping this thread will be a lovely, gentle, uplifting transition into the Christmas period where we can share our thoughts, recipe attempts and inspiration from Nigel x

£20.80 on WH Smith website but only £9.00 in store (I had to try a couple of stores before DH’s eagle eye finally found a copy tucked behind a pillar).

Ooh! Intriguing - what is this? I’ve never heard of it!!

Piccalino3 · 03/10/2021 00:17

I bought my copy last year but had no time to read it. Have listened to a few of the podcasts and am excited to follow along with you all!

Hydrate · 03/10/2021 05:14

What is this Christmas Chronicle's?..off to google this...

Hydrate · 03/10/2021 05:15

Netflix program?

Hydrate · 03/10/2021 05:17

I am pretty sure this is it! The Christmas chronicles
Book by Jeff Guinn

NoWordForFluffy · 03/10/2021 05:27

There's a photo of the book at 21.53 last night.

HoHoJ0 · 03/10/2021 05:33
@HoHoJ0 it's called Toasted mincemeat sandwich p99. You essentially take two circles of panettone, sandwich some mincemeat inside them, butter the outside then toast the whole thing in a frying pan like a giant mice pie toastie. Slice up into triangles and dustwith icing sugar with ice cream. It's just heavenly; Nigel explains it far more eloquently of course.
Well that sounds immense!!

Thank-you!
Candlesonthetable · 03/10/2021 07:16

@Haywire what a great find! I have pre-ordered it too!

StillUpSpooking · 03/10/2021 07:52

Ooh I’d love to join you all. I bought a copy from world of books and it’s pristine. It’s currently lying on my bedside table calling to me but I’ll be patient. I start maternity leave mid November and I have a lovely image of curling up with it in front of the fire after the school run. I normally host but won’t be this year, but still hoping to get a festive cooking fix Smile

DoraChance · 03/10/2021 07:56

What a lovely idea, especially with so much doom and gloom around at the moment. I'm in! 🎄🎄

Whatliesbeneath707 · 03/10/2021 08:20

Thank you for the new thread @Dillidilly
Do you think Nigel is wondering why there has been a sudden flurry of this book being bought?
It’s all down to you @Dillidilly, so thank you!
Nigel has been winking at me for weeks, as he sits on my bookcase. Even the weather is getting us ready for the start 🍁

FilthyforFirth · 03/10/2021 08:26

I'm excited to join! I may have listened in on spotify but have resisted reading! Also on mat leave so looking forward to actually having time to make a lot of the recipes!

NoWordForFluffy · 03/10/2021 08:29

Nigel has been told on Twitter and Instagram...he hasn't responded though! Xmas Sad

BuckyBarnesArm · 03/10/2021 08:32

I'm so down for this! Just ordered through World of Books for £16.59 & free delivery in the UK.

Looking forward to a gentle Nige-led approach to Christmas

FauxFox · 03/10/2021 08:38

Dillidilly · 03/10/2021 08:52

I have seen a mumsnet advert for Nigel Slater’s Christmas Chronicles.

I will get the book and join in. I love everything about Christmas and had a crap one last year because my Granny was dying. I want to make this year extra special.

Awumminnscotland · 03/10/2021 11:45

Hi, just joined MN to join the thread and stop lurking. I got the book last year for Xmas so looking forward to using it and joining the chat.

Blueberryflavour · 03/10/2021 14:59

Bought the book 2 Christmas ago for my DH to try and get him in the Christmas mood , hadn’t read it myself as I am enough of a Christmas nerd already. Got the book back from my DH so I’m ready to join in the collective fun.

FrownedUpon · 03/10/2021 16:08

Just bought a new copy for £9 from British Bookshop & Stationers. WHSmiths didn’t have any left.

MrsLCSofLichfield · 03/10/2021 16:43

Looking forward to this!

Tsmummy08 · 03/10/2021 17:20

Waiting for my copy to arrive tomorrow.... along with a second-hand copy of Delia's Christmas book... Can't wait to get into the spirit of Christmas this year as last year was pants!
